Our Caribbean Villa is an upgraded, two-story, two-lanai villa on the top two floors of the premier building on one of the premier beaches overlooking St. Johns, British Tortola, Jost Van Dyke, and Grass Cay. Your stay in our Caribbean Villa will truly capture the island spirit, trade winds, and the beauty of the Caribbean. Our Villa has been personally decorated in a Caribbean-décor, and a list of the many features of our Villa and its location are noted below.

-Close to gorgeous private pool on 'wedding' point with unparalleled view of St. Johns and British Virgin Islands.

-Upgraded décor in Caribbean ambience including lithographs such as from renowned local artist, Jonna White.

-Cathedral wood ceiling on second floor.

Excellent privacy yet open air to bring in the Caribbean trade winds, which you will greatly appreciate (However, AC with separate controls on both levels.)

-For January 2017, we have slept 12 nights in a row with no AC on, doors open, no bugs, wonderful Caribbean trade winds, and the sound of the waves (of course, we cannot guarantee all of this, but we are optimistic, that that if you choose, to have your doors open, you should be able to do such most nights enjoying the trade winds, no bugs, no rain, and the sound of waves).

-Close (less than 1 mile) to Red Hook for ferries, numerous restaurants, shopping, chartering, and boating.

• A Million dollar view that even the Ritz Carlton cannot compete with and both from main floor lanai and master bedroom floor lanai.

• The best trade winds, especially when it is hotter in the summer months, and typically one can sleep with sliding glass doors with fans on, windows in master bath open, and no mosquitoes and you hear the waves. (Note: if no wind, then close the doors and use the AC, because there can be bugs.)

• Best privacy because beach-walkers and sight-see-ers cannot look into you Villa.

• Rennovated Villa with multiple Caribbean decorations, pictures including art work from local well-known artist, Jonna White.

• All new sliding glass doors on both levels. (That is important, and be gentle).

• Caribbean décor

• Hillsdale day bed with extra thick mattress (very comfortable) with pull out separate trundle bed, which also has extra thick mattress and also is very comfortable. This is in addition to the King size bed.

• Two small mattress behind the trundle bed for children

• Two self inflating electric air mattress in King bed foot locker (one twin and one queen. These can be used on the pull out sleeper sofas down stairs. These are located in the locker at the foot of king size bed upstairs and TV draw downstairs.

• Premier Bassett couch with pull out double sleeper sofa on main level.

About Douglas Van Nostrand

I am Douglas Van Nostrand, the owner of Villa E303, and I purchased my Villa in 2005. I have been a physician for 43 years, and I am presently the Director, Nuclear Medicine Research at the MedStar Research Institute and MedStar Washington Hospital Center, and Professor of Medicine at Georgetown University Hospital Center. I have been active in patient care, education, and research of thyroid cancer publishing over several hundred abstracts, articles, and chapters and have authored, edited, and published 9 books. I presently live on the Magothy River of the Chesapeake Bay in Pasadena, Maryland and vacation in Sapphire Beach, St. Thomas.

How did we chose my vacation Villa in this location? My wife and I have traveled throughout the Caribbean to many of the islands for 20+ years, and while traveling, we have been looking for the perfect location for our vacation villa. This was the island. This was the resort. This was the beach, and this was the Villa. St. Thomas is one of the easiest islands to travel to, and it is a United States territory with U.S. laws and justice. It is indeed one of the most beautiful islands with all the beauty of the Caribbean while also having one of the best duty free shopping areas as well as all the benefits and amenities of home such as K-Mart and Home Depot. It also has medical care in Red Hook as well as the Roy Schneider Hospital in Charlotte Amalie. It is also one of the friendliest islands, and absolutely the best 'stepping-off' point for visiting many other islands including St. Johns, St. Croix, Tortola, Jost Van Dyke, Virgin Gorda, and many more for easy day trips. Finally, St. Thomas has wonderful weather and warm water throughout the year, which is far superior to Florida, which may sometimes have cold days in winter and very sultry hot days in summer. I know; I was raised there. Sapphire Beach is, in our opinion, the best beach on the island exceeding Magens Bay, and it is indeed THE best beach on the island where you can lodge and be only 20 feet away from the Caribbean Sea with great swimming, snorkeling, and views of St. Johns, Tortola, and Jost Van Dyke. In regard to our Villa, we selected E Building because of the most magnificent views, the wonderful trade winds, and the privacy. It cannot be beaten any where--including the Ritz. Finally, because all the Villas and Suites are individually owned, it is also a very friendly resort. We now have many friends here, and they are not just owners but also guests who come back year after year at the same time. It is wonderful. This has truly been an unexpected benefit.

