The place was perfect and easy to access, with very clear instructions. We had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. There were plenty of beds and blankets for everyone, and a fully equipped kitchen for cooking. The kids loved the Dinosaur House, which was only a 10-minute walk from the house.
Great place to stay for our biking trip into Bridge to Nowhere. Very family friendly with comfortable beds and well maintained. Just perfect for what we needed.
Fully equipped house with cool 70s decor and lots of beds. Very quiet with lovely countryside all around. Close to shops, dinosaur museum. Host very quick to communicate and resolved a minor issue very well.
This was our first time staying in a Bach and it has exceeded every single one of our expectations! Kelvin the property manager was so kind and easy to communicate with regarding all our questions. The Bach is incredibly spacious and homely, the fireplace keeps everything nice and toasty, and the facilities were all well kept and tidy. The view of Ruapehu and the stars at night can’t be beaten. We had a wonderful time, would highly recommend this property!
The kitchen and bathroom were clean and the host was pretty responsive when we had a problem. That's about where the positives ended. Let's start by clarifying that we arrived after it had gotten dark. We had to come up a gravel drive that was really more of a grassy hill, and my husband had to get out and open a gate, and we almost got stuck when I stopped on the other side to let him back in. We ended up having to walk around the house with my phone light to find the lock box because it was on the far side of the building. We get inside and there's no power or water, cause we have to turn them on. In the dark. Thankfully I read ahead and brought our own sheets, but the vague smell from the carpet and furniture gave us "never been cleaned" vibes. Perhaps it's a cultural difference, but I definitely wouldn't stay here again.

I am sorry that our traditional kiwi bach did not meet the expectations of our US visitors.
However, I would point out that the information that we provide to all our guest (before they arrive), clearly states that the bach is not serviced accommodation, it is located in a quiet rural area, and there is a need to turn both the water and power on. It was the guest’s choice to arrive after dark.
Further, the bach is a family holiday home built to provide Skiing accommodation, and during the ‘shoulder’ seasons it remains empty for long periods. The family reside in Wellington, but have regular ‘working bees’ to maintain & clean the bach and stock firewood for the winter months

We had an enjoyable stay. Would not hesitate to stay again. Very cozy and warm. :-)
House was nice and warm with very cold weather, beds were comfy. Was renting to do a few local hikes but weather changed that so day trip to Taupo instead which property was still close enough to
Do this. A++ property.
Great way to get away for a few days, easy experience booking the house. A lovely quiet spot just on the edge of town, and had everything we needed.
Thanks Kelvin, we might just come again!
This was a great wee bach to stay in while we skied for a few days. It's basic but had everything we needed and was great for the price. The fireplace kept us toasty warm. The only downside was that the shower ran out of hot water quite quickly each day (yes, the power switch to tank was on) and we aren't used to such low pressure water. But otherwise it was great and met our needs. Also, nobody was booked after us so we were allowed a 6pm checkout which was much appreciated. We would definitely book here again.
