Thank you so much! Loved the pictures and they will be hanging on the cabin wall soon☺️
Such a hidden gem. The sweetest host & a perfect location! A little spot to stay that’s great for adults and kids! We loved the front porch, the trails, and the cabin was so cozy! The host had way more than expected accommodations available and responded to messages very quickly!
Beautiful cabin in a quiet secluded location. Host was very quick and easy to communicate with and made sure we were 100% satisfied with our stay. Can’t recommend enough!
John's Cabin was a great place to go back to after an evening out (concert and casino) to unwind. It was peaceful and perfect for the 2 of us. Billie was a great host, checked on us via text upon arrival, offered a late checkout (we didn't ask) and unlike many places we've rented, didn't have a lengthy list of "chores" to do before checkout. We always appreciate that as it doesn't make leaving feel rushed. We would definitely stay here again!

Charming and quiet place for a getaway, super close to French Lick Resort, warm and communicative host
Came to stay for a night with my kids and Mom for an impromptu spring break day trip turned overnight. The cabin is adorable and the host was quick with communication. I enjoyed the quiet and the relative closeness for our day trip activities to Wilstem and Spring Mill Park.
The cabin was perfect for our one night stay. The owner was easy to communicate with and very accommodating. The interior was clean and had what we needed. We would stay again!
Perfect property. Animal visits (turkeys, deer, hummingbirds), fishing was incredible, comfort of stay and communication with owner was amazing! Highly recommended - I’d stay again for sure!

Thanks so much, Steve! We really enjoyed having you. It was a pleasure! Also, thank you so much for the set of dishes. What a wonderful surprise!
Billie and her partner were the greatest hosts! The cabin was spotless upon arrival, and she was kind enough to offer AND deliver food from their BBQ Food Truck (highly recommend if available). The area was exactly what we needed for a quick getaway in the woods. Nestled in the woods in a nice spot with a few acres of trail to walk on. Cabin itself is very cozy. Rain on a tin roof and rocking chairs on the porch is hard to beat. Thanks Billie!!!
Billie was very receptive from the time we booked the cabin to check out. The cabin was spotless, very primitive and was stocked well. 10/10 absolutely perfect will return.
Great property! Great host! Wonderful time away with my boys!

About the host
Hosted by Billie A Deel
Like many other places, John’s cabin has a story. It started as a family project just for fun. John had the idea of building us a cabin in the woods. It was going to be a small cabin, kind of like a man cave. Then, we got the opportunity to tear down an old house in French Lick which had nice solid boards as the skeleton. That’s when the cabin plans started to change. The small cabin now had a larger blueprint in John’s mind. As the old house was torn down, boards were salvaged and hundreds of old nails were removed. The unique foundation would be concrete-filled rigged tile, as the cabin would sit up off the ground. Later down the road, he planned to dig a basement under the structure and build on a laundry room off the back of the kitchen, but for now, this would be one level with a loft. Another blessing came when we were given the windows out of another old house that was being torn down. One of our sons built the cedar cabinets in shop class in high school. We cut trees from our property, took them to the Amish, and had them cut for the wall covering, along with the cedar floor. Everything started to come together nicely. Thanks to other family members and some friends, this cabin was a success. The building began and finished in the year 2010. Talk about proud, this family was proud. For now, it was just a place to enjoy. Future plans were to retire here but God had other plans. He took John home in December of 2017, after a tragic accident. Our family had to adjust to life without him. But John’s cabin……. We decided we had to keep it in good shape no matter what. Septic was installed and we found a wonderful renter for 4 years. When our renter moved, VRBO was our next thought. Why not let other people enjoy it and help keep it alive? And here we are, hoping you see the beauty in his cabin as we do. Not just the cozy, warm feeling, but the special story that built it. Sincerely, The Deel Family
