House, 4 Bedrooms 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 8)
I fell in love with the Bergen Carpender house in the year 2001. From the moment I crossed her threshold I knew that I was about to become a part of the remarkable history and legacy of this amazing home. It was like stepping back in time as the house has remained essentially unchanged from the day it was built in 1924.

Why Owner chose Wilmington
Wilmington is a vibrant city steeped in history and rooted in southern traditions. I love that you can walk to the downtown markets on Saturday mornings or take a short drive to the beaches in the summer. You can stroll down to the coffee shop and catch up with the locals. Summer evenings are spent on porch swings with a glass of wine, good gossip and making wonderful memories.
What makes this House unique
While this is a vacation property it is first and foremost my home and a place I wanted to share with people who would appreciate her character and her timeless beauty. Couple the charms of an historic home with the modern conveniences we've all come to enjoy and you have an incredible place you can call home for a while. I hope that you find all that and more at the Dames Inn.

Great location and cool home. Amazing front porch and space.
The hosts were perfect. Super responsive and caring and helpful. Our family loved the house and we had a great weekend.
The Great Escape!
If I could give my recent stay at The Dames Inn more than 5 stars, I would! I can't say enough about this experience. I was out of town on business and had the good fortune to make it my "great escape" as it felt like that to me. The Dames Inn was beautiful and located in a perfect spot that allowed me to go to the waterfront for a live concert on Friday evening, visit the Farmer's Market on Saturday morning, and have brunch at the Dixie Grill before heading home on Sunday afternoon. The house was full of rich history and articles about the Dame. I felt like I saw something new every time I entered a room. It was amazing to have this opportunity and I want to toast both, the Dame and the home's current owner, Patricia, for making my experience so special. I hope to be fortunate enough to stay in this beautiful home again!
Amazing and Comfortable Historic Home
We chose the Dames Inn for our party of 6 adults for a long weekend during which my son was getting married in downtown Wilmington. The home is very convenient not only to downtown, but also to main routes to other areas around Wilmington. The home is just lovely... like a stroll through a past era. Beautifully appointed and very comfortable, the house was clean and well maintained for such an old home. Bedding was comfortable, kitchen and bar amenities were fantastic, and the attention paid to us by Patricia and Regina was second to none. We experienced a little 'glitch' during our stay which was immediately remedied by Regina upon our reporting it... she and Patricia both were very quick to communicate with us regarding every aspect of our visit from the moment I sent Patricia a query regarding the listing (before I booked it) to the post-checkout refund of our security deposit. We all loved the experience and would HIGHLY recommend this home for your Wilmington area visit.
Awesome Home, We'll Be Back....June 2018
A truly amazing and beautiful house. The charm, character and detail takes you back to when craftsmanship were done right. The owner Patricia Peters is a delightful host. We made this our home away from home for our daughter's graduation from UNCW. Family & friends all gathered to celebrate in a beautiful setting, with a spotless house and all the comforts. We loved the unique bar setting and its own resident Pirate. We ate well with a nicely equipped large kitchen. Plenty of sleeping spaces and a knock out shower in one of the bathrooms. That shower made us almost not leave. Plenty of porch space and seating in the front and rear of house. I had either coffee or a drink in every location of the front porch in the swing or the rockers and the table/chairs in the early morning or late nights. The garden and landscaping are nicely detailed. The house is rich in history, be sure to read all the memorabilia place throughout the home. We are so glad to have stayed here with family and friends. So many compliments from our guest and their time spent touring the home. It’s also a great location to stay in downtown Wilmington, close to UNCW and beaches also. We all fell in love with so many things about the Dames Inn and hope to come back one day. I would recommend the place for weddings or family get together. Thank you Ms. Patricia, get well.
The Dames Inn is an absolutely gorgeous and charming house. The pictures don't do it justice. Patricia, the hostess, was amazing and super helpful with recommendations for our stay in Wilmington. She gave us a tour of the house filled with fun tidbits and history of the house. I would absolutely recommend staying here and hope to someday be back!
It was indeed my pleasure to host you and your friends for memorial weekend! I am so thrilled that you enjoyed your stay and look forward to seeing you again!
