Very pleasant stay in Inchicore

The location wasn’t too far away from the rail/other main locations when we needed to drive. It was a good time 10/10 would recommend. Grainne was very quick to respond if I had questions

Cosy and nice apartment for a good price

We stayed in the apartment for 7 days (family with 3 children). Nice furniture, clean, everything perfect. Home owners were very friendly and everything asked for was organized immediately. We felt at home and come back when the weather is warmer.

Excellent accomodations

My family recently stayed in Dublin for 3 days and found this flat to be clean, comfortable and spacious. The location is about a 10 minute drive from city centre, but that was not an issue. Taxi's and the Luas (public transportation train) were easily available and less than 10 euro. Grainne, Rory and Vallerie took great care of us and we would love to visit again!

Bay apartment

Everything was as advertised. An excellent location to reach Dublin especially using the LUAS line. We found a wonderful Italian restaurant called Torino down the street on Tyrconnell and saw an amateur hurling match in Crumlin Village. Thanks Grainne!!! Pat Vail

Nice apartment.

Very nice and clean apartment. Valerie, who greeted us, was very helpful. We had a small problem that was solved quickly and efficiently. Really recommend the Italian restaurant down the rd for a meal close to home. About an hour walk into Dublin, which we did one day. The tram is close and convenient to get into Dublin.

Ireland neighborhood

My daughter and I spent a week touring in and around Dublin. This was close to public transportation both the tram and buses. We did feel cold in the flat most of the time we were there. Nice bathroom. Not much in the way of amenities. Kitchen appliances were sufficient and some groceries in the cupboard.

A Real Dublin Neighborhood

It's next door to a church and school, half a block from a grocery store and bus stop, 2 blocks from the tram. It's a real neighborhood where people live, not full of short term rentals and tourists. We liked it a lot. DEFINITELY take them up on the offer to reserve a driver from the airport. Rory is the driver, and he already knew how to get the key and where our apartment was, which was extremely helpful, so he didn't just leave before we got inside. I don't love standing in front of a building I don't know fumbling with the app on my phone and the lockbox and my luggage when I'm traveling with kids.

Very Quaint Apartment

The Upstairs Apartment is newly renovated, clean, and nicely decorated. The house is located within walking distance of the Luas (tram) that takes you directly to downtown Dublin. It's also walking distance of one of our favorite pubs, The Black Lion. The only thing remotely negative was the front yard - trash dumped inside of the gate and looked a bit rough, but so did many of the yards in that neighborhood. However, the neighborhood was safe and within walking distance to mass transit and nice pubs with great food. The owner (Gráinne) was in constant contact with us, the caretaker (Valerie), and the taxi driver (Rory). We felt like we were in good hands. We will be back to stay in Inchicore, Dublin!

Wonderful owners and welcoming apartment

Our family of five spent four nights in Dublin. Vincent met us upon arrival and was very gracious. The apartment was clean and welcoming. The apartment is perfect if only using the beds (to sleep 3). The pull out sofa beds were not comfortable at all and I would recommend bringing an air mattress instead (if you need sleeping arrangements for more than 3). We also had a hard time getting the heat to keep the apartment warm, but we were there during record low nights in Dublin so that may be a fluke. We would definitely stay in the apartment again. Grainne (owner) could not have been more helpful. She always answered all of my e-mails quickly. Thank you for your hospitality!

Beautiful, clean flat in great location. Great owner's will take good care of you.

The flat was everything we expected and more. You can tell that it was put together with the comfort of the traveler in mind. It has everything you could need, including washer and dryer. Very clean, very comfortable, great location. Two groceries, pharmacies, restaurants within a 10 minute walk. We visited the Black Lion Pub and the Italian restaurant recommended by the owner's care taker, Valerie. The Italian restaurant is absolutely wonderful, the owner is right on top of everything, we ate there 2 of the 4 nights we were in Dublin. The Pub was the perfect place to stop for drinks before dinner. Valerie checked on the property during our stay to make sure everything was working, IE heater. We used the LUAS for transportation around the city and that worked very well, the stop for the flat is only 15 minutes away by the Black Horse Pub. We would love to come back to Dublin, and would certainly stay in this flat, will recommend it to all our friends.

