About the property

Apartment, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

You’ll be amazed at the elegance and warmth you feel when you take the lift and enter this spacious and completely renovated penthouse on the top floor of this Bourgeois building in the heart of Nice. You will love the light flooding every room from the 10 double-glazed French windows/doors leading to the balcony that completely surrounds the apartment, giving you wonderful views of the city and surrounding hills.

With 2000 sq feet (186 sq meters), you will have plenty of room for eight people to sleep in the four bedrooms that are furnished with hand woven bedspreads from Guatemala and Sardegna. Two bedrooms have queen beds, and two have two twin beds each. Your closet space will be more than ample, and all the floors are terra cotta tile.

Hungry? Just walk across the pedestrian-only street to the large new Monoprix store with gourmet food and its own bakery. It’s so close and easy that you’ll happily buy fresh bread at both breakfast and dinner time. Or enjoy sitting outside having espresso at the large café right next to your building. Restaurants, boutiques, outdoor markets, and great shopping are all nearby.

Back in your apartment you’ll appreciate your fully equipped kitchen with all new appliances: gas cooktop, oven, microwave, refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher, and washing machine. Your large pantry has all the pots, pans, cutlery and dinnerware you’ll need.

Then relax in your double-sized living room with its decorative marble fireplace and flat-screen TV with satellite connection. The spacious formal dining room has another decorative marble fireplace, and there is free Internet Wi-Fi service throughout.

One of your bathrooms has a large tub, two sinks and a toilet; one has a shower and a sink; and a third room has a toilet and sink.

Ready for a walk or the beach or sightseeing? Step outside and take the new tram line right at your front door. Or walk five minutes to the main Nice train station for quick trips east to Monaco, Menton, and the Italian Riviera; west to Antibes and Cannes; or anywhere in France.

Walk ten minutes in the other direction to the main Nice bus terminal, Place Masséna, and the Old City. A few more steps and you are at the famous Promenade des Anglais and the beach.

About The Owner

We are from San Francisco and enjoy the time we get to spend in the Mediterranean areas of France and Italy.

The Owner purchased this apartment in 2006

Why The Owner chose Musicians Quarter

Nice is in one of the most beautiful areas of the world and is a vibrant city. It is close to alpine ski areas, beaches, Monaco, and Italy. Public transportation is wonderful. A car is never necessary. This city is very tourist friendly, easy to shop at the local grocery stores, easy to order in restaurants and cafes-- English is understood. There are local farmer's markets. The beach is a 10 minute walk, as is the Old City of Nice with its historic medieval buildings, narrow winding streets, and unique shops.

What makes this apartment unique

We love being in the heart of the city, where everything is within walking distance. Some of the other things we love: people watching at a sidewalk cafe, while enjoying a coffee or a meal! the views of the hills and/or the rooftops (from the kitchen and bathroom) -- so different from anything in the U.S., watching the seagulls swoop and dive from the kitchen window; the general ambience of this culture.

Group of 5 loved this place!

  • 5 of 5

Only a short 10 minute drive from the airport, this very spacious apartment is located in the heart of Nice. The central location offers restaurants and shopping just steps from the building. The unit is located only a few blocks from the shoreline. Fantastic views of Nice from the balcony that runs the length of the top-floor apartment, the building is equipped with an elevator. The apartment is a perfect layout for a large group with plenty of bathrooms, which were clean. A very well appointed grocery store across the street from the unit offers everything one could want to prepare meals or snacks in the well-stocked kitchen. During the off-season most restaurants close by 9:00PM so check out old town Nice, a pleasant 6 or 7 block walk from apartment for late night dining and entertainment options. Hire a driver to explore the French Riviera. Many world class destinations only a short drive away! The management was very friendly and courteous. We can’t imagine staying anywhere else on our return visit and have been recommending this place to all of our friends and co-workers.

Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

This apartment was the most perfectly located place we could have hoped for. There were six of us and the large space was comfortable for us all. The location could not have been better. We were a block from the tram, right across the street from a wonderful supermarket, and about a three block walk from the train station. The Old Town section was a tram ride away or a short walk and the market there and shops were very interesting. We cooked at home one night and the apartment had everything we needed to enjoy the evening's meal. Would definitely stay here again if it is available.

Decent stay but could use improvements

  • 3 of 5

We had mixed feelings about this rental. Our stay was not terrible, it is just the details that make a stay great, and this apartment lacked those details that make a person feel welcome and well-taken care of.