What makes this condo unique

Some of the unique benefits we enjoy at Sapphire Beach include:

- Being just 30ft from the water. We don't have to walk far to the sandy beach and water

- We have some of the best snorkeling in St. Thomas and St. Johns right at Sapphire (with the best snorkeling in front of our building.)

-The Marina is just a few steps away from our villa if we want to go on snorkeling/diving excursions to the BVI's or St Johns

- The waterfront pool is just steps away where we can swim and relax on the deck sunning and enjoying the tropical breezes. It has been the cover on many magazines.

- The dive shop on the premises is now back open for all our snorkeling needs.

--The Condominium Associates supplies complimentary lounge chairs to our guests without charge. One of our staff will put out and take in each day for you.

--The property is secured by our contracted condominium Security staff members 24-7.

I have visited Italy many timmes, and for me it is one of the prettiest countries that we have visted, and we have visited many countries. However, I am honored that a family from Italy came to St. Thomas, Sapphire Beach and our Villa. St. Thomas, Sapphire Beach, and our Villa are truly beautiful with the Caribbean greenery on most of the island, palm trees, cystral blue green water, white sands, wonderful trade winds, many activities for everyone as well as peace and quit with literally a million dollar view of St. Johns and British Tortola. So, for our European cousins, I recommend exploring the United States Virgin Islands. Thanks for staying with us, and I hope you join over 50% of our other guest, who repeat guests.

Please note: Other than Banana Cabana for breakfast or lunch between Building B and C, no restaurants are located on Sapphire Beach. However, there is a restuarant on adjacent property with extensive restaurants in Redhook, which is 0.7 miles away.

Grapevine Restaurant in Sapphire Village ~2 minute walk. (At the time of this writing, Grapevine Restaurant will deliver pizza and full menu to condo unit).

At check in, recommend checking for present free shuttles to various restaurants, which varies from month to month and year to year.

Excellent views,owner very helpful, great location

Our family of 6 had a wonderful week for a number of reasons. One of those was the condo- the location, the incredible view, the amenities and the owners were all a part of that. The two decks allowed the extra space we needed for sitting and relaxing each day.

Everything was exactly as described in the listing and in the reviews. Van went out of his way to make sure we had all the info we needed, and sent us his own 30-page guide covering the condo, the complex and St. Thomas.

Snorkeling is amazing right outside the hotel - My wife and I have been to most of the other popular snorkeling spots on St. Thomas and St. John and feel that this is in the top 3 sites, along with Leinstur bay/Watermelon key on St. John, and Coki beach (located just a couple of miles from Sapphire beach) - The water in front of building A, B and C contains a large sea grass area where we spotted a couple of rays and turtles. The right side of the beach in front of A,B and C has an excellent reef, that has some spectacular coral formations and fish, which are amazing if you swim all the way out the end of the reef. The beach in front of condo's D and E has reefs that jut out along either side of the beach, which also have great coral formations if you swim out to the ends of the reef, particularly on the left side. Saw squid, octopus and barracuda on the left side, along with scores of fish.

Van is great to work with - he promptly answered our emails whenever we had questions. The condo is very well stocked and maintained.

We definitely hope to rent this condo again.

