  • First time traveler in El Salvador. I loved Casa Tortuga!

"I must admit this one was one of the best experiences. Casa Tortuga is one of the most comfortable homes I've stayed at. I was amazed how much space we had, the property is huge. The location, the privacy and the home met and exceeded all of our expectations. This home was great for our group who visited El Salvador for 12 days. Ana Rosa was our cook, she was unbelievable. She did the most amazing job with the preparation of our food. Anything we asked for was available and the way she prepared it was delicious. She was very creative on cooking; we had some of the most delicious cooking I've ever had. She cooked fish, ceviche, seafood cocktails, pastries, delicious breakfasts, and the list goes on and on. The wooden deck was amazing, we spent countless hours at any time of the day, relaxing and staring at the ocean. The hammocks were very comfortable, we loved laying there and relaxing. From the pool to the ocean- only steps away we could not imagine a better time here. We loved the pool; it is very clean and well maintained. If you are looking for a restful get away with your family or with a group of friends, this house is the place to be. The owner Marius was very easy going, he was a wealth of information about the area and the nearby tourist attractions. We are highly recommending this home to anyone looking to get away for some rest and relaxation. El Salvador and specifically Casa Tortuga are a great destination; we are highly recommending this home to anyone looking for a relaxing get away. We will return back for sure to Casa Tortuga in the near future!"

  • Fabulous!

"Beautiful location with stunning views and a great pool. The beds are comfortable and there are all the facilities you could want. Plenty of places to sit and relax whatever the weather. The local beach is lovely and we loved the restaurant near by. It's also very easy to get on to the main freeway and explore the scenic routes."

  • A magical and perfect holiday away!

"This was our first trip to El Salvador. We couldn't have picked a better place for our home-base! This home is beautiful, safe, well equipped and was perfect for our party of seven. Travelling with two families can always be a challenge, but the home provided comfortable bedrooms for all, private bathroom space, two kitchens- indoor and out and two entertainment rooms. Plenty of space to commune or to find a quiet corner alone. The pool was a favorite with the kids and the views spectacular! Just a short jungle walk to a private, gorgeous beach. We went every day! The movie projection room was a real treat, and provided some great chill time when the sun went down. The house staff was beyond all expectation! Ovidio the day to day house supervisor was a God send! He drove us to all day trip destinations, was a wealth of knowledge and when he was unsure he assisted us in navigating the best experiences. He knew all the best roadside food stands if you care to be adventurous- the food in E.S. is fantastic, he was quick to respond if we needed anything and was accommodating beyond measure! His wife Maria and her assistant Yancelle were also incredible and took care of any housekeeping needs. Mercie, the homeowner, was a wealth of knowledge in advance. Went above and beyond to make sure our experience - from planning to completion - was all that we desired it to be. We've stayed in many VRBO rentals around the world and it was unanimous that this was tops! If our future travels take us to El Salvador, we wouldn't stay anywhere else!"

  • Lovely House - Perfect for a family reunion!

"Visited August 25-31, 2016. The house is beautiful, modern, well-maintained, and very private. COMMON AREAS are open concept: living room/dining-room/kitchen. There is a large TV (no cable), DVD player with lots of movies. Evenings are hot, even with all doors open. I’d like to suggest a couple of ceiling fans OR tower fans. BEDROOMS: The four bedrooms are in a separate, lockable wing; we slept feeling very secure. All bedrooms have A/C, which is a must for the hot and humid nights. CARETAKERS: Maritza and husband are sweet and helpful. We hired them for additional services (cooking/cleaning/washing). Maritza is an excellent cook; give her instructions how you want the food prepared. The wash: I am afraid, though, without a washing machine, washing for a large family (we were 10 people) it’s a bit taxing, especially with the humid, rainy weather. I'd like to suggest a washing machine! LOCAL FOOD STORES/ATTRACTIONS: We ate a lot of fresh fish purchased at the Co-Op less than two miles away. The fish arrives fresh daily. There are many little stores outside; the staff will run errands for you (small fee). Otherwise, there is a Super Talpa supermarket 5 miles away. CAR RENTAL: strongly suggest a car retal, for errands, local attractions, to/from airport, etc. Driving is easy and safe. The directions provided are easy. RESTAURANTS: a couple of western style restaurants are nearby. Many little kiosks right outside the house open at night and prepare pupusas, we didn't feel lucky. Maritza can make these for you! ATRACTIONS: Less than 15 miles away is Estero y Mar, on Pimental Beach. We ate lunch and took a mangrove tour by boat, or you can hire kayaks. THE BEACH: The beach itself was a bit of a let-down the sense that there were rip tides present (we took a couple of nasty tumbles). It is not a flat beach, and dips into the ocean. People should not venture alone into these waters, and kids need to be supervised. Other than that, it’s a nice beach for viewing and walks in the evening. SECURITY: The house has open access to the beach, and there is light gate; we felt safe at all times. Plus locking the sleeping quarters area, gave us a sense of security. SUMMARY: A lovely house, spacious, comfortable, with a beautiful, clean swimming pool! The owners are also lovely and we kept open communication going before traveling. Bring your favorite cooking spices, or things that you can’t do without, as those may not be found there. Highly recommended!"
