Lakefront Cottage - Best of Both

Welcome to "Best Of Both"! This homey get-away overlooks beautiful Lake Ontario for amazing sunset views! Our updated 100-year old charmer features a big yard in a quiet neighborhood setting but we're within easy walking distance to the public beach, playground and skate park, historic lighthouse, free summer concerts, and all the village restaurants and bars. Bring your camera- you'll find lots of stunning settings to serve as backdrops for a wonderful vacation!

The space
"Best of Both" has a large welcoming lakefront porch with plenty of room for grilling and chilling. Yard games for the kids and an easy trail to explore the rocks on the shore make this an inviting place for the whole family. Our home features 4 bedrooms and 2 sitting areas, as well as a washer and dryer and Wi-Fi. Need a first-floor bed near a bath? We've got you covered with a pull-out sofa bed on the main floor. Rainy day? We've stocked puzzles and board games for lots of family competitions. Kitchen amenities include plenty of dishes, pot and pans, and a dishwasher for your convenience. Our dining table features easy seating for 7 in addition to stool seating for 3 at the breakfast bar.

We are happy to provide pillows, bedding, bath towels, kitchen towels, and some cooking/cleaning products. We also provide toilet paper and paper towels, as well as some basic toiletries (bar soap, shampoo/conditioner, toothpaste, etc.) to get you started. Beach towels and any refills you may need during your stay are the responsibility of the guest.
Guest access
Guests have access to the entire property excluding the basement.

Charming with exceptional views!

The home is a real find, on a bluff overlooking Lake Ontario. Old cottage feel with modern amenities, including gas and wood exterior fire pits. Ten minute walk to a beautiful lakeside town with nice shops and restaurants. A local resident even gave us firewood from their home when the store was out. Definitely recommend Dan and Jeanine’s home for a fantastic vacation.

Slow and relaxing getaway

We had a wonderful time at the lake house. The view was beautiful, perfect for sitting outside in the morning and evening to enjoy the sounds of the waves and the sunset. It is far enough away from the town area to feel more secluded, yet close enough for walks to restaurants, play grounds and ice cream. It was more than enough room for our large family. My only side note would be that if you are traveling with small children, there is a rather steep drop off at the edge of the property by the lake. Our time there was all we hoped for and we will hopefully be able to return in the future.

Best place to stay at the Point!

We had 10 family members staying for the 4th of July weekend. This house was just perfect for us! The house was clean, has charm and is well appointed. The yard was perfect for the kids and for family to play. The house is located in walking distance to town but offers privacy. We loved walking down to swim in the lake. Owners were very understanding and helpful.

New Years Getaway

Best of Both was a cozy cottage with phenomenal views! The place was clean and pleasureful; stocked with conveniences, games, kitchenware, and bedding to provide for a great stay. The cottage isn’t large, but with 10 people, everyone was comfortable and happy. We prepared all of our meals in the kitchen with ease, the only preferred improvement would be dinnerware and silverware sets adequate for bigger groups. The hosts provided a seamless process for booking and information, and always responded within an hour. All the great reviews confirm that you can’t go wrong with this great place!

Hometown Vacation

My sister and I are from the area but had not visited in many years. We stayed five nights with our husbands and three children 2-5 years old. The house was more spacious than we expected. Two rooms each had a queen bed and two rooms each had two twin beds. The bedrooms are upstairs and there is also a main-level extra living area with pullout sofa if needed. The house is quaint, comfortable and nicely decorated. The view of the lake is spectacular and the deck has several chairs to relax and enjoy the view while the kids play in the yard. The mosquitoes and gnats were pretty bad during this time of year so we couldn’t be outside after dark without suffering bites. Despite that minor issue, we had a wonderful time and plan to book again in the future.

Good for family

The house was very good for us. It had almost everything we needed to stay comfortable. The view of the lake from inside and outside both were great. Access to the lake shore was an added benefit. There was ample grass covered ground and it was good for children to run around. We enjoyed our stay.

Perfect place to relax

This place absolutely lived up to its billing as an excellent vacation venue. When we pulled up in our car and saw the view from the porch of Lake Ontario we knew right then and there we chose the best accommodation for a vacation for my wife and I and my family whom I brought with us from Florida. It was just so beautiful to just sit there on the porch and gaze out at the lake. It suddenly occurred to us that we hadn't even gone inside yet to check the place out and we knew that it was going to be as fantastic inside as it was outside. From the minute we opened the front door and stepped inside we knew we were about to embark on a fantastic family vacation. The place was spotless and each of us had our own room. We slept with the windows wide open as the breeze came in off the lake and we all slept fantastic. We had so many plans of places to visit, but we loved the cottage so much that we just stayed around the cottage and enjoyed the fire pit at night. There were six of us and there was more than enough room. I would highly recommend this property, whether it is for just two people or a huge family, you won't go wrong staying at the Best of Both.

Amazing stay!

We had an amazing stay in Sodus Point. The views and house were even better than the pictures and hosts were some of the best I’ve ever had. They were extremely responsive and even left some personal touches for us. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.

Private and Accommodating

We enjoyed the porch and the beautiful view. Dan and Jeanine were very responsive and accommodating. We had an enjoyable time spent with family. We loved how cozy and quaint the house was on the inside. There we're great entertainment options for kids. We enjoyed the cookware and other amenities in the kitchen.

Lovely location and downstairs. Convenient to sights and eats. Little treasures in house left by owners. Great view of the lake and the critters. Clover, the groundhog was there every day to eat and stare at us.

Father’s Day family gathering

We were already in love with the Sodus Bay Area before we arrived and the moment we walked through the door of our vacation home and saw our personal welcome sign to greet us made us feel right at home!
