Natural Beauty Surrounds This Lakefront Property

Floras Lake Natural Area is one of the most unique places on earth. The north end of the lake is separated from the ocean by a sand dune. All the activities of a freshwater lake and the pacific ocean are available in one location. Kites surfers from all over the world visit the lake for its consistent afternoon winds, as well as fishing, boating, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, biking, hiking, and mushroom hunters feast. World class golfing is only minutes away...
This newly remodeled home sits atop a little hill on an acre and a half land. Many amenities have been added with guests in mind. Spacious custom travertine tile showers, one king bed and two queens plus a double sofa, bay windows, lake views, and full granite custom kitchen. Electric romantic fireplace heater with several custom light scenes to choose from. 70 inch smart tv with Netflix and Amazon Prime. Wifi and ample parking. We are 15 miles south of Bandon with Bandon Dunes Golf a short drive away. Port Orford is 12 miles to the south. Both towns have a wider selection of eateries, and evening entertainment. The property has lake access where dozens of fish have been wrangled from the shore. With a sure footed vehicle you can drive next to lake and launch a small boat from the property. Free EV and Tesla charging & cables provided upon request.
We have Wyze cameras (shout out to Wyze, they are amazing cameras for the price) two are clearly visible underneath the spotlight above the garage door. These cameras only record the driveway and parking areas. If you want more space/bed/bathroom there is an attached but separate studio, that has another queen bed, kitchenette, and spacious shower & bathroom. You can rent both together, search "Hilltop Lake View". We only rent one listing at a time. To be clear if you do not need the extra space it will remain unbooked.

Fantastic time! The house met all of our expectations. We wished we could've spent more time there, but we mostly used it as a basecamp for many adventures aroubd the area. The view, what can I say, not something you can explain, you just have to experience it.

House was nice and a great deck with views of the lake. The only downside is no real area to lounge as the current couch set up does not really work

Great Location to Lake and Beach

Great Location to Lake & Beach. It is only 1400 sq ft. so keep that in mind. It definitely has some quirks. Living room to small to have more than 3 people comfortable. Kitchen has what you need. I would of liked Hand mixer and cookie sheets. But it had everything else. Wish the master had the King size bed. Bathroom downstairs had barn doors that want to bang each other. Melanie was friendly and told us about a bunch of cool places to visit.

Pretty good getaway in the woods

This is a nice little place, but a few things to note: this house is far away from any places to eat or things to do (including no path to walk around the lake - you can walk down to the water and that’s about it), so you will want to plan accordingly (eat before you come back or bring groceries with you). Also, the couch leaves a lot to be desired if you want to gather to watch a movie. This house can sleep 6ish people, but maybe 3 can sit together on the couch and any other chairs aren’t super comfortable. Other than those two considerations, this was a great place to stay with a beautiful view of the lake and you can still hear the sounds of the ocean. Thanks for letting us stay at your beautiful home!

Lakes End Rental

Overall, we had a pleasant experience staying at the Lakes End house. PROS: 1. Beautiful view of the lake from the patio and the dining/kitchen areas. 2. Property manager was courteous and quick to answer our questions and requests. 3. House itself was clean and fairly well supplied. 4. The heads up on managing the steep driveway and parking area was appreciated. There was enough room for 2 and perhaps 3 regular vehicles. CONS: 1. The multiple stairs were a challenge, especially for one member who had issues with climbing. 2. Access to the lake's edge was very difficult due to steepness of the grounds. 3. Sofa in the TV viewing/dining area was uncomfortable and we ended up watching mostly sitting on dining room chairs.. 4. Kitchen appliances and utensils were adequate. We have learned to bring our own kitchen supplies and not depend on supplies being provided The BBQ grill was ancient but still worked. 5. The 3 mini-refrigerators were a puzzle. Why not one regular sized frig? Also the down stairs frig was unplugged and we did not realize this condition until all our frozen foods had thawed.

