I fell in love with Cape May while in college and it's been home ever since. I live here year round with my family. We feel lucky to live in such a beautiful area. We love to travel to other places, but are always happy to return to our Cape Island! When our long time year round tenant moved cross country to be closer to family, we thought it was the perfect opportunity to share our little bit of paradise with others!
Chris Isenhart purchased this apartment in 2002
During college I came to Cape May to work for the summer. I got the sand between my toes and in my heart! Aside from returning to campus to finish up classes, I've NEVER left!!! That was more than 25 years ago...I can't imagine being away from the ocean. We bought this house 7 years ago because of the location. It's a quiet rural neighborhood, yet a 5 minute bike ride to anywhere in town. We have the best of both worlds!
Our goal is to make your visit effortless! Just throw some clothes in a bag and come! We provide linens, bikes, beach tags, beach chairs, beach towels, even a cooler to take to the beach if you like! We have all the latest brochures and information about the goings on around town. We'll even help set up babysitting if needed. You are welcome to share the bounty our seasonal vegetable garden. Come out and pick ripe Jersey tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and more! You've got a sunny deck just outside your door and are welcome to share our shady front porch with rockers and hanging baskets! Our location has it all from beaches to birding and hiking to fine dining and antiquing. You may not want to go home!
We felt right at home here. The hosts were friendly, helpful and gracious. The apartment was comfortable, sunny and spacious. We enjoyed the bikes they provided, the fresh veggies from the garden and the resident chickens...as well as the refreshing pool. It was easily accessible to all the Cape May attractions. We recommend it highly
My boyfriend and I came here with our dog, pepper, to get away and have a relaxing time at the beach. We got so much more then that with the advice Chris gave us about places we can take our dog like restaurants, bars and some shops. It really made the whole trip so much more memorable. The apartment is pretty spacious for its size and has a kitchen with just about everything you need, no rusty pots. This is definitely a place we would love to come back to again!
My husband and I came down to Cape May for our first visit. We arrived at the Isenhart House on August 8th for a one week stay. Our host, Chris Isenhart, couldn't have been a nicer person. The apartment has a few drawbacks but overall it works well for 2 people. It would be a very crowded for 4 even if two of them were children. The biggest drawback is the kitchen. It is not fully equipped for cooking in and it is TINY; no counter space at all. If you like to cook in when you're on vacation, this is not the place for you. No toaster (description said toaster oven but I missed that nuance). No measuring cups or measuring spoons. Sauce pans only. The large pot that would normally be used for lobster or corn on the cob was all rusted out on the bottom and had no cover. No dishwasher and the kitchen had ants. On the plus side, Chris invites you to indulge yourself in her wonderful vegetable garden! The living room is comfortable and the bedroom is spacious. The mattress needs to be replaced as it is too soft and offers no support whatsoever. The bathroom is small but serviceable and the same can be said of the "deck" in the back. The deck could definitely benefit from a smaller table and chairs considering it's tiny size. The Isenhart's keep chickens and have a large dog. The location, in West Cape May, is very rural with some of the homes having roaming geese, chickens, dogs and BIG birds that I think were turkeys walking free. My husband and I like to exercise in the morning and having to go by these houses with the animals was a little disconcerting. Chris is the reason we would go back. She couldn't BE more accommodating. My husband suffered an unfortunately running accident while we were here and Chris, with her nursing background, could not have been more solicitous and helpful. All in all...we would go back but I made a list of things to bring with me to make the kitchen more useable.
We had such a wonderful vacation at the Isenhart apartment. The rental was incredibly spacious and very comfortable. Chris was a fantastic host and was extremely helpful in giving suggestions and offering the various delights her house has to offer! We took full advantage of the pool and our 2 year old LOVED the giant trampoline in the backyard (which was a nice and surprising bonus). I highly recommend this rental for anyone looking for a fun-filled, relaxing getaway to Cape May. We are definitely planning on visiting again!
The Isenhart House was a perfect, relaxing introduction to VRBO and to Cape May for my partner and I. It is a bright, cheery 1BR apartment attached to the Isenhart family home (similar to an attached mother-in-law style apartment). It has its own porch and separate entrance but shares the front/back yards w/ the house/Isenhart family. Chris was very warm, friendly and welcoming. She provided us with ample maps, brochures and restaurant suggestions- and a great insider's perspective of Cape May. She thoughtfully provided just about all the amenities one needs (bring your own toiletries), including: beach towels, chairs, beach tags, wi-fi, hair dryer, curling iron, bikes with baskets/locks, and a kitchen w/ all the necessary cooking utensils. The bedding and the couch were very comfortable, and the apartment is quite spacious w/ a full living room for lounging. We truly enjoyed meeting her and her family-including the backyard chickens! ;) The location is within 10-30 min biking distance to just about anywhere you would want to go in Cape May and is in a nice, quiet neighborhood with lots of greenery and lovely gardens. We didn't get to use the front porch or shared backyard/pool/BBQ spaces (it was a bit too chilly); but, we especially enjoyed biking around the neighborhood and to both downtown and Cape May Point. The best part about the Isenhart House was Chris herself; it's invaluable to meet such a down-to-earth, kind local resident when you are checking out a new vacation destination. We absolutely would consider returning anytime.
My husband and I were visiting the area for me to attend a 45th HS reunion and to visit some friends who came down. This accommodation was spacious and very well located. We brought bikes and were happy to have a garage for storage. We didn't use the pool(not pool weather) or the deck(too busy) but the property was nice and quiet. The bed was comfortable and there were plenty of towels and though we only made coffee and toast in the am the kitchen seemed adequately supplied. It was also a bright place with lovely air flow. After staying in many hotels with noisy AC, road noise and tight quarters, this was a nice change. We were 11/2 miles from the downtown area and there were two nice places for breakfast and dinner just around the corner. We love Cape May so except to return again. Glad we stayed here.
