About The Owner

After enjoying Smith Mountain Lake for the last 20 years, with friends and family, we finally decided to build the home that would create cherished memories for our family.

The Owner purchased this house in 2006

Why The Owner chose Smith Mountain Lake

In 2006 we began the task of finding a location where we could build not just a house at the lake, but a home where we could also build cherished family memories for our family, friends and other families like ours that may choose to rent our lake home. After many days of searching by boat, we felt we had found what was perfect for our family. Since the lot had such a gradual slope, our young children could easily toddle into the water or simply play sitting at the edge attended by a loving parent. The refreshing late afternoon breeze, gradually sloping lot, sandy beach, and quiet cozy swimming hole were just what we were looking for. The proximity to the Bedford County State Park, just 3 miles away was another big perk for our family. The State Park, has become a great place to explore nature with plentiful hiking & biking trails, and is also the the location of the SML Triathalon, Fall Festival and July 4th Fireworks launch. We also have enjoyed exploring the The SML Damn (check web for program times), The Lynchburg Children's Museum and the Pisgah National Forest. By water the house is located betweeen bouys R-11 and R-12 on the north side of the lake.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"Everyone and their families got togehter here for our 18-YEAR REUNION! We loved the house and the layout. The firepit was awesome! We had a Great time!"

This is a very nice home and very comfortable. I didn't give it 5 stars because I think this category should be reserved for what I would call super luxurious homes. This doesn't quite make this category but it is close. .

The appliances were super and having 2 dishwashers was great with our crowd. The bedroom arrangement is good and separated the children and adults nicely. Made good use of foosball and air hockey.

Hot tub was refreshing even in the summer heat.

Lake access was easy and the cove was perfect for swimming and relaxing.

Negatives? Might be nit picking, but the master shower was a disappointment in a home of this quality. No TV in the master bed room. It would be nice to have a screened porch - mosquitos are an issue at the lake.

As others have noted, the pictures on the website don't do the place justice.

Overall a great experience for our family (children and grandchildren). We would not hesitate to come back.

Another Great Vacation at Smith Mountain Lake

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this fantastic house that we rented in Huddleston. It was beautiful, spacious, and it entirely met all of our family's needs. With 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, the house was able to accommodate very comfortably 6 adults and 6 children. The kitchen was well appointed (two dishwashers!) and exceeded our expectations. The grounds were beautiful with the sandy beach being a hit with the children. The outside fire pit was also a big winner with the grandchildren roasting marshmallows for their smores. All in all, it was a fantastic experience. We highly recommend this house for your family's vacation at the lake.

Perfect Lake Weekend

  • 5 of 5

Thanks to the Jenkins' family for an absolute perfect getaway! The house and the property were all perfectly maintained and offered all of us a really fun and worry free experience. Great for kids, there was something for everyone. Swimming, hot tub, foosball, fishing, etc. Looking forward to a return trip next year!

The perfect New Year's away from the big city

  • 5 of 5

This was one of the best trips I've ever taken. There were 6 of us, and we spent the week of New Year's at this house on the lake. The weather kept up with us, and we were able to take out the kayaks and explore, we went on a beautiful hike, and thoroughly enjoyed all the amenities of the house. The construction on this home is immaculate, so much thought was put into every corner of the house, and we were able to spread ourselves out and still feel like we were all close together. The kitchen is so well equipped that we realized we overpacked when we drove down. Some people in our group spent a lot of time in the basement where they have a big gaming area, and that was really fun. We enjoyed the hot tub and the fire pit on some of the colder nights, and that was such a welcome change. Truly, this is one vacation getaway I would recommend over and over again. It's so perfectly tucked away in the forest, the stars were so incredibly clear at night, and we were not left wanting for anything the entire time we were there. Thank you so much to the hosts for being so gracious and letting us in your home, we do hope we are able to stay with you again!

Beautiful home. Perfect for a quiet family getaway.

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect location for my family. Beautiful home with plenty of space. I had my family along with my sister's family and our parents totaling 6 adults and 4 kids under the age of 11. The home was family friendly and great for those who want to unplug from the world. Owner was very responsive and we had no issues during the trip. We plan on returning next year.