The good:

-The apartment was very spacious, with more than enough room for the 4 of us.

-It is also in a fantastic location - you can walk to everything.

-The apartment, although old, was very clean.

The bad:

-We checked in on a Sunday, and were told the office was closed but that we could pay extra to have someone pick us up at the airport with keys and instructions on the unit. Since we really felt like we didn’t have another option, we agreed. We were given a packet with instructions on how to enter the apartment, but few other details. We have never been to a rental where there was not someone to go over these things with you, or at least detailed instuctions - we were basically on our own. We did not know how to work certain things (washing machine, portable AC units, for example).

-The street noise is LOUD. Very loud. The tram is literally steps away from the front door of this apartment, and dings loudly about every 5 minutes, and there is also pedestrian noise. This would not normally be a big problem, except we were expecting to sleep with the windows open to stay cool since there are only 2 portable AC units in the apartment. There is no way you can sleep with the windows open with this noise. Two of us actually had a share a room in order to both share one of the AC units, leaving a bedroom unused during our stay. I would recommend that for this very large 4-bedroom apartment, the owners should provide more than 2 portable AC units. I can’t imagine how hot it might have been for us in the summer.

-We had to go buy basic necessities that should’ve been in the apartment when we arrived. There was only half a roll of toilet paper in the entire unit when we showed up, there were no trashcan liners, paper towels, etc. These little details should’ve been taken care of for us.

-We had to pay for our linens and were told we would be charged if we did not clean all of our dishes and put them away. These two costs were outlined up front, but we almost felt like we were being treated like it was a priviledge to stay there. Especially after we had to go buy our own toilet paper and other items for the apartment, it would've been nice not to be charged for every little thing.

Lovely apartment, great (and very lively) location.

  • 4 of 5

We loved this very spacious apartment, nicely furnished apartment. The French doors with shuttered windows leading to the balcony from every room provide lovely Mediterranean charm. And the location couldn't be better for visiting Nice's many attractions - we walked to every place we visited in Nice: the Old City, the beach, the Promenade d'Anglais, museums, and restaurants. The Monoprix right across the street has just about everything one could need, including very good butcher, fish, bread, and cheese shops.

We were 2 families adding up to 4 middle-aged parents, and 4 kids aged 17-20. The apartment is in a good location for families like ours with older kids interested in checking out some of the Nice nightlife.

However, the location is also the only thing that prevents me from giving this place 5 stars instead of 4. We had been to Nice before, and were not expecting complete quiet, but the pedestrian and trolley only street the apartment is on is never quiet and never dark. The double-glazed windows do work quite well at keeping most of the noise out, but, in peak summer season, I still wouldn't recommend this apartment for light sleepers. After the tram stops running around 1 or 1:30, much of the late-night noise is generated by the constant stream of young revelers passing by on their way to and from the bars of the Old City and the budget hotels and hostels near the train station, so I suspect the apartment is much quieter outside the peak summer months.

Beautiful, Convenient Location in Nice FR

  • 5 of 5

I would say the location of the apartment, its amenities and appearance is very accurate. It was very bright and welcoming. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed to prepare meals in the apartment and a Monoprix grocery/bakery was just across the street. If one isn't inclined to walk and see the sights, the tram is just outside the door of the apartment. We took a bus to the Rothschild Museum which has gorgeous gardens and a breathtaking view of the Mediterranean from the dining room where we had lunch. We took a tour bus through the old town, returned another day and attended the local "farmers market/craft fair" where I purchased some lovely souvenirs for my family. Then, we wandered through the lovely old town and walked back to the apartment. The weather co-operated and the sun shone every day. I would certainly recommend this to anyone who wishes to vacation in Nice.

Susan in Colorado

  • 5 of 5

I stayed in this lovely apartment with 5 friends. It is beautifully decorated and has comfortable, spacious common areas. The Wifi was reliable and we loved having use of a phone where we could call the States. We cooked several meals in the small, but well-appointed kitchen. Having a Monoprix right across the street was a big plus for spur of the moment ingredient needs.

The location in downtown Nice was perfect for foot excursions and longer outings using public transportation. The Matisse and Chagall museums were definitely worth visiting, and we greatly enjoyed wandering the streets of the old town. I would recommend Nice and this apartment to friends and family and would gladly return myself.
