Streamside Log Cabin Cherry Springs Stargazing
Escape to A Cabin by the Stream – Your Nature Retreat Awaits!
Picture yourself in the heart of the Cherry Springs area, where the air is crisp, the pace of life slows, and the beauty of nature envelops you in a warm embrace. Welcome to A Cabin by the Stream, a lovingly restored vintage log cabin from the 1930s, where tranquility reigns and breathtaking scenery invites you to pause, breathe, and reconnect.
As you arrive, the cabin’s rustic charm greets you, a masterpiece crafted from the rich cherry trees that dot the nearby hills. Step inside, and you’ll feel that you’ve entered a world apart—the gentle hum of the babbling stream outside your window instantly works its magic, washing away the stress of everyday life. The intimate warmth of the cabin envelopes you, with a cozy bunk room beckoning tired souls and a fully equipped kitchen promising the joy of shared meals and sweet treats.
Imagine gathering around the kitchen table, laughter mingling with the aroma of your cooking, as family and friends share stories of their day. With space for up to six guests, every moment spent here is an opportunity to reconnect, whether it's playing games by the glow of the fireplace or embarking on outdoor adventures just steps from your door.
As dusk falls, head outside to the fire kettle by the stream, where stories come alive in the flickering glow of flames. The crackle of the fire complements the soft serenade of nature surrounding you, as the stars begin to twinkle overhead. Here, stories of the day fade into shared memories, laughter mingling with the sounds of the night, creating a symphony that lingers long after the fire has died down.
When the sun sinks below the horizon, prepare for an unforgettable spectacle. Nestled near Cherry Springs State Park—the premier stargazing locale in the U.S.—A Cabin by the Stream offers unparalleled views of the night sky, unblemished by city lights. Experience the Milky Way just as your grandparents did, and gaze in wonder at meteor showers that paint the sky with trailing brilliance. If fortune smiles upon you, you might catch a glimpse of the ethereal Aurora Borealis, as the constellations above whisper stories of old.
Your furry friends are welcome here too; for a small pet fee, your loyal companions can romp through the expansive grounds, joining you in the joys of nature and making memories that last a lifetime.
Unplug and immerse yourself in the serene beauty that surrounds you. Hike scenic trails lined with whispering pines, or take a short trip into charming Coudersport, where small-town America captivates with its quaint shops and welcoming spirit. Adventure seekers can find delight in the majestic Pennsylvania Grand Canyon, where elk roam freely, and bald eagles soar overhead, reminding you of the wild wonders waiting to be discovered.
While this tranquil haven feels remote, an adventurous spirit and your car will guide you here, as public transportation is a distant memory in this serene escape.
Seize this chance to restore your soul at A Cabin by the Stream. Book your stay today and let the harmony of nature embrace you. Every moment spent here, under a canopy of stars, is an invitation to rejuvenation, peace, and cherished memories. Your adventure into dark, star-studded skies begins now!

About the host
Hosted by Chris
Hi, I’m Chris, and I feel so lucky to share one of nature’s most magical experiences: the night sky. I love guiding guests from cities and light-polluted areas to the PA Wilds, where the stars sparkle like nowhere else, meteor showers dazzle, and the Milky Way stretches overhead. Watching people’s faces light up with awe is why I do this. I can’t wait to help you relax, explore, and fall in love with the dark skies of Cherry Springs State Park.
Why they chose this property
I didn’t buy this cabin because it made sense on a spreadsheet.
I bought it because the first time I stood beside the stream, I didn’t want to leave.
The water was moving gently over the rocks, the trees were leaning in like they’d been guarding the place for a hundred years, and there was this deep, steady quiet that you just don’t find anymore. Not silence — but natural quiet. The kind that settles your shoulders without you even realizing they were tight.
I remember thinking, people need this.
Not just a place to sleep. Not just another rental. A place where families could sit around a fire and actually talk. Where couples could look up at the sky and remember why they fell in love. Where kids could get muddy and tired and fall asleep to a real stream instead of a sound machine.
Then that first night came.
When the sky turned dark — truly dark — and the stars came out over Cherry Springs, it felt like stepping back in time. The Milky Way wasn’t faint. It was bold. Alive. I thought about how rare that has become… how most people will never see the sky the way their grandparents did.
That’s when I knew this place wasn’t just property.
It was an experience.
The cabin itself spoke to me too. Hand-built logs. Honest craftsmanship. Not perfect — but authentic. It felt like something meant to be preserved, shared, respected. A place where you could unplug without feeling like you were giving something up.
I bought it because I believe in the PA Wilds. In Coudersport. In Cherry Springs. In small-town America and dark skies and trout streams and elk crossing the road at dusk. I believe there’s something deeply healing about stepping outside at night, looking up, and realizing how small you are — and how beautiful that is.
This cabin isn’t meant to impress you with luxury.
It’s meant to reconnect you with what matters.
The stream.
The fire.
The sky.
The people you brought with you.
That’s why I bought it.
And that’s why I share it.

What makes this property unique
What makes A Cabin by the Stream different isn’t just the location — it’s the feeling you get when you’re here.
First, the stream. This isn’t “near water” or “seasonal runoff.” A real mountain stream runs directly beside the cabin. You’ll hear it from the porch, from the fire pit, even with the windows open at night. It becomes the natural soundtrack to your stay. Guests tell me it’s the first thing they miss when they leave.
Second, true dark skies. We are genuinely close to Cherry Springs State Park — not “in the region,” not an hour away. Many listings use the name, but very few are actually in the dark sky zone. Here, you’re a short drive from one of the top stargazing locations in the country. On clear nights, the Milky Way is vivid. Meteor showers are unforgettable. You don’t have to squint to see the stars — they’re right there above you.
Third, When you book this cabin, the entire property is yours.
Fourth, authenticity. This is a hand-built log cabin with real character. It’s not a modern box trying to look rustic. The wood, the setting, the layout — it all feels like a classic Pennsylvania camp, but with the comfort of a fully equipped kitchen, reliable internet, quality bedding, and everything you need for a comfortable stay.
Fifth, year-round appeal. Summer brings cool evenings by the stream. Fall is pure magic with color reflecting off the water. Winter turns the cabin into a snow-globe escape. Spring brings rushing water and wildlife returning to the woods. Every season feels different — and special.
Sixth, location for exploration. From here you can: Stargaze at Cherry Springs, Visit the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon,
Walk the Kinzua Bridge Skywalk, See the Austin Dam, Fish, hike, or simply do nothing at all
And maybe the biggest benefit of all — this place slows you down.
It’s not just a cabin.
It’s a reset button beside a stream under one of the darkest skies in America.
