We would love to have your family come back and stay with us anytime!
This was a great home for a vacation for our extended family. The description said that the kitchen was well stocked. That is an understatement. Pretty much everything you need with condiments and utensils. There were plenty of toys, recreational items and beach stuff. We would definitely rent again.
Great long weekend in Belmar! House was just as described and plenty of room for 9 adults and 2 kids! The beach badges, chairs and bikes came in very handy. Beach and boardwalk were just a short distance away. As was the park w basketball and tennis courts…kids loved it! House had everything we needed. Patio out front was great and grill was handy too. Bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean and AC was great too. House is very close to the train but with the AC you don’t really hear it. Host Nicole was incredibly helpful and responsive! Great weekend!
5 stars – Perfect getaway for families and dog lovers!
We had a wonderful stay at this Lake Como home and will definitely be back again. The house was clean, spacious, and thoughtfully stocked with everything a family might need—including for those with young kids. What really made it special for us was the huge front yard. It was the perfect space for our dogs to run and play, which can be hard to find near the beach! There’s also a beautiful path around the lake just a block away, where we took the dogs for daily walks—it was peaceful and scenic, a real highlight of the trip. We also made great use of the bicycles at the house, riding into town to grab ice cream or explore the area. The beach was just a short, easy walk away—great for morning strolls or quick trips with kids in tow. The neighborhood felt safe and quiet, and the home had a cozy, welcoming feel from the moment we arrived. We’ve stayed in a number of rentals over the years, but this one really stood out. Highly recommend!
It was great for our dog to have a nice fenced yard. It was clean however, the living room couches probably need to be replaced , they were hard between the cushions in multiple locations. And the description of it being 5 bedrooms was not accurate - there is a pullout sofa bed in a room to access the only bathroom downstairs. No adult can comfortably sleep on this bed. Also there were only 5 beach badges included. The house can sleep more than 5 , it was not expected that we had to pay for a daily badge given the cost of this rental. Lastly, the bathroom shower has no grab bar and has a taller than typical tub wall making it difficult to step over when entering the tub.
It was extremely easy; the owner contacted me throughout the whole process. The rental was left immaculate for me and my family. It was stocked with many convenient items. The location was walking distance to the beach. Bikes were provided so we were able to ride to many scenic locations. My sons loved the grill. At night we were able to watch movies in the spacious family room together. We had a wonderful time and would definitely stay again.
Our family of 6 adults and our two year old granddaughter had an AMAZING two weeks in this gorgeous house. Nicole could not have been nicer or more accommodating, answering all our questions, checking in on us and even leaving a gift basket of beach toys for our little one. The inside of the house has many places to spread out, or big enough to gather the whole group! The fenced-in large front yard with a lovely pergola was just what we needed for a drink at the end of the day while Sawyer ran around and played safely. There is a nearby train (that didn’t bother us), but if you are a light sleeper, bring a sound machine. All in all, a fantastic vacation!!!

Welcome to Captain Henry’s Coastal Retreat
Once home to retired sea captain George Henry, this lovingly cared-for property carries the spirit of New Jersey's maritime past. Captain Henry, a Merchant Captain who sailed the busy coastal trade routes of the early 1900s, chose this home for its ideal location...“close enough to the ocean to smell the salt air, but just far enough inland to sleep soundly through a storm.”
He often said his home had “good bones and a warm, welcoming feeling.” And that sense of comfort still endures today.
Whether you’re gathering with family, relaxing after a day by the shore or simply soaking in the coastal charm, this home offers the perfect blend of history, character and comfort. It’s truly a special place to unwind and make lasting memories.
Why they chose this property
🌊Belmar/ Spring Lake area is one of the most sought-after neighborhoods on the Jersey Shore. This house is within walking distance to everything! Beautiful spaces inside and out! Perfect vacation for the kids. Bring the little ones and we have babygates to keep them safe. Older kids can enjoy bike riding, playing basketball or visiting the park behind the house. Adult children will love how close they are to the famous pubs in town.
What makes this property unique
In 1940, this property became home to a retired Merchant Mariner, Captain George Henry, a well traveled man who chose Belmar because of its working-waterfront roots and steady sea winds. Henry was fascinated by the nearby wreck of the SS Malta, a real iron steamship that ran aground off Belmar in 1885, its remains still visible at low tide near what is now 8th Avenue. He believed the property had the perfect balance; close enough to the ocean to feel its pull, yet far enough inland to sleep soundly. Neighbors recalled him walking the streets at dusk, timing the tides by instinct, insisting Belmar had “the calm of a safe harbor.”
Legend says Henry chose this particular house because on foggy nights you could hear the distant surf and smell the salt air drifting up from the beach. A reminder of the Malta and Belmar’s maritime past. He claimed the home had “good bones,” solid enough to ride out coastal storms, and a warmth that made it easy to settle in after years at sea. Whether or not the captain truly kept watch over the wreck, the story adds to the magic: staying here feels like stepping into a place where shore history, quiet streets and ocean air meet. A home that invites you to slow down, listen to the waves and feel connected to something timeless just beyond the horizon.
