Ocracoke Cottage Rental Photos and Description

House, 4 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6)

45 Mary Ann Drive:

At "Little House by the Ferry" you can relax in hammocks and hear the ferry boats tooting their horns coming and going out of the harbor. Located near Silver Lake Harbor where all the restaurants and shops are located, you will find it easy to stroll or bike from this convenient location.

This charming 4 Bedroom 1 Bath cottage has undergone a complete renovation and addition in the Spring of 2009. Everything is new! You will love the professionally decorated cottage decor. There are 2 hammocks for relaxing, a fenced-in dog yard, dishwasher and washer and dryer. While there is only one full bath, there is an exceptional outdoor shower with a star-filled sky above. You will never want to shower indoors again.

The large screened-in porch has vaulted ceilings and big views of open space which makes for a very private setting.

Most of Ocracoke Island is owned by the National Park Service and there are no cottages located at the beach front. Little House by the Ferry is located in the village about a mile and a half from the beach. If you have a four wheel drive you can drive out on the beach. You can also drive or ride bikes to the life guarded beach and walk over the dunes to the beach.

We just installed a water meter and now have city water. Great water pressure which makes the out shower absolute heaven!

Maximum of 6 people.

Maximum of 3 parking spaces.

Maximum of 1 pet with $100 Pet Fee. (well behaved please)

We rent Sunday to Sunday. Check-in time is 4:00PM and Check-out time is 10:00AM.

We hope you love "Little House by the Ferry" as much as we do.

Adorable Gem in Ocracoke!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, our Chocolate Lab named Drew and I had a wonderful stay at this adorable cottage on Ocracoke Island. The layout of the cottage is just ideal and we loved the large screened-in porch. Having the fenced in yard was great too. The location is just perfect. Tucked back in with just a few other houses but within walking distance to many of the quaint shops and restaurants. We even walked to the lighthouse and enjoyed checking out all the other charming houses along the way. The cottage was clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. We hope to be back to Ocracoke and will definitely want to stay at this adorable cottage when we return!

Beautiful escape

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a wonderful and relaxing time in this beautiful cottage. One can see this home is cared for with careful intention; the small touches do not go unnoticed. We were thankful the owners allow this home to be pet-friendly; our yellow lab enjoyed spending time on the beach and the fenced in back yard is perfect! The weather even allowed us to bike into town and enjoy an afternoon enjoying the beauty of Ocracoke. The only challenge we faced- is trying to find the property at night. We have stayed in many of the inns in Ocracoke-this is now our new favorite & only place we will stay!

We booked this property to escape and reconnect after a sudden death in the family. This time away restored our faith and healed our broken hearts. I cannot thank you enough!

Couldn't have had a better week!

  • 5 of 5

We are an older couple and Little House was just pefect for us. Still lots to do in early Dec on Ocracoke. Little House was cozy and very comfortable during the cool evenings and the screened in porch enjoyable during the day. Nearby boat ramp made launching our kayak easy with beautiful and interesting paddling just around the corner. Rode our bikes for miles on the beach. You will feel right at home.

Everything about it is perfect.

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at Little House two years now. It is the perfect place. The house is warm, inviting and comfortable. The open floor plan is perfect for 6 people; the outdoor shower is heavenly; the side porch, which is screened in, is bug free and next to a vacant lot, so it is very relaxing. The bikes make for lots of fun. The location is close to the village, which is perfect for daytime and evening fun. The owners are alway very responsive to any questions whatsoever. I highly recommend it--just don't rent it the week I want it!

Relaxing Visit!

  • 4 of 5

The home was just as it was presented - the owners were responsive from the very first email as well. Access to the bikes that were all ready to ride was a big plus, 2 hammocks for reading very relaxing, screened porch with radio to play games, comfortable bed rooms. Home was clean and well maintained. Rode bikes to beach in the morning, out to shops. Ate at Dajio, Ocracoke Coffee, Howards Pub and had take out from the Thai place - all recommended by the owners and all enjoyable. Nice atmosphere at Dajio on the patio. Thank you for a wonderful week!

Perfect Week

  • 5 of 5

The Little House by the Ferry made for a great week on Ocracoke. The cottage is perfect. Four bedrooms, a den-kitchen combo, a great screened porch, and an outside shower (probably the best feature!) The cottage is only a few hundred yards from the start of the town. We rode bikes (provided) everywhere and explored the island from top to bottom. The owner's stopped by on our arrival day and could not have been nicer, or more thorough in following up to make sure everything was going well and providing great local knowledge and restaurant suggestions!

Coming from central North Carolina (Winston Salem) we drove to Hatteras and took the Hatteras Ferry to Ocracoke. This made for a long, but beautiful drive (8 hrs). The ferry to Ocracoke from Hatteras is one hour and the drive to The Little House by the Ferry from the Hatteras Ferry is about 13 miles. Leaving, we took the Cedar Island Ferry which is 2.5 hours and leaves right behind the cottage (1 minute car ride) to drop one of our children at camp. It takes a while to get to Ocracoke, but is well worth the trip whichever way you decide to travel!

We ate and drank at Dajio, Smacnally's, Flying Melon, Jolly Roger and Howard's Pub and would recommend them all in this order. We had a great breakfast at the Pony Island Motel and picked up coffee and bagels each morning on our bikes at Ocracoke Coffee on Back Road. The kid's ate ice cream everywhere. The food was reasonably priced and always fresh everywhere we went on the island. There are too many great arts and crafts stores to name, but we wandered in a few great one's on British Cemetery Road.

We rented surf boards and SUP boards at Ride the Wind. Explored the sound at Springer's Point (highly recommended for a break from the beach). The beach access at the Life Guard beach is approximately 1.5 miles from the cottage, down past Howards and right after the airport. This is the only time we drove our car (and only to transport all our gear). We also rode to the lighthouse several times.

This was one of the best vacation weeks we've ever taken. Our family has fallen hard for Ocracoke. We will definitely return to the island and to the Little House by the Ferry!
