About the property

House, 6 Bedrooms, 2.5+ Baths, (Sleeps 12)

Cape May is one of only three cities in the USA in which the whole city is designated an Historic Landmark City. The historic district is composed of hundreds of beautifully painted and maintained Victorian homes. Decatur Street is the heart of this district and 132 Decatur is a classic example of 'Queen Anne' Victorian architecture. Trolley, horse-drawn carriage, and walking tours travel the streets with guides telling stories about the history of 'the United States first Seashore Resort', the five presidents that made this their summer white house, and the unique architecture like 132 Decatur's 'belly porch.' The porch is one of the areas that everyone loves. It is large and relaxing and an ideal place to people watch, have cocktails, watch the horse-drawn carriages, and dine.

132 Decatur Street has an ideal location. It is one block from a beautiful wide beach yet only one half block from the center of the pedestrian shopping mall. Everything is within an easy walk. Excellent restaurants, bars with live entertainment, interesting boutiques, two live theaters, miniature golf, and arcades for the kids are no more than four blocks away. Challenging golf courses and excellent deep sea fishing are close by.

The house is roomy and comfortable. The kitchen is newly renovated with granite counters and stainless steel appliances. It is fully equipped with all the utensils a gourmet cook might need. An HDTV is wall-mounted in the kitchen. It has counter space for seven diners as well as a separate bar and coffee bar area with beverage refrigerator, blenders and multiple coffee makers. A powder room and fully equipped laundry are adjacent to the kitchen. The house has a dining room that will accommodate twelve and two living rooms. Each living room has a flat screen HDTV and DVD. The living rooms are separated by pocket doors to allow for different tastes in TV or movie watching.

The second floor has four bedrooms and two full, modern bathrooms (beds are 3 Queens and 1 Twin). The third floor has two bedrooms (beds are 2 Full and 2 Twin) and a turret used as a reading area. The rear yard is fenced with a six foot fence for privacy and safety of young children. It has an outside shower / changing area and parking for two cars. Everyone that stays at 132 Decatur loves the house and its convenience.

Why The Owner chose Cape May

Cape May is a quaint and unique town unlike any of the other seashore towns in New Jersey. It is a real town with interesting year round residents. Unlike the other New Jersey seashore towns that pretty much close down after the summer season, Cape May has a vibrant life all year.

Everything You Could Want in a Place to Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This beautifully decorated Victorian home offers everything you could want in a place to getaway. It is spacious, clean, and comfortable. There is plenty of room for sleeping, eating/cooking, or just hanging out. The front porch is a fabulous place to relax and people-watch and the back of the home even offers parking. The best part of staying in this amazing home though is the location. You have the beach, shopping, clubs, restaurants and entertainment all within walking distance. What more could you ask for!!

Perfect Cape May week

  • 5 of 5

This house is perfect for a Cape May vacation. We had a family vacation here, 9 people and an additional 3 stayed with us several nights with more than enough room. There is enough space that everyone can have their own quiet time if needed.

We loved sitting on the front porch and watching people walk by, my kids especially loved watching the horses from the upstairs balcony. If we weren't lounging on the front porch, we were either shopping in town or at the beach, both a short walk and easy for the toddlers to manage.

The kitchen is perfect and well stocked, we enjoyed cooking a few dinners and grilling outside. The kitchen is great for entertaining as well as cooking.

The owner is extremely nice and responsive, he checked in a few days into our trip to make sure we were doing OK and had everything we needed. The house is clean and well maintained with lots of hidden gems it was fun to explore. It is a wonderful home and we hope to return again.

Luxury Shore Vacations Have Just Been Redefined!

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we stepped into this home, there was an immediate WOW! We were so impressed with this beautiful Victorian home. The front foyer was adorned with original cherry wood work, a grand staircase and a Victorian stained glass window. Then there was that gourmet kitchen we are still talking about-- complete with high end appliances, a wet bar (including a wine fridge!) and seating for 8 around the granite counter top. Truly there was no amenity left out, including a laundry room and powder room right off the kitchen. The formal dining room was large with seating for 12, and the first floor also boasted of two living room areas complete with flat screen televisions. The second floor had 3 ½ large tastefully decorated bedrooms, two modern baths, and a rear staircase that lead directly to the kitchen for those midnight snacks. The third floor also had two bedrooms and a sitting area in the turret where we could read and take in the town sights. All the rooms had air conditioners and ceiling fans for those hot summer days. Oh, did we mention the cozy front porch where we enjoyed afternoon cocktails while people-watching? But what would a summer vacation be without the beach, dining, shopping, nightlife, or a horse-drawn carriage ride around town?! This home couldn’t have been more perfect for all of the above. The location is right in the heart of Cape May. After spending a day at one of the most pristine beaches New Jersey has to offer (which is only a block away), we were literally steps away from the Washington Street Mall. With quaint shops and plenty of places to eat and relax – we did it all-- from hot dogs and ice cream to fine dining. One evening we decided to whip up a gourmet meal and entertain at home. Fortunately a grocery store was only a few blocks away. Although almost everything was within walking distance, we did venture out a few times in the car. With the 2 off-street parking spaces in the backyard, we never had to worry about parking. That was a big bonus! Nothing could have made our vacation experience at this home any better! We highly recommend this rental!

Wonderful Victorian Home

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 10 stayed 2 weeks in this great roomy Victorian Home. The location was wonderful for all(especially my 88 yr. old father-in-law) Walk to church, restaurants, shops and beach within minutes. Loved the hours we all spent on the porch people watching and enjoying the horse & carriages coming by throughout the day & night. So much fun. Kitchen was beautifully updated, 2 living rooms with flat-screened tvs was so great! Bedrooms were roomy, beds comfortable and bathrooms updated. We highly recommend this home and we look forward to renting again.
