We stayed here for a few years and every year has been very clean and in great condition. Really appreciate the consistency , we had another great stay
We have wanted to stay at Sandy Hook for a long time and were beyond excited when this propery popped up. Super clean, cozy and exactly what we needed. Couldn't have asked for a better location and enjoyed watching all the deer around the property. Would definitely love to book again the next time we are in the area.
The home is immaculate and Dan is a wonderful host! This was our second stay at one of Dans properties and we plan to return every year. The home is immaculate and has everything you could possibly need. Fort Hancock is a perfect place for a family beach vacation that won’t hurt your wallet.
Enjoyed everything about this vacation. The rental property was very clean and comfortable. We saw a lot of wildlife on our walks and the sunrises and sunsets were spectacular. Also enjoyed our dinners at the Mule Barn.
This historic home has been very nicely renovated, but still retains its 1800’s charm. We were impressed with the cleanliness and the location is perfect for exploring all the interesting sights of Sandy Hook. We also loved that the owner allows dogs. We stayed here for a long weekend getaway to celebrate our anniversary. We could not have picked a nicer place. Would definitely go back.
The property is part of the Fort Hancock historic buildings and the Gateway National Recreation Area. You are never too far from the sand, the wave, and good places to eat. We had a lovely time exploring the area. The house was cozy, comfortable, and clean. Definitely recommend.

Good directions for entering kitchen facilities were good except for coffee machine
Perfect place to get away from NYC for a few days. Even with very cold temps & howling winds, the stay was a delight. Mule Barn Tavern has a lively sports bar ambiance, with good food, drinks & service. Did the lighthouse tour & Full Moon Walk with Park rangers who were excellent! Biking is 1st-rate!
I've come here in the summertime, but there's something about the quiet of the beach mid-winter. The house is VERY comfortable, and there's so much to do that's not your typical bustling shore town getaway. This is serenity, natural beauty and did I say comfortable? A great place to recharge. Will definitely be back.
Loved staying here! Very well renovated, quiet and a throwback to staying on this base as a kid. Dan was very responsive which was a life saver when I locked myself out of the house by mistake!
Spent a lot of time out doors walking the base, the beaches and nature trails. Attended the Nike site open house, saw History house, the lighthouse museum, the Gunnison volunteer day, and the chapel. Good base for going to Asbury Park, etc.
Stayed in this house on Sandy Hook for 3 days. It’s the 2nd time my husband and I have rented from Dan . House is beautiful, clean and comfortable. We are also happy to be able to bring our Dog as it is also pet friendly. Sandy Hook is beautiful with Beaches, Bays, beautiful wildlife, sun rises and sunsets. Dan is very friendly, and accommodating. Check in is easy. We will definitely be going back. A wonderful place to stay
Well renovated former military quarters one hundred steps from the bayside of Sandy Hook peninsula. We saw deer, multiple types of birds, fox, turtles, and a whale! Away from the Jersey Shore crush, and uniquely positioned to allow for 2 mile walks on the sand, while looking at the NYC skyline in the hazy distance, this well appointed house gave us wonderful sunsets, interesting history hikes and great access to the area right around Sandy Hook park, filled with restaurants!
Just loved this rental! Situated at the top of the peninsula on an old army base was such a cool experience. You have the bay on one side and the ocean on the other! We walked to the Mule Tavern for supper every night (not just bar food….I loved the crabcakes!). The house was extremely clean and updated. If you have bikes, bring them! The park has a five mile bike path that follows the beach…so fun! We went every morning to town for breakfast…many nice places to eat. Our favorite thing to do was sit on the front porch in the evening and watch all the deer come out in the front yard, then walk over to the bay and watch the sunset. Highly recommend this VRBO!
