1. Hot water in the main bathroom:
We added a hot water heater to the main bathroom. The other washrooms have regular-temperature water.
Background: Most homes in El Salvador do not have hot water. At our location, due to the hot weather (really hot!), the water comes out nicely warmed from the tap. If you're coming to El Salvador to experience the country and culture, it's part of life here. However, for anyone from the U.S./Canada who prefers a hot shower — we’ve got you covered!
House rules:
Private gated community; entrance closes 10:00 PM
Pet-friendly (1 pet included in booking)
No parties (penalty $500)
No smoking indoors
Daily pool & garden maintenance by Abel (housekeeper) every morning
Water pressure may temporarily reduce upstairs during peak demand hours; all other bathrooms remain fully functional
Maximum 8 guests & 1 pet per booking price. 2 additional guests (max 10 people capacity of the house) are EXTRA $35 per person per night and require host's approval. Security cameras on property.
Guests agree to pay for any damage caused to the property or cost of repair or replacement for any item damaged.
Guests automatically agree to comply with these rules at the time of booking.

We love the ocean, surfing, good food, and creating memorable travel experiences. Hosting Villa Calmar is our way of sharing the beauty of Playa San Blas and Surf City with guests from all over the world. We enjoy meeting new people, making sure they feel at home, and helping them discover the best of El Salvador.

We chose Playa San Blas because it offers the perfect balance of beauty, culture, and convenience. The neighborhood is peaceful and safe, with a private gated entrance, yet just steps from one of the best sandy beaches in Surf City. We enjoy sunsets on the volcanic-sand shore, and having local surf schools, beach restaurants, and small shops only minutes away. It’s also easy to reach El Tunco (8min drive) for nightlife or San Salvador (35-45mins) for city trips. What we enjoy most is that Villa Calmar feels like a private tropical retreat while still being close to everything.
