About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

This 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bathroom modern house with open floor plan is perfect for family gatherings. Enjoy your cup of coffee on the expansive screened porch nestled in the trees, or prepare your fresh local seafood feast in the well equipped kitchen (herb garden in back yard).

If you know the Outer Banks, then you know that Ocracoke Island is the "Pearl" of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. This house is centrally located on a dead end street within walking/biking distance to everything in the village. Only a short bike ride or drive, and you will find yourself on one of the most beautiful beaches in the country.

The master bedroom has a king and private bath. The second bedroom has a queen, twin trundle bed, and a twin mattress in loft. The third bedroom has a full bed. Linens are not provided but are available on the island for rental.

Gulf stream fishing is one of the more exciting activities you can experience on your Ocracoke vacation. If you plan to bring along your own boat, we can help coordinate deep water dockage in Silver Lake Harbor for an additional fee.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you so much for the use of your lovely home! We had such a great time on Ocracoke, despite the rain, mostly due to the fact we had such a nice retreat. My husband really appreciated all the construction details and in fact said it made him jealous!

We really loved the house and the yard and the great care you have taken and shared with us. My favorite feature is the fig tree out back and it provided a tasty snack I indulged in each day---Paradise!

Thanks so much

Lovely home with a fabulous porch!

  • 5 of 5

This house is close to groceries and an easy bike ride to the beach. The main room is spacious with plenty of room to share cooking and dining. Th porch space is especially pleasant because it is nestled in pines. The trees surrounding the house give the house a private feel. We ha a wonderful time!

Wonderful Modern Option on Ocracoke

  • 5 of 5

Having never rented from a VRBO owner before, I wasn't sure what to expect. I didn't know if, like many real estate sites, the photos exaggerate the good points and obscure the weaknesses. That certainly isn't true at this house.

As mentioned by others, the house has a large great room with a double height living area, all of which opens onto a screened porch that runs the entire depth of the house. The whole time we were there gentle breezes blew through the porch. There are also three ceiling fans in case the breeze abates.

While it isn't a brand new house, the owners clearly put a great deal of effort into maintaining it. We had one minor problem we discovered on the first day and the owner, a very friendly and accommodating general contractor, had the situation repaired within 24 hours. He also lent us some household items we had forgotten. He could not have been nicer or more helpful.

The main level is the second floor with all bedrooms on the third. My party consisted of two people in our 60s and a dog and no one had any problems with going up and down stairs.

The location is outstanding. We walked everywhere except to the distant beaches. Ocracoke Village is geographically very concise and flat so even the preponderance of golf carts and bikes seemed unnecessary to us. I think you could probably get to the most distant restaurant in Ocracoke Village in about 10 minutes on foot.

I can't imagine a more perfect place to stay for a week on Ocracoke and will definitely try to get it the next time I come.

Amazing Design

  • 5 of 5

Love, Love, Love this house. The open floor plan is amazing. My favorite feature is the huge screened in porch; it doubles the living area. The house has everything you need. The location is ideal, you can walk or bike to all the shops and restaurants. Plus it is dog friendly! We will be renting this house again.

We rented this cottage for a short visit during the offseason and absolutely LOVED IT!!! There were only two of us plus a Boykin Spaniel, so it was probably larger than what we needed but I was so thankful it was available. Very few restaurants are open during the offseason, but the kitchen in this rental is FANTASTIC. As someone else stated, it's much more well equipped than what you would expect for rental, and it's designed perfectly to entertain a large group. The screened porch was SO RELAXING. We had rain one day, but sitting on the porch, drinking wine and listening to the rain was blissful. For families and other larger parties, the cottage is well stocked with lots of fun board games to help entertain kids at night. We enjoyed playing Headbanz! :) The cottage is also centrally located so we could easily walk to Zillie's, the grocery store, Smacnally's, and other popular spots. Brian, the owner, is so easy to work with, and was easily reached via text or phone once we were there. This place is probably best suited for large families, or larger group outings during the regular season, but if you're considering visit the Island during the offseason (which I highly encourage!), you and your special loved one will thoroughly enjoy this place, and your small pet if they meet the guidelines.

Terrific Vacation House

  • 5 of 5

This is a clean, well equipped and thoughtfully designed house. We spent a very relaxing week with our three adult children and one guest. Cooking was easy in a kitchen equipped beyond the standard for a vacation rental. The great room is open and airy never feeling crowded. My favorite spot was on the screened porch where I could read quietly and catch a breeze. From a design standpoint, the house has a level of simplicity and refinement we found quite delightful.

The Pony Island Inn is and easy walk for breakfast, and Howard's Pub is a short walk beyond. We rented linens and beach umbrellas from Ocracoke Island Realty which simplified our visit greatly. Brian, the owner, lives locally and is easy to reach. All in all, we had a very positive stay.

Spacious, comfortable, and beautiful vacation home

  • 5 of 5

This 3 bathroom, 3 bedroom home was perfect for our family of five adults. Everything was spotless and beautifully appointed. The large kitchen was well equipped for cooking, but we were also within walking distance of many wonderful dining options, including coffee shops, cafes, restaurants, and ice cream parlors. We spent our evenings playing board games at the large dining room table or watching movies in the living room area. With the large front porch, too, there was plenty of room to both spread out and come together as a family. Brian, our host and a year-round resident of Ocracoke, came over the first morning and provided us with maps and suggestions of things to do. The outdoor shower and footwash were perfect after a day at the beach so we could wash the sand off and not track it into the house. We did drive to the beach, since it would have been a bit far to walk and schlep everything. Highly recommended home for making wonderful island memories.