Not the right place for us....

Our stay at this VRBO was very disappointing due to several issues that impacted our experience. The unit wasn’t clean, with black mould in the shower, dirty dishes, and rusted cutlery. We also faced multiple maintenance issues: the shower drain didn’t work and backed up, and the dishwasher leaked across the kitchen floor. Noise was a constant issue. The walls were so thin that we could hear conversations from neighbours, hallway noise, and other units. The photos of the unit were outdated; we noticed peeling paint, wall damage, and a hole in the wood floor, which we only saw because a side table wasn’t level. There was also a shortage of hot water—we had to stagger showers, as the hot water ran out midway through the second shower each morning. It’s unclear how this unit is advertised for five people when only two can shower consecutively. The layout was awkward, too. With four people (three in the bedroom and one on the living room pullout), the only bathroom being accessible through the bedroom made it difficult for anyone in the living room to use it at night without waking others. The on-site caretaker was rude, and entered the unit without permission, which felt invasive. Though the host and caretaker addressed some issues, we began looking for alternative accommodations as we were so disappointed. I would not recommend this place (I could say more but I'm at my character limit) and I'm surprised it has so many positive reviews given how terrible it was.

Charming Apartment and Great Location for Exploring Dublin

My husband and I spent 4 days in Dublin to celebrate our wedding anniversary and always prefer to stay in a "home" rather than the standard hotel. The apartment here was perfect and as advertised---- clean, charming, comfortable and easy to get around via the Luas tram and bus. The Inchicore area itself was nice and we loved being next to the church and just a few minutes from the food market, The Black Lion pub and an excellent Italian restaurant. We also were within walking distance of the Kilmainham Gaol and the Guinness Storehouse. The owners made arrangements to have us picked up at the airport and Rory was waiting for us upon our 5:30 am arrival. After flying all night, it was nice to be greeted by such a friendly person who made us feel instantly comfortable. Valerie (the apartment manager) also met us and gave us some helpful tips and other highlights to explore in the city. The apartment was equipped with free Wi-Fi which made it easy for us to make arrangements, check e-mail, etc. All in all, it was a lovely stay and we would highly recommend it. The only minor complaint was the bed was a little hard for our taste. That said, we slept well each night after full days of exploring! Thanks again for making this a wonderful trip.

Wonderful Week in Tigh Tirconaill Rental

My family was lucky enough to find this little gem to rent for a week. We were in Dublin fro an event being held at City West. While all our friends were confined to a hotel room, we had the luxury of a clean, beautiful, modern appointed apartment. The location was great, a short stroll to the Luas, and within a little town. The kids loved walking down to get the milk in the morning, and my husband was happy to frequent The Black Lion Pub. The teenage son had his internet connection for his Facebook, and I the mama could do laundry, and make a nice meal if I chose. The cabinet were stocked not only with pots, pans and dishes, but pretty platters, and place mats as well. Nothing was forgotten... from a kitchen apron, to shopping bags for the market. The car was securely parked in the back of the apt. in a gated area. The beds were comfortable, the linens fresh and crisp. The children utilized the pull out sofas and all the linen was there to make them up nicely. As far as heat, not a worry. If anything, it was too warm. Should we be lucky enough to come to Dublin, I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Comfortable apartment with parking is a great base to explore Dublin

