About Andrea & George

We came on a whim to take a drive through the country. We had no thoughts of buying anything. Before we left we had puchased 500 acres of beautiful forest land right on Kentucky Lake just below the Kentucky border.

From 1992 on we did improvements everywhere. We put a road in 2.5 miles and brought in electricity.

We moved in, (1999).

Andrea & George purchased this house in 1992

Why Andrea & George chose Stewart

We live on the 500 acres of our property. We retired here because of the beauty of the nature all around us. There are only 8,000 very friendly folks living in our county. There is one grocery store and only 4 places to buy gas and no shopping centers! We do have our own fuel tanks for guests.

We do not lock our doors at our home. (Do not even remember where the keys are.)

The Lake is 184 miles long with over 2000 miles of shore line. It is one of the great fresh water fishing lakes in the USA.

Hardwood forests dominate the land.

It is God's country. We love living here.

We came, we saw, we bought, we retired here.

What makes this house unique

Our own 4 wheeler/hiking trails start near the cabin. Panoramic vistas with forests and water and no development make this area an ideal place for vacationing for families and group getaways.

Nature surrounds us.

Our land is on the Mississippi Flyway. In the spring and fall we have all the migratory birds come through us.

Bald eagles are here year round. We see them from the shore and best of all from the water.

Kentucky Lake is one of the best fishing lakes in the South.

The lake is ideal for all water sports. Lots of coves with calm waters for skiing and swimming.

Even on holidays you will be quite alone on the water and forest.

Orchard View Fun

  • 4 of 5

My husband, dog Sally and I stayed two weeks in the Orchard View Cabin. WONDERFUL quiet, secluded with miles of trails to walk. Plenty of wildlife viewing with box turtles, wild turkeys, birds including a whipporwill. George & Andrea are the perfect hosts and made sure we had everything we needed. The only downside was the length of the drive (almost 20 minutes) from this particular cabin to where our boat was moored. Loved the fire pit and the screened in front porch.

Owner's Response: Yes, the drive time to our boat dock from Orchard View is, I would say, 10 to 15 minutes, BUT, Orchard View is only $169.00 per night.

Our Stay At Woods N' Water Cabins

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a place for our family, and our dog, who is family to us, to inexpensively take a week's vacation, get away from the hustle and bustle of every day life and finally decided on Woods N' Water. We were definitely NOT DISAPPOINTED with our decision!

We booked one of their cabins, and also rented one of their pontoon boats and also rented one of their atv's. The cabin was super clean and well equipped for everything a family would need. They had a fire pit and also provided split wood! Each day we would tube, swim and have fun on the pontoon boat, come in and have lunch, then we would go out on the 4-wheeler and explore. Then at the end of the day we would grill out dinner, then sit by the fire, gazing at the beautiful starlit sky. It was so quiet and relaxing.

If we needed anything, George and Andrea were but a phone call away and they were very accommodating, but not intrusive.

I could be selfish and not comment about this out of the way getaway, but I just had to write to say we had a fabulous time at Woods N' Water and plan on taking future family vacations there.

The house was very nice and the surroundings and view was excellent. Andrea & George made sure we had everything and checked in periodically to make sure everything was good. The atv's, pontooning were a blast. We've already told friends and they've been online to look at booking vacations with them. The online description and pics are really good. Thanks for a nice relaxing peaceful vacation

Very secluded

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from staying at the Lake Shore Cabin and had a wonderful time. This home is right on the lake and the view reminded us of being on a balcony on a cruise ship..... nothing but water. The house is clean and completely stocked with everything you could need, dishwasher, washer/dryer, all appliances, land line phone. Our Verizon cell phones did not work so I would suggest if you can, to bring a walkie talkie to communicate with your family that may be taking a walk or out on the lake. You could access Facebook through the free WiFi, so we also communicated that way. We rented Georges' fishing boat and loved being on the water. If you want to bring your own boat, you can launch it right in front of this cabin. Our neighbor, Joe, came over and introduced himself. If you don't like dogs wandering on your deck, just close gate provided. All the dogs were nice and friendly though and loved to be petted.

WOODS AND WATER IS THE PLACE TO PICK - LOOK NO FURTHER!!

  • 5 of 5

This is a fantastic place to stay and I highly recommend it to anyone. It has a long winding road into a very private wooded area. The grounds are beautiful and the owners are wonderful. The walk to the lake is well worth the view. It is so peaceful and quiet. The cabin has everything one would want - it is a home away from home. The pictures do not do it justice. We all agreed that George should have let us take the pictures for him. The master bedroom is huge, and the huge tub in the master bedroom was wonderful after we had been out and about all day. The other two bedrooms were very nice. We pushed the singles together and made big beds - worked perfectly. The kitchen is large and has all the equipment you could need. They also have a washer and dryer. We highly recommend sitting out in the evening on the front porch and listening to the chirpings and such. We weren't in the area for fishing and sports, but it would have been perfect if you were. George has all the toys for use, and he was a very nice host. We were four women coming for the week to volunteer work in the area and all agree that if we came back to the area, we would definitely book at Woods and Water. You won't be disappointed! Lisa
