Luxury tri-level cabin on over 2 acres it is the perfect getaway in summer or winter. Island Park is actually the world's largest crater, 23 miles in diameter, created from a volcano which collapsed in prehistoric times.

Now covered in a dense forest of pine and wildflowers, it is a mecca for hiking & fishing in summer and cross-country skiing & snowmobiling in winter.

Only 35 - 40 minutes from Yellowstone National Park and minutes from some of the best fishing/fly fishing on Blue Ribbon trout streams in the Country.

There is so much to do and see in and around Island Park. There are great trails for hiking, mountain biking or riding 4 wheelers.

If you are interested in Horseback riding there are several options nearby with rides in the Centennial Mountains or ride over the Continental Divide, the scenery is breathtaking.

During winter the snowmobiling is unsurpassed with over 500 miles of trails, you can ride from the cabin right into West Yellowstone.

From the incredible scenery of Mesa Falls and Big Springs to the abundant wildlife and Yellowstone you will always have something to do.

Or if you prefer, simply chill out and enjoy the hot tub and the cabin, sitting on over 2 acres and with no close neighbors you will have a private and relaxing stay.

There are many great day trips including one of our favorites through Yellowstone down past Yellowstone Lake and down into Grand Teton National Park

passing the unbelievably beautiful Jackson Lake with the Tetons towering over it and on to Jackson Hole for some great sightseeing, shopping and food.

Return via Victor and Driggs Idaho home of Grand Targhee ski resort and the entire drive is worth a postcard.

Lost River Retreat

What a beautiful 'cabin', more like mansion! Stayed here a week during July. Weather was warm. We rafted Henry's fork of the Snake River. It was so fun! The beauty of nature surrounding this cabin is fantastic! We saw moose, osprey, and hawks. We hiked all over the area near the cabin, down to the river, and lake. We took a short drive to see incredible waterfalls and another day, took the short 30 minute drive into Yellowstone National Park. Everything we could imagine and possibly need was provided in the cabin, except for food of course. One of the weekends there was a craft fair of local artists. Great nature paintings and crafts of many kinds, prices were very reasonable. You should stay here and visit, you won't be disappointed. Thanks for letting us stay and use your beautiful home!

Such a great experience

  • 5 of 5

My first time to Island Park/Yellowstone and staying at the Lost River Retreat was a perfect fit. This was a trip/family reunion, 8 adults and 7 children. Never did we feel like there wasn’t plenty of room. Kitchen space is great, beds are really nice and comfortable, common spaces are really big, the wrap around porch/grandchildren race track is large and has a great view from any point, bathrooms are large. The whole cabin is well equipped from kitchen needs, extra bedding, very nice towel’s, washer and dryer, hair dryer, TV’s , DVD/VHS & cable, foosball & hockey games, & outdoor grill. Garage is spacious and has two picnic tables for deck dinning. There is a fire pit and hot tub but we just didn’t get time to use them .. but I will say the hot tub looked well maintained and very nice. Our family loved the time we spent here .. the view of the stars is amazing. Would recommend this property to anyone planning to stay in the area. Management and owners are great to work with … this was an overall really nice experience. Having to take your garbage to the dump each day was no big deal, easy, and the staff there even were pleasant. The only thing I would have liked to see/have had was dressers in each room. But not having them, living out of suitcases was not terrible, closets are huge.

I can say without hesitation the thing I disliked most is that we couldn’t stay longer!

We stayed in Aug 2010. It is absolutely wonderful. We saw moose and deer on the property. What a wonderful way to start the day. Lots of room to park a trailer for your toys. We rode into Yellowstone on ouor motorcycles both days. The cabin is beautiful and the beds are of high qualilty. The owner was excellent to work with. Very helpful and willing to answer all of our questions. Would re commend this to anyone heading over to the area.
