Villa Las Palmas is located on the beaches of Playa Pelada right on the outskirts of Nosara. The next beach over is Guiones Beach known for its fantastic waves. Less than a 5 minute drive or 15 minute walk to Guiones Beach. Which is considered 1 of the top 10 most consistent waves for surfing in the world.
The rental is on the 1st floor. Featuring 2 bedrooms, 2 baths and can sleep up to 4. With its beautifully landscaped grounds, community pool right along the ocean. Enjoy the picturesque view from the covered patio and relax in the hammock while listening to the ocean and sounds of the wildlife.
I have a total of 3 ac units so you can relax in comfort or you can open the newly installed sliding windows and let the ocean breeze flow through. I have bars on the sliding windows to prevent the monkeys or other wildlife from getting in as well. The community also has guards there at night so you can relax in comfort and security. The community also has a laundry service available.
Villa Las Palmas is within walking distance to 4 restaurants, the market and a nearby fishing village. Explore the beaches, ride the waves or spend some time sightseeing. There are also rental places for kayaking, snorkeling, fishing and other outdoor activities for the adventurer. Nosara Retreat is only a few minutes away for Yogi’s and fans of spirituality and personal development.
It is convenient to walk to shopping and the other amenities. Since this is a small enclave, you will almost always have the whole secluded section of Playa Pelada to yourself. Walk down the beach to La Luna to enjoy a great mix of Greek and Mediterranean cuisine. On the way to La Luna you will also see Olga's. La Luna and Olga’s are located at the south entrance of Playa Pelada and this is where the small fishing boats come in. If you walk down there early in the morning you can buy fish directly from the fishermen. Craving some great brick oven pizzas then you also have Il Peperoni right in Playa Pelada.
Another great bar and restaurant right there is El Chivo. (My personal favorite.) They have live music nights and fantastic Mexican food for great prices.
High-speed wireless internet included along with a 1 Smart TV, 1 regular TV w/ DVD players and collection of DVD's I leave there. You can use your own personal Netflix or other streaming account. Or bring your own DVD's along with you as well. But why watch a movie when you can enjoy all the sights and sounds of Playa Pelada?
The rental comes complete with all the necessary items to fully enjoy your stay. All kitchen appliances, smoothie maker, utensils, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, George Foreman grill, towels, linens, and trash bags.
This area of Costa Rica has water shut off from 3pm to 8am. To combat that I have installed a 750 gallon water tank so you have no worries and can thoroughly enjoy every hour of your stay.
I have a local English speaking administrator that can assist you with any of your needs along with periodically checking in to make sure all your needs are met.
Las Palmas is the perfect place to relax and rediscover living again.
There is a cleaning service for $50 if you have an extended stay and would like to have the rental cleaned out while you enjoy yourselves.
Checkout is noon and check-in at 3pm.
I provide enough toiletries for a few days. Renter will be responsible for providing their own supplies which can be purchased locally.
Don't want to rent a vehicle? Here's a tip. You can fly into San Jose airport(SJO) and then fly Nature Air to Nosara. Otherwise Liberia Airport to the property is a little over 2hr drive with a rental vehicle.
Taxi's are available from the airport.
My wife and I live in Pawley's Island, SC. I have been in the South all my life. Started surfing when I was a kid. Came down in 2000 to Nosara. I enjoyed the world class surf. I fell in love with the area and decided I wanted to own a property there. My wife and I visit a few times a year to walk the beach and enjoy the surf and local community. One of the best places I have ever visited.
DICK SMITH purchased this townhome in 2003
My wife and I enjoy the warm weather and great waves. I like to surf and fish. There's a bat cave and turtle sanctuary all within the area. Nosara is a growing area that is loaded with a lot of different cultures from all over the world. My wife was raised in Europe and speaks fluent Spanish. However most people down there are fluent in multiple languages. We find the beach in front of our rental to be one of the most pristine beaches we've ever seen. Our community around us within the condo complex are all great people to hang out with.
The beaches are beautiful. The monkeys all love to hang out around the condos. There's some really neat Iguana's and other lizards. It literally is Pura Vida the Pure Life. Also the food is all organic grown or caught locally. Which is a huge plus in my book. You can even walk down to the fishing village and buy locally caught fish yourself. Another unique benefit is that their breads are as good as NY's. In the area is a large grocery store that has most the American things you might need during your stay.
I stayed for ten days - everything was as promised. The property is very safe and quiet. The house is extremely spacious and comfortable with a really good kitchen to prepare meals. Oscar, the caretaker, was very responsive and helped right away anytime I contacted him. I will come back and stay again for sure!! Thankyou!!