Nice lake view

Overall our stay was fine. The place was clean and check in and out was easy. I just wish the place was more comfortable. The bed springs were uncomfortable, the couch was basically a twin bed with cushions on the back and it was missing some of the normal things that a house someone actually lives in would have. The wifi was spotty and although the host said there was a booster, there wasn’t and when I asked about it I never got a response. Also, we couldn’t figure out how to work the dishwasher so some instructions would be helpful since it seems to function differently than any one in our group was used to. I also understand why the recommend using the outside stairs because indoor ones look pretty but are not practical since they have a split in the middle of the tread just big enough to get your toe stuck in and didn’t feel super stable. It also would have been nice to have at least one more television in the place. There was one there but is mounted in the stairwell so the sounds echo throughs the whole place and if anyone is trying to sleep it is not ideal. Most of the issues aren’t really deal breakers, but would potentially keep me from staying there again or recommending this place to a friend.

Beautiful house on the lake

We enjoyed the quiet house on the lake. Very peaceful. I wasn’t made aware that the room by the adjoining garage would be rented when I booked it. I might not have booked it because it wasn’t completely private, but as it turned out we didn’t notice anyone next to us.

Secluded retreat

A bit out of the way, but thIs is the charm of this property. Bring your groceries and enjoy the solitude. There was some construction noise from an adjacent property, and you can see other houses around the lake, but you feel like you have the area to yourself. The house itself is clean and nicely maintained. Nice lake view. Hiking and a short walk to the ocean is very close by.

Beautiful views

Such a blessing to be able to get away. Cozy rooms and the deck made this trip. Good for small reunions or an old family trip. Not too close to the water and a good distance from town. The only issue I had has nothing to do with the listing itself. Just in the morning we were expecting to use the deck chairs to watch the sunrise with coffee and the studio was rented out so the couple was out. Again nothing wrong or misleading.

Relaxation time

The house was just what we needed as a gathering place for the family. The view was wonderful and the area was quiet. We had plenty of room for the 7 of us. There was lots of space for our young grandsons to run around outside in the yard.

Renter be aware

The property and location were wonderful. One thing to be aware of is that this property manager has another property that is located on the same property as the main house. Actually it is attached to the other side of the garage. So if you are hoping to get the place all to yourself, you will need to rent two properties. I was unaware of this and accidentally disturbed the other renters when we were checking in while looking over the place. Also, I'm not sure what happened to all the screens on the windows so if you are thinking about opening the windows at night to cool things off, you will also be letting in the bugs. It was a good thing we had only planned on staying the one night and not doing much cooking because a couple hours before the 4pm check in time, I was informed the stove top wasn't working. The single burner that was provided was not worth the hassle of using to cook breakfast before leaving the next day. Overall a decent property but I would not stay here again due to the shared rental attached to the garage.

It is all about the view

There is no question rain or shine the view is amazing. The home is OK but not very comfortable and the kitchen is terrible. First the sofa while probably modern is really uncomfortable. Very difficult to enjoy the amazing large TV they have. Second the deck has no cover. So while your really paying all that money for the view in the rain you cannot enjoy it unless your sitting in the rain. Plus the deck furniture is awful. It was more comfortable to sit on the deck and lean against the wall than sit in the furniture. Third The kitchen has so many failures hard to give it a single number. The refrigerator does not really exist. They have 2 form refrigerators that hold very little. Terrible design. Only one person at a time in this tiny kitchen. The pots and pans are awful why go so cheap when your charging top dollar. The exhaust fan is worthless filled the house with smoke trying to cook bacon. Again it was difficult for a couple to get by in this kitchen a family would be a total disaster. My feeling is this property is very over priced and is poorly prepared for a top end rental. I would not reccomend it for more than a single night. Personally we will never go back

Raised in the northwest, avid wind surfer, then kite surfer, then kite foiler, paddle surfer, now wing foiler, and golfer too. We've been coming to Floras lake for over 25 years. Kay loves running and hiking, and making amazing meals with the vegetables and fruit from Valley Flora.

Why they chose this property

Floras lake is the western most freshwater lake in the USA and is renown for its steady winds, and the nearby world class golfing. The ocean is close enough that you can hear the waves crash on the beach. On clear nights there is a brilliant blanket of stars to enjoy.

What makes this property unique

We don't know of anyplace else where there are so many world class activities to participate in. The fruits and vegetables are amazing from a Valley Flora, a farm fed by spring and creek water from a water source that has never had any industry. Bandon Dunes golf complex; Bandon Crossings; Fantastic wild caught seafood; kiting; kite surfing; surfing; paddle surfing; wind surfing, wing foiling, hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing... It has all the activities/food we love in a post card setting.
