Harmony reigns @ the Black Rock Beach House

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we discovered the BlackRock Beach House, we knew that it had to be our next vacation destination. Could this home really exist? The answer is yes and it is more than wonderful!

Our family traveled from KC, DC and FL by planes, cars and ferries. We will gladly do it all over again the next time we have the chance.

We experienced chilly, sunny, rainy and warm weather - virtually every season during our weeklong stay. Each was wonderful!

The BlackRock Beach house made us feel totally safe and secure every day. There were fires in the fireplaces, bonfires on the beach, star gazing in the hot tub, hunts for sea glass, games and puzzles were played as the 7 of us lined the leather sofa & chairs while chocolate chip cookies baked in the oven. Books were left behind when deer approached or hummingbirds appeared and the swoop of an eagle brought everyone to the porch. Exquisite views outside of every window beckoned us each morning. The wonder of the area never stopped and we were reluctant to leave our secret paradise.

Thank you, Barb, for the coffee and tea, dish and clothing detergent, spices & sugar, toilet paper and tissues, garbage bags and plastic wrap, shampoo and great hair dryers! Your home is a dream and we just adore you!

As we were departing, we discovered the binoculars on the floor near the BlackRock Beach House journal. We noticed that our teenage Granddaughter wrote a blessing to the house and to those who visit. We couldn't have thought of a better way to say good-bye!

Fantastic !

  • 5 of 5

We were at the Black Rock Beach House for 4 days for a ' significant ' birthday and we had the family there - such a wonderful place , aside from the totally great location the house is so well appointed and furnished that it made everything so easy - huge kitchen and ' great room ' great for large family dinners . Fantastic walks close by and a special moment when two deer were grazing just down from the main deck ! Thoroughly recommend the Black Rock Beach House - we will be back !

Barb's Beautiful Abode

  • 5 of 5

Oh my, what can I say? I read the reviews. I saw the pictures. I still wasn't sure that it could be all that. But it was.

Our group of six sixty-somethings arrived for storm watching, wine sipping and shellfish munching. We arrived to high winds, rain and crashing surf right outside the window. We were ecstatic. We planned to eat out the first night but could not drag ourselves out of the house. We made dinner in the superb kitchen and drank wine and watched the sea till you could see no more. We laid around the massive couches and loveseat in front of the gas fireplace and visited about what a great first day we had and what was to come.

Through the five days we were there, we hiked all of the Wild Pacific Trail. Three days of wind and storms and two days of bluebird skies and flat seas. Could not have been more perfect. We also managed to hike in Pacific Rim NP on beaches and rain forest trails. Gloriously beautiful.

In between we managed to find our fill of oysters, mussels, clams and local seafood. Prepping for six people in this kitchen is a snap. We could have easily cooked for 10 with no difficulty.

Our early evenings were spent on the deck in the adirondeck chairs and in the hot tub enjoying the last light of the day and the sea. When the sun set, we moved into the room with the wood burning fireplace until it was time for bed.

The bathrooms have showers, big tubs, plenty of linens. Steam shower is great. Since we came from a long way away, the washer and dryer made it easy to travel very light.

The three bedrooms are quite comfortable. I think each bed had a trundle so would be great for kids as well. The linens were superb and the pillows were quite perfect. Each bedroom faces the ocean with good windows to enjoy the sounds of the sea as you slip off to sleep.

We enjoyed the variety of birds we saw. There were deer walking the beach in front of the house. Bald eagles were in the trees around the house and flying overheard the whole time we were there, We even saw a hummingbird by the house. It was February so really did surprise us.

Barb does a fantastic job of making this house an ideal place to escape. I think she has thought of everything that a person would need for the perfect stay. I had asked her to order up storms for us and she even came through with that. Our group will be coming back each winter and will stay no other place. Thanks Barb for the most perfect getaway.

Amazing Waterfront Beach House Will Not Disappoint

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I just spent a superb week at the Black Rock Beach House. We had such a positive experience in this clean, comfortable, well-appointed, yet very beautiful home, which says a lot as we have used VRBO's for many years for our vacation bookings. The furnishings are of good quality and easy to curl up in, the kitchen is incredibly well organized and contains all you could ever need, and the views are to die for. We enjoyed the various sitting areas, and loved spending time in the Timber Room with roaring fires and great conversation. We were lucky enough to catch 2 great storms, and there really is no better vantage point to enjoy the rugged west coast waters of Ucluelet. We walked to town and enjoyed local eateries, hiked the Wild Pacific Trail, watched the sun set, drank fine wine, relaxed in the hot tub, and slept like babies. Does life get any better than this? We would highly recommend the Black Rock Beach House for either larger groups (3 couples with or without children), or for those couples like us, who may want to keep this gem all to themselves. We will be back...Thanks Barb for a wonderful vacation! We miss it already..

Exquisite!!!

  • 5 of 5

We were fortunate to spend four days at this gorgeous beach house!. Everything and more has been thought of at this delightful place. This home is private and glorious with the water right there. Great for poking around while the tide is out. We enjoyed lovely champagne in the hot tub (using plastic glasses provided, thank you)and completely enjoyed watching a morning storm from the tub in the master bedroom. We couldn't be on the west coast without chartering a boat and we were pleased to catch some beautiful ling cod. We were also lucky enough to see some massive sea lions! There is so much to see and do and coming home to a gorgeous beach house that just envelopes you is exquisite! Great thoughtfulness has been put into this house, especially in the kitchen. We truly felt spoiled and our only regret is that our stay was too brief!
