This place is a gem! The property is absolutely gorgeous, on a bluff overlooking the ocean and out to the mountains on the other side of the beautiful bay. I could stare at that view all day. Very private with just the sound of the ocean and the macaws. The house is simple, comfortable and has everything you need. We spent lots of time on the deck overlooking the ocean. Great value for the area. You will love this place!!!
Beautiful home and location, will remember this place forever....
Fabulous place and people!
This property was just as advertised. We had monkeys, macaws, and other critters on the property. The property and house were beautiful, well maintained, and felt private. Chris, Jose, and Carla were all responsive and helpful. The location is great for guests looking for seclusion and relaxation. Carla is the best cook ever! The dinners she prepared for us were the best meals we had during our stay.
Wonderful unique rental
Unbelievably beautiful one of a kind spot. Right on the coast pictures and good reviews are all spot on. Can't say enough good things about our experience . My whole family loved our stay. The owner and care takers were wonderful. Could not be in a better location for nature lovers, surfers or fishermen we really felt at home and were very comfortable hated to leave but would definitely go back again if possible in future.
Heaven in Paradise
The property was beautiful and as pictured. The property was very clean and was supplied with everything we needed. No need to worry about a lot of bugs...at least during the week we were there. No mosquitoes! We did see knat-like bugs, beetles and ants. In the mornings we were serenaded awake by the Macaws and an occasionally passing monkey or two. I spent hours in the morning just watching and documenting the different birds that landed just outside the house. The property is truly amazing and you could spend your entire time at the house and still see birds, monkeys, lizards and even an Coati! The property is located about 8 km from Puerto Jimenez. I would recommend a 4x4 but it is not needed between town and the house. If you want to explore up the Peninsula further, and I highly recommend that you do, get the 4x4.
Tours to surrounding areas,'Perfect accommodations provide enough amenities while still feeling like we were living with the birds, the butterflies and the monkeys, Elieth's food was perfect, the view from the shower makes you want to linger', ...John and Sarah Robertson, New Jersey, 'Wow what a spot! We had a fantastic week staying at Quinta Sonada, this is the kind of place you hate to leave, I appreciate the effort you have put into your home, everything is just right from the house to the garden', Todd Riddick, Santa Cruz
About Chris Whitby
A long search through Latin America starting in southern Mexico locales such as San Blas and Petalco in '73 and further on to Guatemala led to years of annual pilgrimages to Bali-Baja. In the late '80's I started traveling to Costa Rica and did not find my way down to the Osa until around 1990. This parcel I purchased around 1993- The greatest thing about buying this property has been getting to know local Costa Rican ways, & your hosts: the family of Jose Ramirez Cruz, Elieth Daughter Lilli and Son Joselito. Long May You Run......
Chris Whitby purchased this House in 1988
Why Chris Whitby chose Puerto Jiménez
This is the most beautiful part of Costa Rica. Perfect spot for family retreat, we have had 5 Honey Moons, couples & family retreats up to 10 persons- This was originally part of a larger farm Ojo Del Agua At this point the farming operation had gone rather fallow. 1st lumber was harvested before there was a road into these parts Then at one point many trees on the coastal bluff were felled to provide a good terrain for dryland rice farming which still is practiced on the way out to Carate today. Thankfully much land is now in a variety of preserves and in the process of reforestation.
