Overview

About the property

Bungalow, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 1-2)

Just a stone's throw to the plaza, a licensed one-bedroom vacation rental suite is tucked behind one of Ashland's charming craftsman-style bungalows. Your private gated entrance, located behind the house, opens onto a peaceful garden and quaint patio - a wonderful place to enjoy morning coffee and the newspaper, or a glass of wine in the evening. In the summer and fall, help yourself to the ripe tomatoes, fresh herbs and fruit growing in the garden. The owner has lovingly created a sanctuary-like space within the town's premier historic district. Step back in time and enjoy a quiet retreat away from TVs and phones. (FREE, high-speed, reliable, password-protected Wifi is available for your laptop should you wish.)

Your separate, attached one-bedroom retreat awaits and features fine linens, a private bath and a fully-stocked kitchenette including organic tea, coffee, cream and sugar. Step inside: a cool, restful palette adorns a tastefully furnished room that includes period pieces such as an arts-and-crafts style armoire. You'll find a quiet, comfortable bedroom that overlooks an enchanted, fragrant flower garden. This inviting space features wood and tile floors, a ceiling fan, a silent A/C and heating unit, wall and space heaters, and plenty of windows so that you can take advantage of the abundant natural light and fresh mountain air. The bungalow is kept exceptionally clean using homemade, environmentally-friendly cleaners and a HEPA air purifier. Sorry, no smoking or pets.

The on-site owner has been a resident of Ashland for the past twenty years. Your privacy is my utmost priority. If desired, I would be happy to guide you nearby hiking and biking trails, farmer's markets, wineries, hot springs and locally-grown organic food. I am also happy to supply you with anything you need during your stay.

Ashland highlights such as the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Lithia Park, Cabaret Theater, downtown plaza, restaurants, shops, and movie theaters are all within a lovely 10 - 15 minute walk. You'll stroll through a level, shaded historic neighborhood and cross a bridge over the gentle waters of Ashland Creek on your way there!

To maximize your privacy, cleaning services are not included as part of your stay. Fresh linens will be provided to those guests staying one week or longer. The Stone's Throw Bungalow is an eco-friendly establishment. We encourage walking, biking, carpooling, bus riding, conservation, recycling and other practices that lessen your impact on the earth during your stay.

Lovely bungalow, close to downtown

  • 5 of 5

We love Ashland but wanted something beyond the impersonal hotel stay that we've experienced in the past. This lovely place fit the bill. Quiet, peaceful and a short walk from town. We plan to return!

A perfect place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

Stone's Throw has got to be the best place to stay in Ashland for one or two people. Comfortable, sparkling clean, charming, a luxurious treasure box. Every detail was attended to with understated elegance. The private garden was a relaxing oasis to enjoy the delicious bottle of wine provided by Karin, who was the most gracious hostess. The blankets, cushions and carrying bag were a welcome bonus to attend an outdoor play on a cool autumn evening. We couldn't think of a single thing missing from this wonderful suite. You'll be delighted by the surprise awaiting when you go to bed! Can't wait to stay here again.

Stone's Throw Bungalow

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at the Stone's Throw Bungalow. Karin was a very friendly and gracious host, and the bungalow was lovely and comfortable. It has a beautiful garden, and the bungalow is quite close to downtown Ashland. We would be very happy to stay there again on our next visit to Ashland.

Immaculate and private

  • 5 of 5

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this immaculate and tastefully decorated home away from home. The owner thought of everything conceivable to enhance our stay. The wine and fruit from the garden were much appreciated. The location is close to the town, but someone with mobility issues might find the walk a bit too much; however there is plenty of parking around the center. Hope to return in the future.

Perfect spot to relax and enjoy Ashland

  • 5 of 5

Quiet spot in a residential neighborhood a short walk from downtown Ashland restaurants and theaters. Immaculately clean and well organized attached cottage that opens into a fragrant private garden. Karin was very friendly and accommodating. We hope to return for another stay in the future.

Quiet and cozy studio with lovely outdoor space.

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed 4 nights in this studio apartment attached to the home of the owner. We were greeted by Karin, who gave us a quick tour of our lodgings. The kitchenette has everything you need to make a meal. Nice size bathroom with shower unit. The bedroom area has a queen bed and a small sitting area. All very nicely appointed. We enjoyed the shady outdoor area with comfortable seating. It's about a 15 minute stroll to downtown Ashland and the theaters. The host was wonderful. This is a great place for a couple to stay. We will be back.
