We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The cabin was amazing and very clean and cozy. The beds were comfortable and we had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend. We loved the art work, the relaxing front porch and the multitude of birds singing. It was truly a getaway. Thank you so much for sharing this cabin and all the special extras for breakfast!
The house was very clean with a fully stocked kitchen. Breakfast items provided by the owner was a very nice touch. Owner was quite accommodating and easy to work with. If you like a country setting, this property is for you. During our weekend stay, we saw turkey and deer in the front yard. Very quiet and very relaxing. We would definitely recommend and will book again if we are ever in the area.
We had a wonderful 3 night stay, the hosts were very nice and had a breakfast for us for our first morning. The cabin was nice, clean, and well stocked! I would definitely stay again!
Our third visit to this property and we have enjoyed each visit. We use the fireplace more for ombiaunce than for heat. The kitchen is suppled with everything that we have needed for cooking. There are fresh eggs, cereal, fruit, milk and juice to get your visit started which is over an above other places we have stayed. Great place to go and relax.
This is a lovely cabin in a beautiful location. The cleanliness was impeccable. Our host was even kind enough to come over and share some of his time with my hubby. Spent some much needed time enjoying the rocking chairs on the front porch, listening to the birds and went for a great walk on the property. Even saw a few deer, squirrels and a groundhog. Amish country was just a 12 minute ride away, which let us take in several antique places and some good food. Thanks for the memories.
If you value quiet and peace, and outstanding care from the host, and if you enjoy excellent Amish cooked food and shopping at a variety of cool places, this location is for you!
Cabin was cozy and very clean, we especially injoyed fireplace during the cool evening days had a fire every evening. The location was amazing enjoyed watching the large buck deer roaming the property. Loved the surrounding hills and foliage. Great location to stay and roam the Amish countryside.
The property was AMAZING! The hosts were very thoughtful and accommodating. They seemed to try very hard to anticipate your every need and they called the first evening to make sure we didn't have any questions or issues. The property was absolutely beautiful with plenty of deer to watch from the front porch. We enjoyed the solitude and being able to look at the stars at night without light pollution. Cell signal is iffy...but a land line is provided if you need to make a call. Food for a basic breakfast was provided for the first day and fresh fruit and chips were also available for snacking. I honestly can't even make a suggestion to the hosts on how to improve because it was practically perfect already! Thanks Doug and Jen for sharing your beautiful cabin with us!!
Very NICE. The the location of the cabin was just gorgeous all up in the woods, long driveway up on a hillCabin was very clean. Planning on going back next year maybe in the fall.
Honestly this place is stunning. Why get a hotel?! This place of pure beauty has 3 big bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, large living room, dining room , kitchen has everything and a little nook that is just amazing behind a beautiful stone wall perfect for reading and watching wildlife. I truly can't think of anything negative for this stunner. Log cabin of movie star quality. 9 minutes from sugar creek. Plenty of room for families . Game room in basement . Extra cots for kids and teenagers. Totally secluded . Fire pit. All bedrooms are upstairs but the steps are perfect to ascend and descend for my 85 year old dad. Solid steps. This jewel has two porches. The lakes are nice as we did go fishing however too hot nothing caught. We did use the paddle boat , fun . We didnt go swimming this time. Plan to return soon. This is a 5star plus place to stay. Owners are very respectful of your privacy. We stayed at the farm house last year but this place is our fav . Book it and make great memories . Make sure you have 4wheel drive in winter as it is a big uphill driveway. shampoo conditioner toiletries dish soap towels bed linen and more all included in stay.
The cabin was very nice and very clean and bedding very comfortable. Breakfast items left were wonderful!!! Cabin had everything needed. Had a little issue that the host helped right away with and might leave a note in the lighter box for some people unfamiliar with wood fireplaces. Also some very loud noises that were alarming in the night but believed to be ice/snow falling from the tin roofs onto other tin roofs. Overall beautiful cabin secluded but close to amish.

About the host
Hosted by Doug McGlumphy and Jennifer Greer
Doug McGlumphy and Jennifer Greer have been married for 30 years and enjoy working and developing our family farm. Doug works as an artist and educator while Jennifer works as an academic advisor. Both enjoy raising their two sons and passing on the property's history to the next generation.
Why they chose this property
Our cabin is located on 300 acres of rolling farmland in the Stucky Valley, of Tuscarawas County, Ohio. Originally settled in the 1830's by the Moomaw family, the farm was purchased in 1903 by Doug's great-grandparents, German farmers, Jacob and Emma Hisrich. It has remained in our family for over 110 years.
The farm subsequently passed down to Doug's grandparents, Laura and Vernon Hisrich who lived, raised a family and farmed the property for many decades. After their deaths the main house, outbuildings and land remained underutilized for many years and fell into decline until we purchased them, along with Doug's parents, Ed and Pat (Hisrich) McGlumphy in 1997.
In addition to the built environment, the farm consists of approximately 50% tillable land and 50% woods. In an effort to preserve the property as farmland, a local farmer uses the fields to plant crops for his dairy farm. The remainder acts as a bird sanctuary, as well as habitat for local wildlife.
We enjoy our farm and its family history and invite you to come and enjoy its peacefulness and tranquility with us. It is a labor of love and continues to be an ever-evolving endeavor. There is always something new to look at with each subsequent visit as we always have a new project in the works.
What makes this property unique
The property also includes an 1870s farmhouse (VRBO 2131667) and a 1825 historic log house (VRBO 489786) available for rental through VRBO. If rented together all houses offer a great opportunity for extended family or friends to vacation with each other while maintaining social distancing but enjoying the great outdoors.
The cabin and rural setting offers a truly unique experience for couples, families or friends to get away and relax. We even have a baseball field, hiking trails and an art gallery nearby. Come and enjoy!