We had a great stay in the “Michael Collins” apartment and enjoyed our time in Dublin. The owners gave a great set of check in instructions, including directions from the airport to the private parking yard (very convenient). Check-in using the keysafe is easy and convenient. Note that the pictures show two similar but different apartments that are in the same building, but you can figure out which is which as some are labeled and they are very similar anyway. The apartment is nice, comfortable and just as described. The old building and its high ceilings and great crown moldings are very cool. The washer and dryer are in a separate room off the bathroom which is very convenient. The heating is a bit confusing at first (there is a unconnected timer which the owners told me would soon be removed or covered), but I quickly figured out that the radiator valves were just all closed, I opened them and everything worked fine from there. The wifi was great. There can be a little noise when people are moving in the upstairs apartment, not surprising in an old building, but it did not cause any problem sleeping at night. The neighborhood is convenient with small markets in easy walking distance. The Italian restaurant just down the street a few doors past the Black Lion pub is HIGHLY recommended. We had a great dinner there. The kids loved it, and the pizza, pasta and ambiance were all outstanding. This was a great base to explore Dublin for a few days and we would be happy to stay there again.

Wonderful apartment

We brought our soon-to-be 13 year old grandson to Dublin to celebrate his upcoming birthday; the Michael Collins apartment was perfect for the three of us. From my first contact with owner Grainne, our experience was lovely! The unit is quite large with a full kitchen where I cooked several meals. Lots of room for our grandson to spread out - comfy beds, a pull-out couch. Free WiFi was a bonus and we watched several Euro Cup matches on the telly. It's a comfy, cozy "home away from home" and had everything we needed. The unit features a sitting room, dining area, master bedroom and a large, attractive bathroom; a W/D on site was an extra bonus. The furnishings are modern and tasteful. This traditional brick home built in the 1800's has been updated and modernized yet still retains old country charm. The neighborhood is a working-class village with a good pub, The Black Lion, which we enjoyed very much. There are several markets nearby, banking and postal shops, and small take-away food stands. Best of all, the transportation options into Dublin are very close - we used the Red Line Luas tram and the local Dublin bus to get around with ease. Our stay was really enhanced by Valerie, the on-site property manager. She was lovely! She met us our first night, checked in with us throughout our stay and offered many suggestions. She quickly became our new Irish friend! Rory, our transport from the airport, was a wonderful help as well, and provided additional services to us throughout our stay. The warmth of everyone associated with this property made our stay truly wonderful. There are several units in this building; we were on the bottom floor and as any old building, there were creaks and footfalls above us. Valerie was always available to smooth out any issues and all the other guests during our stay were quiet and respectful. There's a school adjacent to the property and it was fun to watch/hear the little ones at play in the morning. Beautiful Catholic church next door, with a lovely park behind. (Rosary Walk) We're so delighted with our stay at the Michael Collins apartment. Thank you Grainne and Tim for your lovely hospitality - we hope to visit again soon! Great week in Dublin!

Had a great week staying here in late October, 2011. Grainne was really responsive, from the very beginning answering all my questions, right up through our visit. We did take advantage of the cell phone, which was a great addition. The apartment looked just like the photos and was very clean and well supplied. Kitchen had everything we needed. We especially appreciated the groceries that were provided (delicious bread, butter and milk) along with the supplies in the cupboard (coffee and filters, tea, sugar). We also had her driver pick us up at the airport. He was very nice and helpful; in fact we used him for a day trip and also to get back to the airport at the end of our trip. Every one Grainne has helping with the apartment is so nice. When we couldn't figure out the washer and dryer (didn't know to empty the "water bottle" in the dryer), Grainne arranged for a neighbor to come over to help us on a Sunday night! Access into Dublin was easy at either bus stop, although it was sometimes a challenge to find where to catch the bus in town to come back. We did take a taxi home several times, which was expensive - 12-15 euros - as the apartment is a little bit outside of town. Bus ride is only 20 minutes though, and the Kilmanhaim Gaol was a 10-15 minute walk. Enjoyed the Black Lion Pub a couple of times for meals, and shopped at the Tesco across the street for fruit and drinks. Felt perfectly safe walking home from the pub or grocery store in the evening. Did not take the Luas until the very end of our week, but that was also easy to use and brings you in on the north side of the Liffey. If you want to go to the south side of the Liffey, then the bus is better. Started our sightseeing with the tour at the Kilmanhaim Gaol, which provided great history and background to Dublin. Followed that with a visit to the beautiful Dublin Castle (which is kind of hidden in town; you may have to ask for help to find it). The tour guide did a great job of further explaining Irish history. We were in Dublin during the Presidential election, so we saw the room at the Dublin Castle where the inauguration will take place at 11 a.m. on 11/11/11! Also enjoyed Guinness, Jameson Distillery, Dublin Zoo, St. Patricks Cathedral, shopping and all the cafes and pubs along the way. Everywhere we ate in Dublin the food was delicious. Managed separate day trips to the Cliffs of Moher and Trim Castle, which had a great tour, too. Dublin/Ireland is a great place to visit.

