About this property

ski run bike hike 5 min away: historic downtown

This historic building from the 1870's has a tranquil appeal that belies its humble beginnings as a coach house for horse-drawn carriages, and it has been renovated as a separate oasis behind our Victorian home. With cool mountain nights year long, you can wrap up in blanket while snuggling on the recliner or couch, light a fire in the wood burning stove, or cuddle on the patio under the stars warmed by the fire pit. And mountain summer days gives breath to the wildflower garden, gifting hummingbirds flying overhead. Located in the heart of downtown Leadville.

This house features a full kitchen and full bathroom as well as a shared garden sanctuary equipped with outdoor seating, fire pit, and BBQ grill in the summer. Become a kid again and climb up the ladder into the lofted bedroom to play cards and board games in the queen and twin beds that await you.

We provide all the essentials and more, including towels, extra down comforters, a heated blanket, and extra pillows. Stay fresh with organic shampoo, body wash and lotion. Pour yourself a cup of fresh brewed coffee or tea we supply or make a smoothie-to-go with the NutriBullet blender. You can whip up a gourmet meal using the food processor, gas stove, convection oven and top it off with organic spices, or make a quick meal in the toaster oven or microwave.

Note: to conserve water we have a small water heater allowing for 10 min hot showers which replenishes within about 45 min, and there is a ladder to climb to the loft.

OUTDOOR ADVENTURERS: 2 yoga mats are available for your indoor self care needs, because we believe everyone needs a little self-lovin’. Elevate your swollen legs in the recliner, warm your sore muscles with the heated bed mattress, or book a private physical therapy, therapeutic yoga, or meditation session in our Wellness Studio in the main house.

The house is suitable for two people or a small family. The third person will have an extra $30/night charge. Please, no additional guests at this time, no pets, and no smoking in or on the premise. Blessings and Thank You.

Fantastic
I never post reviews!!! Stay here! The property is perfect for a couple looking to escape and enjoy Leadville. Only made it to Winfield during the L100 run, but it had nothing to do with my housing situation! Oh yeah…The host family was almost as great as the housing as well:) A slam dunk, easy, fun, and relaxing weekend. See you next August for 100 miles more!

Spring break getaway
We loved this place! It was perfect for our family (two adults, one 8 year old child). The space was warm and cozy and allowed us to unplug and relax. The kitchen was well stocked and everything we needed was close by. The hosts were especially generous with their time and offered great recommendations for things to do in the area. We would definitely consider staying here again!

Cozy Retreat
We enjoyed the feel of this comfy loft. The house has an open feel... the windows were great to connect you to the beauty outside. There was nice inside storage for our snowboards. After long days on the mountain we enjoyed cooking meals (nicely stocked kitchen) and relaxing. Location can’t be beat. You can easily walk downtown. Hospitality was top notch... we’d love to come back for summers!

Hi! Both me and my husband love laughing, yoga, skiing/snowboarding, making art, gardening, hiking, biking, dancing (maybe me more than my husband :) and meditation (maybe my husband more than me ;) We have two children (18 and 6 yrs old) and love our family. We are clean and neat, enjoy spontaneity, are grateful for our health, and want to share our lives with like minded people.

Why they chose this property

We decided to ditch the fast paced city life and retreat to the highest incorporated city in the United States, surrounding ourselves with year round snow-capped 14,000 foot mountain peaks. Nestled in the heart of town, we were attracted to the charm of this 1870's Victorian home, less than a block off main street, with the original carriage house that has been newly renovated as a guest suite. All the modern updates have been made for comfort but the historic structure remains. This private carriage house includes a wood burning fireplace and comfy loft, giving it a historic glimpse of romantic years gone by. Perfect for the traveler seeking a cozy, warm, quiet, and sunny retreat.

What makes this property unique

The access to world class skiing, white water rafting and kayaking, biking, and hiking is literally in our backyard. We love the easy access to walking downtown to grab a bite to eat, and as outdoor enthusiasts, we love the ease of driving 5 minutes up the street to access the backcountry and miles of FREE groomed trails to cross country ski or fat tire bike. We may drive 30 minutes to ski the slopes of Copper Mountain or Vail Ski Resort. Cool summer days in the 70's are perfect for endless hiking and mountain biking less than a mile away and the beautiful mountain lakes allow for kayaking or rafting down the river. After a day of outdoor adventure, we like to come back to sip a hot beverage on the porch swing or warm up around the patio's fire pit. Or, sometimes it's just relaxing to kick your feet up inside the cozy carriage house with the wood burning stove on, play some games, read a book, and chill.