Our week at Playa Pelada was wonderful, in large part because Las Palmas was the perfect beach retreat. Dick was a great host, and Oscar, the local contact, was super nice, attentive, and a quickly took care of a few minor issues. The walk to Playa Guiones (20 min), where our family took surfing lessons, was a gorgeous way to begin and end an active day, and Pelada was a quiet alternative - almost like a private beach - when we wanted down time. Excellent restaurant nearby (La Luna), as well as a more traditional tico bar/resturaunt (Olga's). The condo was large, comfortable, and well supplied, with comfortable beds. Lots of windows and fans made it easy to keep the air circulating (we never turned on the AC). Highly recommended!
We just returned home after staying in this unit for 8 days in mid-December. The place was just absolutely perfect for our family of four, and exceeded expectations in every way. The condo isn't just "updated", it also has unusual improvements that greatly added to our stay, such as the privacy glass on all the windows in both bedrooms. Very nice. The owners were also easy to work with, gave us plenty of info before out stay and then left us alone the entire time. They have an on-site manager, Oscar, who came by the first night, and then came over one other morning when we needed help. It's clear the owners have been doing this long-enough to have it pretty dialed out.
- A nice, updated interior, accurately shown in the pictures;
- Good dining space both inside and outside;
- Well furnished;
- AC units worked well;
- Well stocked kitchen with beautiful cabinets and counters.
- Nicely furnished, good taste;
- A generous book and video library.
Additionally, the location of the Villas Las Palmas complex exceeded all our expectations. This is possibly the closest you can be to the beach, having only to walk out the back gate of the complex into a private path to the beach (2 minutes). The beach is great for kids; from there, we would walk 10 minutes to restaurants in one direction, or to tide pools and a jungle trail in the other. We ended up hanging out at Olga's and Luna's a lot since we could eat on the beachfront while watching the kids play in the water. Lots of good walking around the village too.
The complex has about 30 units, and there was a nice mix of owners and repeat vacationers. Everyone was friendly, and we spent time socializing both at the pool and at the beach in front of the complex. The howler monkeys came by each morning, moving west to east in the treetops on the property line. Very cool.
Edited to add:
I have one possible insight into the review from the person complaining about flea bites. In the evenings on the beaches, we noticed that some kind of microscopic biting insects came out if we sat too close up to the vegetation on the beach edge (we found this at several Guanacaste beaches). It's easily avoided but if you were an infant sleeping in, say, a car seat up in the shade while the adults were down at water's edge, you could get bitten pretty good. This seems an easy explanation, especially given that they, like us, were there in December. The condo itself is definitely too nice for fleas.
My wife and I have stayed at Dickie and Sam's property 2x already. Each time he has made upgrades to the unit. He added a water tank which is a must have since they cut off water at night there. Plus his local caretaker always makes sure the place is in tip top shape. Plus he just added a hammock on the deck in the shade which is super relaxing. Highly recommend it if you are looking for a spot to unwind and just enjoy the tropical ocean.
My husband and I stayed here in October of 2015, and we completely enjoyed our time. The condo itself is beautiful with all the conveniences of home. The large shaded porch was a perfect spot for an outdoor dinner or just relaxing. The pool was nice for an afternoon dip after a day in the sun, and at night we turned off all the lights to sit under the stars.
The location is ideal...it is literally a two minute walk to Pelada beach. This beach is great for a morning swim or watching the sunset with an evening cocktail. In about fifteen minutes you can be in town in Guiones or heading out into the waves for a surf session. There's lots of surf rental shops in town...we liked Cocoanut Harry's. There are a lot of good choices here for eating out, but don't miss a dinner at La Luna and at least a sunset cocktail at the Hotel Lagarta. There are so many activities and something for everyone to do here. We spent most of our time relaxing on the beach because we love the ocean, but there are also great excursions into the jungle on horseback , fantastic animal and bird tours as well as water sports and zip lining.
We have visited many Costa Rican beach towns, and this is by far our favorite! We really loved Nosara, and when we return, we will definitely be staying at these condos again. Highly recommended!
My fiance and I stayed at Mr. Smith's condo for 7 days/6nights, and all I can say is WOW! This place is beautiful. The decor is perfect for Costa, it has items that were made by the locals(pottery, wood carvings, etc) and the modern conveniences of the States. The tile work is gorgeous and makes for easy cleanup. The outside is magical, the grounds are in full bloom and the monkeys are playing in the treetops. The pool is well kept and peaceful. To get to the beach (a 2 minute walk), you walk down a walkway right to the beach. We enjoyed when the tide was out, looking at the tide pools to see what was left behind. Also in walking distance was an adorable patio restaurant and small grocery. We did go exploring to neighboring towns, but honestly you need not venture far because everything is in walking distance from Villas Las Palmas. We cannot wait to to go back, maybe a honeymoon get away. Thank you for an unforgettable experience.
