Comfortable, convenient, bright
We enjoyed our stay in this apartment. It's comfortable, quiet, light, airy and spacious (especially for Paris). I also really liked the neighborhood for its diversity and being off the "tourist track." The view into the garden courtyard was a treat. (We do wonder if the many windows make the apartment very warm in July and August, but we were there earlier in the year.) The apartment is a quick and easy walk to a major Metro station (Bastille) and there are many restaurants, grocery stores (I'd pick Monoprix), and businesses nearby. The apartment itself shows some signs of wear and tear, but the managers were quick to respond when notified of a minor problem. The "self-check-in" was nice because we were jet-lagged and it was great not to have to coordinate meeting someone. We enjoyed our stay and given the opportunity, we would gladly rent this apartment again!
Well positioned quiet apartment
Luminous and spacious apartment facing an inside court. Well equipped. Closed to lively night life and commerce.
Need to follow closely the detailed instructions to find it.
Large apartment, quiet, good location.
The apartment is quite secure and private. You access the apartment complex through two locked doors and take a walk across a large, attractive courtyard to reach the building entrance which means that the apartment is well removed from the surrounding streets and very quiet. The apartment itself is large and airy by Paris standards and provides plenty of room to spread out. Notwithstanding a few maintenance shortcomings in the apartment itself, the apartment complex is well maintained by a full-time staff and all of the systems (heating, plumbing, electric) worked as expected (though we did not try the dishwasher and used the washer/dryer only for drying towels). Moreover, we came to appreciate that the complex was well built – the building was dead quiet and well insulated.
The location is very convenient. The Bastille metro station is a short (less than 5 minute) walk and it is served by three metro lines. It was relatively simple to find efficient metro connections to most places in Paris. Also, there is a large taxi stop within a block of the metro stations and it appeared that taxi access would be simple (though we used the metro exclusively). The apartment is also a very short walk from Blvd Richard Lenoir which is the home of the Bastille marche on Sundays and Wednesdays. If you are not familiar with Paris’ open air markets, they are a must for your visit, and Bastille is among the largest and best. Most of the residents in the neighborhood are young singles (we saw relatively few seniors or children) and the neighborhood, while not fancy, had good energy. There were plenty of restaurants and bars within a two block radius as well as patisseries and grocery stores (two within a block of the front door of the complex).
As noted above, we found a few shortcomings inside the apartment. The flooring was buckled in some areas and the baseboard was pulled away from the wall in the bedroom and entry. We guessed that there had been some form of plumbing issue that has not been properly fixed. Also, the blinds in the living room were poorly mounted and were in poor repair. We did not attempt to operate one blind for fear that it might fall from the wall. Last, the apartment furnishings and equipment could use a bit of an upgrade. None of this proved to be a substantial issue and it all could be fixed with a very modest investment by the apartment owner. As a last note, the immediate area of the apartment appeared to be a bit sketchy
Spacious, light, airy, and surprisingly quiet apartment overlooking beautiful courtyard.
We were very pleased. Only drawback was tiny kitchen and lack of proper wine glasses!
Convenient appartment, very calm, although situated in a busy part of Paris
The appartement is located at an intersection with busy rue de La Roquette and is only 5 minutes walk to Bastille. The appartement itself is within a renovated building, and overlooks an inside garden. So it is very quiet for those (like me) who value this immensely.
Inside the appartment situated on the second floor (premier étage en français), it had what you need and expect. However we could not take advantage of the bow window, as there were no curtains, but only office shutters, which needed to be closed unless you don't care about anyone seeing you undressed (temperature was over 30 during my stay). The furniture was also cheap (Ikea sort) and could be improved.
I still recommend the place for the two main drivers for me: location in a great lively place of Paris and still as quiet as it can be.
Paris weekend at Midi apt
I stayed in this apartment with my two older daughters - the location was great ! The full wall of windows was perfect for a small apartment giving a lot of light and spaciousness! The apartment complex was lovely and very quiet on a wonderful street.
The supplies for the apartment could be upgraded - one roll of toilet paper - had to buy additional rolls late night - not what I wanted to be doing. Towels a little thin. No paper towels .
Hi Carla, Thanks for your kind review. The apartment is indeed in a great location, is very quiet and bathes in light !
As detailed in the documents we sent you before your stay, contrarily to an hotel, consumables have to be bought by the guests.
We obviously provide the basics for arrival.
