This place is overpriced, and the listing photos are deceptive. The livingroom furniture is not the same as the listing pictures, the current couch is blue and stained in several places, and definitely in not new!!! The gas grill grates are completely rusted, we had to buy an iron griddle to use on the grates because they were so dirty. The mattress is trash, it's very uncomfortable & slides off the bed frame, and the sheets don't fit it.The sheets & blanket are 100% polyester, not breathable like 100% cotton is, so they hold in body heat, making it very difficult to sleep. The balcony looks private in the pics, but it is shared with the close neighbor. The table & chairs looking out the door to the water is in an unusable greenhouse. The entrance has 2 flights of stairs. The parking is very tight, and under a tree. There was NO hot water at all in the kitchen, that was unacceptabl, I use the kitchen often! One of the wierdest things I have ever seen was a backwards #3 on Unit 1 door!!!! The door does not auto lock, so we thought we were secure, but on the last day we noticed we were not. And something the owner is not supposed to do... he texted me the entry code on my personal cellphone!!! They are supposed to only communicate through the app so that there is a record of all messages!!! The listing says no pets, but one rental had 1, and another had 6!!!! There was 1 thing we really liked, that was being able to walk around to the back yard and go fishing off the dock.

Off the beaten track

We arrived early and Chuck did a great job of having our place cleaned first that day and sent us a text to let us check in early. He gave us a tour of the area and it was all very well maintained. We did not use the laundry, piers, bikes or kayaks but it all looked nice. The unit was a bit older and needed a little TLC. The bed is extremely soft and my husband and I kept rolling to the middle. The TV is nice and clear but uses TVPlus, no cable or satellite for local news or channels. The rooms are very large. I worried that the carpet might smell musty but there were no odors and it looked brand new. He included extras such as a telescope to watch ship traffic, games, books and a nice chess set. I liked the property with big trees and the quiet, neighborhood feel. Parking was easy and you definitely need a car as there aren't a lot of restaurants close by. I want to thank the owner Chuck. He lives on the property and responded to texts immediately. When we were out walking around he was approachable and always asked if we needed anything.

Hidden Gem!

The rooms were clean and well-furnished, and our family of three had plenty of space. We especially enjoyed the waterfront location with free paddle-boarding and kayaking. Very peaceful. Ten to fifteen minutes drive from the beach, assigned parking, and exceptionally friendly and helpful owner and staff all made for a perfect weekend getaway. We will be back!

Quiet, Cozy, Comfortable

Wow! What an incredible place! Lost of nature and gardens all around the place, birds, squirrels, and butterflies everywhere. The amenities are just fabulous. There's a beautiful dock with embedded hammocks to lay over the water in. Highly recommend.

Short weekend fishing trip...

The Panhandle has some of the best spot for fishing...catching fish or not , i always have a good time there , beaches are great and chances are on my side i will be staying at the hideway...always feel like home....thanks to Chuck and his hospitality....I'll recommend to anyone....will be back soon myself....

A Wonderful little tropical resort

Our stay was better than expected!! The customer service is the best of the best!! The landscaping and decorating throughout the area is tropical and relaxing. The “extras” we fabulous!! We definitely will be back soon!!

Hello, I am a property owner and long time builder. I came to Florida several years ago on a major condo project and simply never left. I enjoy the wildlife and nature this area has to offer; including the dolphins I see daily from my home. We are lightly populated with all the activities close at hand, including great restaurants, parks, beaches, shopping and so much more. I enjoy being outdoors; boating, home & yard projects. But, mostly I get a kick out of meeting the wonderful guests that come to experience The Hideaway. The 5 rental units on the waterfront property keep me busy as well as my other units off site. It's great to welcome both vacation and business traveler's to The Hideaway Panama City, Florida. The enjoyment from their comments truly make my day!
