Merece Tus Sueños is a small tropical resort in the quaint village of Troncones. Troncones is a fishing village on the Pacific coast of Mexico. This pristine beach area is highlighted by a coastal mountain range as a backdrop. Troncones is located approximately 20 kilometers north of Ixtapa.
The resort has a four suite guest house and a small private bungalow. There is a separate fully furnished kitchen building, swimming pool, and patio for guest use. Our resort was just completed in the spring of 2007. The open air design and traditional Mexican architecture make our resort a unique vacation destination. The suites can be rented individually or the entire resort may be rented for a secluded family vacation.
There are three sand beaches in the Troncones area; Troncones beach, Manzanillo Bay beach, and Majahua beach. Our resort is located on Manzanillo Bay. Between the beaches are volcanic rock formations with tidal pools filled with colorful tropical fish and sea life. Manzanillo Bay is the ideal beach for swimming, boogie boarding, and surfing. It is pristine and uncrowded. It is dotted with several restaurants, so it is easy to spend the entire day there.
The Troncones/Zihuatanejo is renown for its world class fishing, from Sailfish, Rooster fish, Dorado to monster Marlin. Trips can be arranged locally or from Zihuatanejo and Ixtapa.
The Troncones area is a surfer's paradise with numerous uncrowded locations to surf. The uncrowded surfing is known throughout the surfing world.
Five beach restaurants are within a 10 minute walk on the beach. In addition, Antonio makes great fire cooked pizza on Fridays and Saturdays at Yoga Del Pacifico, a few doors down. Make sure to check with Antonio what he is cooking up.
There are 20 additional restaurants along the beach within a 10 minute drive. Most restaurants do not take credit cards but will gladly accept U.S. dollars currency. You will find a variety of eating establishments from fine dining to traditional Mexican fare. There is something for everyone.
Of course there is always staying in for the evening and cooking the local fare.
Watching for the 'green flash' at sunset is an ongoing guest quest. You can either watch the spectacular sunset from the patio or along the beach in front of the resort.
I booked this property for our group, and when I got there 1 hour after they did... I was pleased to get a standing ovation!
Kena is the cleaning lady, and she is very accommodating for whatever you need. The pool guy even took one of us lobster fishing one day!
Use Gustavo for your car needs or airport shuttles, he is very prompt on returning your emails.
The rooms/beds are very comfortable, and we all liked that they are private to not have to hear nightly activities if you don't want to hear them.
The stereo was nice in the kitchen room that had speakers out by the pool. If we go again, we would remember to bring more CD's, or an adapter to play our own music.
It is also great that there is a supply of cleanser for the fruit and vegetables to be washed in. Not sure if Craig supplied it, or if it was left over from last guests?
Sergio cooked us a fabulous meal! We purchased shrimp and Mahi from the locals, and he dug through our fridge and put together e a feast! We paid him $80+tip and paid for our food.
We also had fresh abalone, and muscles that the locals dug off the rocks in the surf right in front of us some days. Can't get any fresher!
Vendors a few, and far between...but they will find what you want and bring it the next day!
I would recommend getting peso's before you go. No banks there, and locals exchange rate is whatever they want it to be at times.....much easier having pesos for all!
Thank you Craig, for sharing your place on VRBO...it's people like you that made our friends quit their locked in time-share!! They LOVE staying in new places and exploring different cities in Mexico other than Mazatlan every year after year! We got them to Ixtapa once, and were hooked on our adventures!
Your place is wonderful!
I can't rave enough about this property and Troncones in general. My wife and I stayed at Merece Tus Suenos for one week of a two week stay. The property was meticulously maintained and in the perfect location. It was just what the doctor ordered. We would have stayed for the second week as well but it was unfortunately already booked. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We became addicted to the regular bread deliveries as well as the fruit/vegetable truck that was in the area several times.
The area is very safe and not once did we feel unsafe or questionable!
