Please be sure to wash all your dishes, take out the trash and put your dirty towels in a pile. Beds can remain undone. Please lock all the windows and doors and turn off all lights & fans.
Be sure that the garage door is locked and that the key is left in the bowl on the dining table. Also be sure that the front door is locked after closing.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.

Amazing location where the back yard neighbor is the Pacific! The ocean sounds are soothing. We viewed turtles and frolicking whales right from the back porch. We booked our 2025 stay before we checked out of our 2024 stay! Once we decide on vacation dates, we’ll be booking again! As a matter of fact we would change our vacation dates if needed to book this amazing place!

This home was just what we wanted for that Hawaii vibe! The coast view is amazing, Great way to enjoy breakfast! Don’t worry about the lack of AC the windows provide plenty of air flow! I would highly recommend this home!

The condo is very nice. Very clean, great amenities and the host focuses on the details to make your stay very comfortable with all you would hope for in a vacation rental. 50 yards to the beach and 75 yards to a great restaurant for happy hour, food and outdoor seating to take in the sunset. I highly recommend this.

30 days on the ocean

We stayed in this home for the full month of March 2025. We rated this a 10 based on our top three requirements: next to the ocean, clean, comfortable beds. This home met all three requirements. The ocean with its spectacular crashing waves, stunning views, and swimming turtles was wonderful. The sound of the waves at night along with the comfortable bed made for excellent sleeping. The home was clean and the two new area rugs were a nice update. However, as others have noted, this home would benefit from additional updates. For example, the couch is very uncomfortable. Our inquiries via email were answered promptly. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

95% of the cost is going towards the view. The house is very old and the location is remote but the private ocean views are absolutely insane. We even saw whales while lounging in the backyard.

Awesome view

The house was in an amazing place on the ocean overlooking about 30 feet of lava into the ocean. The waves crashing put us to sleep in comfortable beds. The neighborhood was nice and restaurants were close. Liv and Bob had neighborhood suggestions for restaurant and activities. We went to their neighborhood black beach and it was awesome. The kitchen had much more than you could ask for. I would love to revisit this place and stay in this house again!

Spectacular experience!!

We could not have had a better time and left reluctantly and feeling so grateful to have had this experience. The house was well-stocked and comfortable and the location was like something in a movie. We spent early mornings outside with coffee and the sunrise and the rest of the day exploring. Great food options in Pahoa for takeout also. Truly a vacation we’ll be reminiscing about for years!! Mahalo Crystal and family for opening your incredible home to us!

The area was great. The view beautiful. We were there during some unusually warm days in July according to the weather reporters on tv so it was very warm inside the house. No air conditioner which is not uncommon in Hawaii. There were lots of fans and if you used the cross ventilation with the windows, by morning you are reaching for the covers. Saw turtles and dolphins as we watched the world go by.

Quaint little home nestled in a quiet neighborhood. The views are breathtaking. If listening to the waves hit the rocks and watching the ocean’s rhythm is your jam than this is perfect. We had a very active vacation and this was a great place to come and rest and relax after long hikes and ocean play. It is a bit out of the way for some attractions on the island but the drive was always part of the adventure for us. Seeing the greenery and homes around us made the drive interesting too. It is close enough to stores and pizza will deliver if you are not up to driving.

My husband and I are both born and raised in Hawaii. I came from Oahu and am proud to be of Hawaiian descent. My husband was born in Kona, but raised in Kalapana on the Big Island of Hawaii, before the lava came and took it away. He brought our family back to the Big Island 12 years ago where we have been ever since. The vacation rental is ours and my dad's house. My dad bought it in the hopes of moving to a peaceful, less crowded place than Oahu someday. We have been managing our family vacation rental since 2007.
Our main goal is to make our malahini(tourist) love the Big Island as much as we do and we put every ounce of aloha in our rental(s) and in keeping our house(s) comfy and clean. If you are looking for cleaners for your own vacation rental, please consider us to help. We really enjoy taking care of vacation rentals.

Why they chose this property

The way the house is designed, you have an ocean view from anywhere in the house making it unique compared to other vacation rentals. All of us enjoy it here on the east side of the Big Island because it feels as though you are in 'true' Hawaii, not the over developed parts of Oahu, Maui and the west or Kona side of the Big Island. It is definitely a place where you can enjoy nature at its finest. Plus it is a safe place to raise our three sons and to be able to teach them the ways of Hawaii life such as fishing, diving, surfing, and farming.

What makes this property unique

The best thing about this house is seeing whales just offshore during the winter season. It is amazing to be able to sit and watch the ocean with all its marine life (turtles, fish, whales, opihi, etc...). FYI-if you are looking for turtles, you need to look under the water in the surf(polarized glasses help). They aren't sitting on the rocks in plain sight. Aloha a hui hou!
