We stayed at this apartment for 8 days and i must say it was a great experince. The views was amazing and location perfect. The apartment itself is placed in a gated community with a private pool with nice surroundings. All in all very clean and tidy.Zambrone has the closest beaches just 5 min away with car...yes, you need car to be able to fully enjoy this part of italy.Tropea another 5 min away is full with resraurants and great architecture. Stromboli the vulcano is visible on a clear day from Tropea. During our stay we also visited Sicily which is just 1h drive down to Messina. So wow yes ! I would rent polinas apartment again, no doubt about it. Highly recomended 👍😄
Comfortable apartment and great owner
Polina was a great owner. Kept in constant communication, even when we weren't arriving until very late. Apartment was well equipped and very comfortable with lovely views. Happy to recommend and would rent it again 😄
I am delighted you enjoyed your stay. Feel free to return any time.
Toller Ausblick, gepflegtes Apartment
(also auch kein Schatten)
Calabria has mile upon mile of sandy beaches, rocky coves, spectacular headlands and space. The beaches are among the cleanest in Italy and absolutely stunning, like you've gone long haul but without the flight! Probably the most famous of all beaches in Calabria is that of Tropea and no visit to the region would be complete without witnessing the glistening white sands that gently spill into the glittering blue waters. The beach of Tropea and it's marina are 2km away. Nearest beach 1.5km.
The closest golf course is the Feudo Montalto Golf Club in Limbadi, a small town 25km south of Tropea (30 minutes drive). The course lays among orange and olive trees. In spring (April-May), when you can play you will be surrounded by the smell of orange flowers, and autumn-winter, you can refresh yourself by picking an orange from the trees. Weather conditions in the region allow you to play every month of the year.
Its amazing but true, that you can ski this far south, probably the most southerly resort in mainland Europe is Gambarie in Aspromonte a small ski resort with just 4 ski lifts (2 chair lifts, 2 surface lifts) but it does boast a very impressive 670 metres (2198 feet) of vertical descent. Gambarie in Aspromonte has 5 pistes. The Ski resort is 100km away from Tropea.
Special interest holidays
Diving and snorkeling - Calabria offers one of the best diving areas in the Italian Mediterranean. This is mainly due to the geological characteristics typical of the diving areas south of Tropea. The marina has several diving schools.
Sailing & Windsurfing - Again there are schools in Tropea with courses which include catamaran-sailing and windsurfing for beginners as well as for advanced students.
Fishing - There are numerous companies offering deep sea fishing trips.
History and Culture - Calabria is a region of ancient Mediterranean culture and it is the place from which Italy derives its name. Accordingly there any many historical buildings and sites to visit in the region.
Walking Holidays - Calabria is an area of outstanding national beauty and has not only beautiful beaches and beautiful mountains but national parks. These make for peaceful and interesting walking holidays.
Ryanair offers cheap all year round direct flights from London Stansted Airport to Lamezia Terme Airport. The apartment is 50km, approximately 45 minutes drive from the airport.
It is also possible to fly from a number of Regional airports in the UK to Milian, Rome, Pisa, Bologna from where internal flights are available or Tropea can be reached by car/train. This is ideally suited for a two centre holiday (city+beach).
We recommend hiring a car.
Zambrone town is a 5 min drive inland. Briatico is 7min drive north. Pizzo is a 20 min drive north along the coast. Naples approx a 4 hour drive. Tropea is a short 7 min drive south along the coast. Capo Vaticano is a 20 min coastal drive south. Reggio is approximately a 2 hour drive where you can catch a ferry to Sicily. National park areas are all within a reasonable driving distance making it possible for daily excursions. Zambrone Train Station is a 3 mind drive down.
Zambrone town offers every amenity and has a traditional piazza, bars, pizzeria, fresh meat from the local butcher, fresh fish delivered every day. Fresh cheese is delivered straight from the dairy twice a week. It has grocers, general stores, hairdressers, pharmacy, cash point etc. It has a purpose built amphitheatre which hosts a variety of entertainment. Tropea Stands on an imposing sand stone cliff and is one of the most artistically interesting and picturesque centres in the Vibo Valencia province. There are traces of ancient prehistoric settlements, burial passages dating back to Greek and Roman times. It is one of the best preserved and most beautiful historic centres in the whole region. Tropea is brimming with bars, restaurants and pizzerias spilling out onto the cobbled streets. Soak up the atmosphere of this wonderful place while enjoying a delicious meal of fresh pasta, fresh seafood, fresh local anti pasta or a pizza straight from the traditional pizza ovens or just sit and enjoy a cup of coffee, a glass of the local wine, or one of the local liqueurs (I highly recommend the limoncello) The patisseries and ice cream are dangerously delicious. Tropea is famous for its reddish blue onions sweet and delicious and the olive oil is said to be the best in Italy. Enjoy the variety and flavour of Tropea market on Saturday mornings. Capo Vaticano. A 10 min drive out of Tropea southwards and in a moment you have access to another jewel in the Calabrian coast, with its warm crystal clear waters, white sandy beaches, and pretty coves, well known for its scuba diving and snorkelling. Pizzo A 20 min drive in the other direction heading north along the coast is Pizzo, famous for its delicious ice cream (tartuffo di Pizzo) and must be tried to be believed. It is also well known f