We found the perfect little section of beach a short walk to the north from the property and quite literally only had three people cross our path in the 4 hours we were enjoying the ocean.
We just returned home and are already planning our trip for next year. This time we will bring the kids as well... or maybe not.
Mereces Tus Suenos is truly paradise. You arrive to the sound of the ocean, large private rooms, and beautiful sunshine. The shared kitchen is great fun and a nice way to meet other guests. The owners are incredibly accommodating and flexible. Although this resort isn't located in a very populated area, you can't beat the warm fresh bread in the morning or fresh fruit and vegetables at your door. The food can't get any fresher or better! There's also so much to do in the area, from horseback rides to hiking to a cave, you and your family won't be bored! An absolutely perfect getaway resort tailored to all sorts of travelers. Once you visit Mereces Tus Suenos, you'll be hooked!
I can't say nothing negative about our vacation to Merce Tu Suenos in Troncones, MX. This private resort was exactly what we needed. We have been to all inclusives before where there are hundreds of people, timelines on eating, so many activities. It was nice to have no timelines. Due to size maybe a maximum of 15 people would be there if the place was completely filled. Our rooms were fabulous with king size beds, beautiful bathrooms. Our 2 grown daughters & boyfriend/finance joined us. The setting allowed us much one on one time together with no distraction coming from other guests or activites. We controlled our own timelines-loved that! We spent hours by the pool, walking the beach & climbing the rocks, snorkeling. We found a tidal pool 15 mins down the beach that offered about 10 species of fish, sea urchins and other critters from the sea, Even a baby sting ray! The outdoor kitchen was enjoyable to cook in & offered everything you needed to make meals. Do stop in Zihuatanejo & get groceries. There are two little grocery stores in town but probably not enough of what you might want. The fruit/vegetable truck came by daily along with a beer truck that stopped several times during the week even thou there is a well stocked liquor store in Troncones. No Schnapps thou! Plenty of tequila!!! I recommend getting a mango off the fruit truck and making mango margarittas! At 7:30am every AM the bread lady would come with her warm fresh homemade breads. A bun was 4 peso's and there were loaves sometimes and delicious sweet bread. We immersed ourselves into the little town of Mahajua a 5 min walk down the road. Very poor, but a wonder cultural experience. We attended a fund raiser at the school. They do not speak english so plan to use a lot of sign language. We did not eat at the restuarants there...a little too rustic for us but I hear it is very good. The other direction from our complex there are 3 or so resort complex's that have very good restuarants and bars if you want a cooking break. The complex is managed by two of the sweetest people Jose and Myra. DO HAVE THEM COOK FOR YOU! Fresh lobster from out front, shrimp, you name it. Just make arrangments when you get there. They will answer any ?'s. Highly recommend if you want a quite, personal, romantic, low key vacation together without all the commotion of people. Go into Xtapa if you desire more activites and night life. Taxi's are avail. Beautiful sunsets, scenery and more!!!!
This place is a wonderful, quiet get-a-way; modern yet tastefully simple. A great place to experience Mexico on a different level. Rooms and other areas were clean and welcoming When we wandered through the area we felt like we were on the set of an old John Ford directed western or the Magnificent Seven with Yul Brynner and Steve McQueen. We walked down dusty dirt roads through quiet villages down to the ocean. Along the way we saw chickens, dogs, children at school and local fishermen with their catches. Real Mexico with all it's charms.
The other reviews are quite accurate as to our stay at MTS for 11 wonderful days. It's hard to add much more. The property was clean and well maintained, the beds comfy, staff very helpful. I would recommend renting a car here, as things are spread out. Although we did not explore the area too much, there are things to do here. Most of our time was spent relaxing, reading and just enjoying the scenery. A horseback ride was my highlight. We found the restaurants to be all about the same. A good restaurant is Los Siete Mares in town, and Maria's in Mahajua, which is a 5 minute walk. We plan on returning and will be sure to do more exploring next time around. We would certainly recommend this wonderful place to anyone. You can't go wrong.