First Visit to Dublin

It was our first time in Dublin and we knew we did not want to stay in a hotel. We wanted to get the “local” feel. The property was perfect for what we needed. It was clean and the neighborhood was charming! We took taxis to and from the apartment, went to The Black Lion and bought our groceries from the Tesco Express.

Easy in-and-out!

This property has everything three people need for a nice stay. It's also on a main bus route to city centre-- and a 5 minute walk in the other direction puts one on the Luas as another transportation option. The Black Lion down the street is a great place to eat a meal or just hang out. A Tesco Express is close by and just a bit farther is slightly larger Eurospar. Lovely.

Very cute and spacious apartment, just a bus ride away from the center of Dublin!

The hosts were very responsive, greatly appreciate that! The apartment was clean and spacious, although we were in the bottom floor and could hear the footsteps of the apartment above quite loudly. It shouldn't be a problem as long as the visitors above aren't up late! The location was pretty good -- It was a 15 minute bus ride to the center of Dublin or about a €15 taxi ride. There are also local grocery stores and restaurants walking distance to the apartment.

I'm Gráinne, originally from Co. Kildare and raised in a small family run hotel. I am married to Tim who is now retired from An Garda Siochána (Irish Police).

Tim and I purchased this property in 1986 and lived here for a number of years until our family grew and we needed to relocate.

We loved living in this area and have many happy memories of our first home here.

I have consistently worked in the hospitality industry and always wanted to provide holiday accommodation here as I felt this to be an ideal location. I have been lucky enough to have realized my dream.

I pay particular attention to detail and set the highest of standards in cleanliness and customer care.

Our aim is to ensure that you really feel at home and comfortable in our apartment and we will endeavor to assist you in any way with any aspect of your vacation, so that you get the most out of your trip to Dublin.

We are at the end of the phone 24 hours a day if you need any assistance.

Assuring you of our best attention.

Why they chose this property

We chose this location because of close proximity to downtown Dublin.

We loved the period red brick property with large rooms.
Fantastic large enclosed rear which is very private and unusual for a city centre property.

Easy access to any part of the countryside and still only 10 minutes from downtown.

Nice residential old part of Dublin with true Dublin characters in abundance.

Settled community with lots of nice neighbors whom you can be sure will speak to you if you bump into them.

All facilities such as banks, pharmacies, supermarkets, butchers, gas station, restaurants, pubs, hair and beauty salons, dry cleaners, etc on the street.

Super public transport with the Luas and Dublin bus.

What makes this property unique

The most unique benefit is the location.

Only 10 minutes from downtown Dublin with that real at home feeling when you arrive back after your day out.

The house was built in the 1800's and has a lovely spacious and tranquil feeling to it.

I love the large rooms and high ceilings with the original coving and open fire which is really cozy on a Winter's evening.

In the Summer time, we enjoyed many barbeques out back, and found it peaceful and quiet.

One huge benefit and highly unusual in a city apartment is the amount of both indoor and outdoor space.
