Had a great time. The cabin is beautiful and clean. It was a great location. We will definately be back again soon.
We had an excellent time at Riverwalk Cabin! It has immediate access to the Creeper Trail without getting into your car. Within a very short walk there is a café located on the Creeper Trail at the Alvarado Station. A nice park on the Holston River is across the street from the Alvarado Station. We ate breakfast at the café. It was healthy delicious food with excellent down home service. We did take the bike shuttle to Whitetop and rode from Whitetop down to Damascus. Had an excellent ride! The weather was just perfect. On another day we rode right from the cabin towards Abingdon a few miles. There is an awesome trestle on this route! We want to return and ride all the way to Abingdon. Had great BBQ in Abingdon! We all had a really great time! Thanks for allowing us to rent your cabin!
This immaculate, beautifully built cabin along the VA Creeper Trail was a perfect mountain vacation spot for our family of 4. Close to Damascus and Abingdon with Alvarado station right next door. So quiet and peaceful with sounds of the Holston River from the front porch. We really enjoyed our time there! Be aware there is little to no cell service (which was not a bad thing) but with no phone in the cabin there is no way to call out in the event of an emergency. A+ to the owners! Well done, and thanks for sharing!!!
We just returned from a 3 day stay at Riverwalk Cabin. This place is beautiful and the location is perfect. We were there to bike the Virginia Creeper. Quite a bonus to visit Abingdon's quaint and historic town and great restaurants.
What a wonderful place to relax, sip coffee on the porch, sleep to the sound of rushing water from the bordering river, and breathe!
Just spent a fabulous week at the cabin. Couldn't ask for a more comfortable place to stay and would definitely stay again. The trail is beautiful for morning walks. We biked from Whitetop down to Demascus and the scenery was unbelievable.
My friends and I had the best time. We are coming back next year. The cabin is so nice! It has everything you could need for a great stay. And is close to a lot of different sites. The walk down The Creeper Trail very nice if you are one that likes to walk and look at the water and nature.
My husband and I spent a weekend at the cabin and had a fantastic time. The cabin itself is beautiful, CLEAN and comfortable. The kitchen was probably one of the best stocked kitchens I've seen in a rental (even better stocked than a cabin I stayed in meant for 20 guests). The sounds of the river are quite peaceful and the woody surroundings makes it feel very secluded and private.
The easy accessibility to the Virginia Creeper Trail was great. My husband and I rode our bikes from the cabin up to Damascus and into the "mountainous" part of the trail. This was our second time on the Trail and the "mountainous" half of the trail is our favorite. If this is the part of the Trail you are most interested in, I would suggest driving up to Damascus and parking at the public park (easy to spot - right next to the train cart). On the trail the cabin is about 5ish miles from Damascus, so if you aren't conditioned in your cycling, this can be a long ride to get to the "good parts".
The local fare is great as well! My husband and I ate at a few local places and they were all sooooo good! I'm all for bringing and prepping food, but I definitely recommend that any visitors get out and try some of the restaurants.
There were a couple of...I don't want to say negatives, but perhaps inconveniences. If you have AT&T, forget having any cell signal for a 5 mile radius (not the cabin or owners fault). No cell signal is OK, but there also isn't any WIFI in the cabin. Not that we were wanting to browse the internet, but it would have been useful for looking up places and how to get to them. We are so used to everywhere having WIFI that I didn't even bother to check if the cabin did before we went. So I would recommend looking places up BEFORE you go. There also isn't a ceiling fan in the master bedroom. This made it incredibly difficult for me to sleep. If you are like me and need moving air when you're sleeping, bring a personal fan!
Despite the minor inconveniences, the cabin is great and we would definitely stay again!
