Beachwalk is located near the eastern end of the Fort Morgan Peninsula which is well known for its history, natural trails and marine treasures. The site of Fort Morgan is 3 miles east of Beachwalk. This 175 year old fort played the central role in the Battle of Mobile Bay and was in active duty during the Spanish American War and World Wars I and II .
Next to the Fort is Mobile Bay Ferry Landing, boat ramp and pier. Launch your boat (for 1 dollar) to fish inshore or offshore or just fish off the pier. Leave your car at the ferry landing and ride the ferry (walk-ons are $5.00 round trip and children under 12 free) over to Dauphin Island where Fort Gaines and the Dauphin Island Sea Lab Estuarium are within a short walking distance.
The Fort Morgan Peninsula also hosts the National Bon Secor Wildlife refuge which boasts 7000 acres of protected woodlands, wetlands and over 1 mile ocean beach. Walk trails to the beach or Mobile Bay and see Alabama’s coastal wildlife and beautiful wetland scenes. There are ten bird watching sites on the Peninsula which are all part of Alabama’s Coastal Birding trail and among the favorites of our growing bird watching population.
Fishing in the surf is a great pastime where pompano and whiting can be regularly caught as well as bluefish, flounder, red fish and even the occasional mackerel.

About Penny or Chuck
Beachwalk is owned by Lucius and Penny Butts and Chuck and Loula Wilson of Baton Rouge, LA. In 2004 we happened upon Heritage Shores, a luxury development on the Fort Morgan Penninsula, and decided to invest in this well kept and ideally located community where 35 neighborhood homes share the use of two pools and a tennis court.
Penny or Chuck purchased this House in 2005
Why Penny or Chuck chose Fort Morgan
Our families vacationed together in the Gulf Shores area for years; we all love the beach, fishing, playing golf and birding and hiking in the nearby National and State Parks. We love using the beach house year round, but opted to rent in the summer to help defray expenses.
What makes this House unique
Family and friends play golf at several of the 7 golf courses in the area. When not playing golf we love to surf fish, which is great year round, and fish offshore or in the bay. We also enjoy reading and sunning on the white sandy beaches and visiting the shops at Foley, the Warf and along the Gulf Shores to Perdido strip.

Great home with plenty of room for twelve.
We really enjoyed our stay at Beachwalk. The home is well maintained and the neighborhood is great. Although we had to endure tropical storm Cindy, the house was plenty big for 12 people stuck inside for two days. Thanks to the property owners for providing a great vacation spot!
Thank you very much. We are delighted you enjoyed Beachwalk and the Heritage Shores neighborhood. We hope you will come back. Thanks for taking such good care of our home!
A wonderful place to take your family!
Our family enjoyed our stay at Beachwalk. It was accommodating in every way. It was extremely cold due to a front that came thru, but that did not keep us from having an enjoyable and memorable time together. Beachwalk was clean, beds were really comfortable and basically had everything we needed. We all felt so at home and would recommend it to anyone.
We truly enjoyed our visit to Ft Morgan. The home was great for our families. Large kitchen & dining room that meet our needs. Well stocked kitchen. Beds were very comfortable. The bunk beds squeak but were comfortable. The view of the bay was wonderful. The walk to the beach only took a few minutes. The only complaint that we had was the refrigerator / freezer that did not work well. We suggest you budget for $50 worth of ice until the owners replace it. Don't buy ice cream, it turns to cold soup. Keep an eye on your meat since the frig doesn't get very cold. The pools were nice but no bathroom there and the furniture at the pool is pretty beat up. The outside shower was very nice. The owners were easy to work with.
Thank you very much for the thoughtful review. We are delighted you enjoyed Beachwalk. We have ordered a new refrigerator and it will be deliver next weekend.
Quiet neighborhood with nice beaches. The home was nicely furnished and had comfortable beds. The grandkids enjoyed the bunk beds and their own tv for relaxing at night. My only suggestion would be more comfortable seating on the deck to enjoy morning coffee and some dishwashing detergent to get started. Owners were easy to work with.
Wonderful location and home
We enjoy the Fort Morgan area because of its beautiful beach and quiet neighborhoods. This is our second stay in Heritage Shores and we love the community. The home is beautiful and very well furnished. Beds were very comfortable. It's just a short walk to the beach. Restaurants and shopping are just a twenty minute drive back to Orange Beach area. The only addition to the home would be comfortable seating on the decks. Such great decks for enjoying a morning cup of coffee but the seating is limited with plastic lawn chairs and nothing on the upper deck. Overall it was a wonderful week with friends and family!
Beachwalk is wonderful!
We had a lovely week at Beachwalk! The home is very spacious, the neighborhood is nice, and the walk to the beach is not too far. Bring something with you to roll your tent/chairs/cooler/etc to the beach, or drive it all to the beach and unload it there.
We really enjoyed the fact that we were not in Gulf Shores proper, which seems very crowded compared to the Fort Morgan area.
