A memorable apartment-it was our favourite place that we stayed at on our trip. Highly recommend it. Lots of room for our family, would also be a great place for 3 couples as each room is on a floor with a bathroom.
Loved the rustic style and the convienent location. Especially if you drive a small car (i.e. Audi A3) to Lucca as parking is at the property’s front door. Overall fun location!

Such a unique property. Kept the original charm/character and enhanced the experience with modern luxuries like gorgeous spa-like bathrooms. So cool. Would stay again in a heartbeat.
The Medieval Tower was wonderful. The beds were comfortable. The bathrooms well appointed. The renovation of the property showed love and ingenuity. The setting was perfect to explore Lucca. If you are going to stay in Lucca this is the place to stay for an amazing experience.

A magical holiday apartment in a great location in Lucca.
The apartment has a decor fitting its medieval origin but is totally modern in all ways necessary for a traveler. We kept finding new touches that showed how well the renovation was thought out. The location is perfect for exploring the old city. It is truly a comfortable place to return to after an active day touring.

My family was absolutely blown away by this property. It was stunning, an incredible location, and such a comfortable place to stay. My family of 6 was very happy there. The only downside was how sad we were to leave. Great comfortable beds, great showers and impressive air conditioning. The location was such a dream. Hope to stay there again soon!

Had a great time at this property. Up-to-date but decorated as old so best of both worlds. Roberto is awesome, highly recommend the property and him.
Keep in mind, lots of steps to get around.

Grazie Jason! Le tue parole mi ripagano della passione investita in questa ristrutturazione fedele!
Felt like stepping back in history into medieval times but with modern comforts. Would definitely stay there again.
Note, if you are going to be driving, make sure your car is on the small and narrow side as you have to drive through very narrow old streets to access the property.
We could not believe the incredible property and location. Roberto has created a beautiful house with amazing attention to detail. I got big points with my friends for finding this place!
We love the medieval tower and Lucca. The location was amazing to lots of little restaurants and a little café just right across the way. We traveled many places, Rome, Florence, Capri Cinque Terre, Pisa and Lucca was my favorite spot to call home from the hustle of big Italy. The home with so unique! Roberto and Giuliano are fabulous hosts! Excellent communication and so kind & helpful. I highly recommend if you go to Lucca stay here! Easy to find from the train station and easier to love

Thank you so much for your wonderful words!
It truly means a lot to us that the medieval tower and Lucca felt like home during your Italian adventure — especially after visiting so many amazing places!
We’re thrilled you enjoyed the location and the little gems around the house. It was a real pleasure hosting you and your group.
Thank you again for choosing us, and we hope to welcome you back anytime you’re in Tuscany!
Loved this property. The only reason I didn’t give it an overall 5star rating were lots of stairs and would have liked to have a relaxing living room area instead of a dining table. I would still recommend to anyone who is ok with that.

Thank you for your review and for appreciating our house.
Being an original medieval Tower House there are steps to reach the upper floors, each one independent with its bathroom and relaxing area in each of the bedroom in front of the large windows.
We preferred a large table in the ground floor beside the kitchen area, just to let guests enjoy their stay together.
We had a fantastic experience staying in the "Tower". Despite being built in the 1200's it had all the amenities we could ask for. The location is amazing. Giulia could not have been more helpful. She met us at arrival and departure and helped with questions throughout our trip. Fantastic experience. Can't wait to go back!!

We had a wonderful stay at this property and it was perfect for our family of four. It truly felt like we were staying in a medieval castle. The villa is lovely and well decorated. The location was excellent. Being able to park right outside our door was so convenient. Roberto & Cristina were very helpful. They met us outside the walls to show us how to get to the villa and provided a lot of information about restaurants, activities, etc.

As wonderful as the pictures make this property look online, it is even more spectacular in person. I would give this place 7 stars if I could. Every meticulous detail has been considered to maximize the enjoyment of the property - amazing mattresses, air conditioning in all the rooms, even the quality of the bath towels (softest ever!). You can tell a lot of thought and love was put into the renovation of this tower to turn it into THE "wow" place to stay in Lucca, a place that seamlessly blends the old (as in 500+ years old) with the new. Roberto the owner was incredibly responsive to us leading up to our stay with all my questions, and his assistant Giulia warmly helped us from the moment we arrived until we left with anything we needed. My kids gave her a hug before we left! My wife and I stayed with our 10 year old, 8 year old, and 3 year old, and staying here was one of their favorite memories from our trip through Italy. All the best to Roberto and Giulia - thank you for such a wonderful memory in Lucca!

Hello Matthew,
I really thank you for your words: We really dedicated all our energies and passion for medieval buildings in Lucca to renovate. Hope to see you and your family again.
Roberto
This was the most beautiful place we have ever stayed in while traveling! It’s almost unbelievable, on 4 levels in a building intended to be a bell tower – wow!
Speaking practically: Edoardo met us at the gates of Lucca and guided us to parking, right in front. The kitchen, bathrooms and air-conditioning are entirely modernized. But everything is decorated to go with the medieval setting – we loved the sculpted stone faucet settings and sinks, the huge banquet table and the lighting. And everything was spotlessly clean. The kitchen is well-stocked, including a much-appreciated dishwasher.
The location is perfect, off a quiet courtyard / parking area, but 1 block from and infinity of restaurants and shops. The outdoor space is simply a patio area between the building and the parking. But it sufficed for us!
We can’t recommend this property highly enough!

This is not an apartment, it’s an incredibly detailed and perfectly-located experience. Hard to describe it, everything inside is done just right and is largely custom or one of a kind. The townhouse adjoins the Duomo tower and you are an arch away from the Duomo entrance. It looks out onto a large square along the side of the cathedral, that was quiet and private the entire time we stayed. Location couldn’t be better. Beds and bedrooms and very comfortable, bathrooms are fully custom and follow the style perfectly. Showers are wonderful and all have supplemental jets. Sinks are rough stone, with faucets mirroring the fountain lions of the piazza in front of the cathedral. Even the wirings runs for the lighting are perfectly and beautifully crafted. Could go on.
Giulia met us and showed us how to drive in and park (right in front of the townhouse!). She was also wonderful when we needed some help.
A wonderful treat for the kids and for us at the end of our trip.

I will surely be back to Lucca for staying in this house. Linen of top quality, new beds, 3 bathrooms, one per floor, with all you need. medieval but fully modern, close to all city attractions, stores and restaurants. You cannot miss to visit the Cathedral, just around the corner!

About the host

I am a certified chartered accountant working and living in Lucca. I was born in Lucca.
Why they chose this property
When I knew that this building was on sale, I immediately got in touch with the seller who was living in Rome. He bought the house twenty years before, by the authorization of the italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage, when it was owned by the Catholic Church. I immediately fell in love with this unique house. I started the faithful renovation, trying to incorporate modern equipment without altering the atmosphere.
What makes this property unique
It is located in the heart of Lucca center. All the materials are original. The atmosphere is magical, staying in the house gives the impression of going back to medieval time, The entrance to the bell tower still exists.
