Overview

About the property

Chalet, 4 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3.5 Baths, (Sleeps 10-12)

This 4000 sq. ft. luxury chalet is located on the mountainside near Vail. This great alpine setting offers spectacular views and backs up to the National Forest. From our home it is a 7 mile drive to Vail on I-70.

Our home has three levels with 4 bedrooms plus a 5th bedroom-office off the master, and there are 3.5 bathrooms with marble, granite and tile. The first level has 3 bedrooms and a game room. Each of the bedrooms has a queen bed and one has a twin as well.

The master bedroom suite occupies the top level. The office off the master has been converted to a bedroom with a queen bed (perfect for families). The master suite has cathedral ceilings and decks on two sides. The master has its own refrigerator, whirlpool tub and gas stove and TV

The center level (great room) is one large room perfect for entertaining. This whole level has been recently remodeled. Wood floors through out and an all new kitchen with granite counter tops new cabinets and appliances. There is also a built in bar with refrigerator and ice maker. There are new leather couches and a dining table that will seat up to 10.

The great room has large decks wrapping around the building along with 5 sliding glass doors that open onto the decks. The kitchen is part of the great room and does not separate the cooks from the party. We just put in all new rock fireplace and 65 inch TV with Bose sound system. The rock is the same as the Four Seasons in Vail. The gas fireplace will keep the whole great-room warm even when the outside temps are well below zero. The hot tub is on the deck right off the great room and has 2 motors running 56 jets to sooth the aching muscles.

The garage will hold two cars and is heated. The driveway is heated as well and the county takes very good care of the road up to the home.

In Ski Season we rent mostly by the week. Saturday to Saturday

About Bill Tuthill

My brother Walt and I are partners in the home. I am a retired veterinarian in Colorado Springs and Walt is a Lawyer with Morris Nichols Arsch and Tunnell in Wilmington DE. We have owned the home for 16 years and have done extensive remodeling projects every summer.

I am an avid skier and kiteboarder. Love the outdoor and Vail is a great place to be.

Bill Tuthill purchased this chalet in 1994

Why Bill Tuthill chose Northwest

We decided on this location because of it's proximity to the best skiing and because of its size. We wanted a place where we could get our families together all at the same time. We also like the place because of its private alpine setting up the mountain and backing to the National Forest.

What makes this chalet unique

Lots of room, Great views and privacy. Wonderful great room for everybody to be together cooking, lounging and enjoying the hot tub. Very family and group friendly.

Great for a Big Family

  • 4 of 5

We arrived easily at night following the directions given. Everything lit up as we approached the detached garage. We carried all of our luggage up a huge, outdoor staircase, which led us to the bottom level of the house. The house was beautiful, just like the pictures portray. The great room is magnificent as was the outdoor hot tub. The kitchen is far better stocked than I was lead to believe, as there is a veritable cornucopia of leftover dry foods. The master bedroom has a white carpet, which terrified me as I was traveling with 2 small, very active boys.

Bill was a pleasure to deal with and I only needed to contact the him once during our stay but every time we spoke, he was always pleasant, considerate, and knowledgeable. Overall the house gets a 4/5, beautiful, large, well furnished, modern and spacious and really only loses a point because of the unending stairs from the outside and up 2 more stories inside to the master. I would definitely recommend the house to a large family or 2 families. Just watch out for grandma and grandpa negotiating those stairs.

Owner's Response: Hi Glad your group had a good time. I spent a lot of time trying to figure where I could put an elevator in, but in the end no practical ideas came up. My dad was skiing and handling those stairs at 85. I do try to make sure that will not be a problem for new groups. I like providing a well stock kitchen and bath supplies. I have rented before where there are no supplies not even salt and pepper. It is not that hard or expensive to supply most cooking accessories. Hope you can come again some season.

Spacious and beautiful

  • 5 of 5

If you are traveling with a large group, I would definitely recommend this rental. We went with a group of 10 and had plenty of room for everyone. We had 6 children in all and everyone had a great time. The set up of the rental was perfect for us. The view was amazing from every angle of the house. We definitely felt at home and had everything we needed. The large size kitchen allowed us to cook meals and seat everyone at once. Condiments and cooking essentials were at our fingertips. It was nice not having to buy all the little stuff when we got there. The hot tub was very relaxing. If ever traveling with another family again, I would definitely look into staying here again.

We offer a very private location with great views.

There is a hiking for snowshoeing trail 200 yards from our home. The Vail golf clubhouse is also about 200 yds. The runs of Beaver Creek are on the mountain above us but we are not ski ski out.