Amazing Stay

We spent the month of February in this unit and could not have asked for a better vacation. The condo is spacious and the view is outstanding. There is no better view of St John and the British Virgin Islands. The water continually changes shades of blue as the sun moves overhead. Hands down the E building is the sperior location on the property. You are literally 150 feet from the blue waters of the beach. The unit is very comfortable with two full bathrooms, one on each of the floors. Beach chairs and beach towels are complimentary. The pool is two tiered and is great for children and adults. Redhook is just a five minute cab ride (or five minute drive if you rent a car)and offers many restaurants as well as a market for groceries. There are many other restaurants on the island that are great and we have tried most of them. if you like snorkeling, the reef and grassy area in front of the dive shack is a great place to try. Doug is great to deal with and I highly recommend a stay in this unit; try it you will come back

Excellent View

My wife and I greatly appreciated our 3 day stay at Van's beachfront villa on Sapphire Beach. It was very clean and well supplied. Van is an excellent communicator providing us with much info regarding activities and restaurants. We enjoyed sitting on the elevated chairs on the upper floor, enjoying the view and sounds. Snorkeling at Coki Beach was fun and touring historic Hassel Island was educational. I would definitely recommend this villa for anyone staying on St. Thomas.

A perfect month in St Thomas

We just got back from a month in paradise at Sapphire Beach and Doug’s condo. I will say four weeks there is just not enough!!! The extraordinary views, warm blue waters and the sun and warmth are the reason we go back to St Thomas and Doug’s condo every year (this was our tenth year). If you like to snorkel, as I do, you can go snorkeling right in front of the condo or go in front of the scuba shack, both locations are great. There are some very good restaurants in Red Hook and it is just about a half mile from the condo. You can also get the ferry to St John’s from there. We always go there a few times during our stay for some dining and beaching. If you rent a car, as I do, there are some great sights and restaurants on the island, but you do need to drive or take a taxi. I guess I can go on and on but going back to St Thomas and Doug’s condo for the last ten years speaks for it self.

Thanks Doug!!!! We can’t wait to enjoy your place again in February 2016.

Very Happy!!!!

In a nutshell our stay was great. Our room was very nice and clean. Plenty of room for 4 of us. View was great along with the trade winds at night. Loved sitting outside at night watching the boats head to and from St. John. The beach itself is really great for snorkeling and just relaxing along with some rocks for searching for star fish etc. There seemed to be at one time a bar at the pool but it is now shut down whichs makes it very quiet. Would have been nice for some night life. Van was very pleasant to talk to and answer any questions we had. The listing tells it like it is no surprises. Keep in mind this is not like going to a five star hotel but if you want peace and quiet and and being right on the beach with great views this is the place for you. Highly recomended.

Owner's Response: We are always pleased when one of our guests has had a great visit, and all our reviews give testimony to our Villa, amenities, trade winds, beautiful beach (40 feet away), snorkeling, gorgeous "picture-perfect" pool (has been on multiple magazine covers), and literally a million dollar view of St. Johns and British Virgin Islands. Of note, this guests points out a very important fact. Sapphire Beach Resort and Marina are individual Villas and Suites each owned by individual owners, and as a result have a different style than Paradise Island and Sandals, which are more hotel-like, typically more expensive, and encourage the guests to remain on the resort properties. However, Sapphire Beach Resort and Marina has virtually every thing anyone could want on one of the most beautiful islands, St. Thomas, from the best duty free shopping anywhere, gorgeous harbor (Charlotte Amalie), excusions of all kinds from fishing, snorkeling, diving, parasailing, zip-lines, and Soggy-Dollar Bar to ferries to St. Johns as well as British Tortola right from Red Hook 0.7 miles away, many resturants as well as many other activities that a single all-inclusive resort cannot offer. Outstanding View!!!

We have been staying in this villa for almost ten years and we are going back again in 2015. We started with one week and now go for four weeks. The reason: Outstanding views of St John, the morning sunrise and the blue, blue waters from both balconies. With the constant warm Caribbean breezes you get in this unit, there is no need to use the air conditioner.

Snorkeling at Sapphire Beach is exceptional. This year there were many turtles, rays, barracuda and one octopus hiding in the coral reef. We always rent a car, as we like to explore the rest of the island and enjoy trying different restaurants and Caribbean foods.

As a golfer I always play a few times at the Mahogany Run Golf Course, home of the world famous Devil’s Triangle. The course also has a great place to dine, The Mahogany Grill.

I could say many other great things about this unit, Sapphire Beach and the island but coming here for almost ten years and going back again next year speaks for it self.
