About this property

Woodland Trails Cabin on 130 acres with wildlife and miles of private trails

The Woodland Trails Cabin overlooks the St. Croix River Valley. Located on 130 acres, there are over three miles of private trails for hiking and snowshoeing (we provide snowshoes).

From May through October, a complimentary Golf Cart is provided for touring the trails in comfort.

Your well-behaved one or two dogs are welcome.

This cabin has all the modern conveniences including air conditioning, wood-burning fireplace, internet, two TVs and a spacious, fully-equipped kitchen. Outside there is a fire pit with wood provided.

Bring your four-wheelers or snowmobiles. In Pine County, it is legal to ride on the roadside to a major trail system 1/2 mile north of the cabin. We have plenty of parking for trailers.

While our address is Hinckley, we are located 23 miles east of Hinckley, near the St. Croix River and the Wisconsin border. We are just four miles from Danbury, Wisconsin.

We are an easy two-hour drive from the Twin Cities, St. Cloud or Eau Claire and just over an hour from Duluth.

Besides enjoying the view, perhaps with a real-wood fire in the fireplace, guests enjoy watching the birds at feeders outside.

Two casinos are nearby: St. Croix Casino in Danbury and Grand Casino in Hinckley.

Canoeing and tubing on the St. Croix and Namekagan Rivers through Pardun Conoe Rental in Danbury.

Four-wheeling? Bring yours or rent from
Throttle RX Rentals in Danbury.

St. Croix State Park, Minnesota's largest, has activities in every season. Crex Meadows Wildlife Area in Grantsburg has great wildlife watching, particularly during spring and fall migrations. Forts Folle Avoine in Webster, Wisconsin is a reproduction of an 1803 fur trading post.

What are your interests? Let us know and we will be happy to make suggestions.

Rates: The base rate covers two guests. The rate for each additional guest is $25 per person per night and is shown under "Host Fees" and "Additional Guests".

Relaxing weekend
We love coming here! Its the first place we look at when we plan our spring trip. It's so nice that we have miles of hiking trails for us and the pups to enjoy right out the door. We got out each day. The kitchen has everything we need. We enjoyed relaxing by the firepit and the fireplace.Thank you for sharing your space with us!

Perfect Tranquility
This is my 6th stay at this property. I come for peace and tranquility. We love watching the birds and hiking through the property. And we always love going to the local meat raffle in Danbury (4 miles away).

Wonderful weekend -- thanks!!!
If you enjoy nature and also a comfortable beautiful cabin with amazing views, come for a stay. The cabin is built into the side of a hill near the top, and you can see the St. Croix river basin and the river itself just to the east. There is a walk-out to a patio and firepit area. Everything in the cabin and on the grounds is extremely well maintained. Great trails that are marked and mapped, too. We had a chance to talk with John, one of the owners, and enjoyed our conversation. He really cares about this property, and it shows -- he's doing a great job. When we arrived, the lights were on in the yard and near the door. Very welcoming! Will be back again.

Getaway
This is the third time we’ve stayed here for our anniversary. The cabin always has everything we need for cooking breakfast and dinner. We also enjoy that they have the grill there for our use. We appreciate that they allow dogs. We have a pair of Goldens that love to run free. I think that they enjoyed hiking the trails more than we did.

Great Getaway!
My husband & I had a relaxing time at the cabin. It was very clean, cozy, and had everything you needed. Of note, the lodge is not too far away from the cabin, so you do have neighbors. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and loved riding around in the golf cart!

My husband and I have stayed at The Lodge on the property with my parents and family for the past few years, but this was our first time at The Cabin. The amenities are everything you could ever need in a home; they have thought of everything! The view is so unique and the trails are our favorite. Outstanding again
Four of us were here to relax in the quiet environment, play cards, eat out and . . . of course, shop. Spent much time playing bridge on the screened porch . . delightful. Enjoyed a spin on trails with the golf cart and by the way, thank you for the wine! One of the foursome was a first timer and she agreed with us that this is a top notch cabin in every way.

Perfect for us
We've stayed here many times and it's perfect for us. The birds on the feeder entertained again during our morning coffee and other times as well. Good idea to put the decals on the front windows to discourage birds who think they can fly through. I liked the lights and garland above the windows in the screened porch; great addition. Excellent paths for me to walk our dog. We like that the caretakers are nearby should we need something for a problem/ none needed this time. Your cabin and property help to make our stays up north just perfect! Thank you.

About the host

Hosted by John & Sandra O'Reilly

Host profile image
We, John & Sandra, moved the Cabin to its present site in 2003 when we built a B & B, which is now called the Lodge, across the field. The cabin was completely remodeled at that time and has been continuously improved since.

The Lodge and Cabin are our retirement projects which we have found to be really enjoyable.

Why they chose this property

Unique about the Cabin is that it is located on our woodland with miles of private trails and a great view of the St. Croix River Valley. The trails are for hiking in summer and snowshoeing in winter (we have complimentary snowshoes).

What makes this property unique

There are over three miles of groomed trails that wind through our woods and past the Beaver Pond. You can hike on our trails or, if you prefer, from May through October, tour with a golf cart which is complimentary. In winter we have snowshoes.
