Welcome to Yunque Brisas. We are located on a beautiful 600 foot hill less than a mile from the beach. We overlook the magnificent Wyndham Rio Mar Beach Resort and have a 180 degree view from ocean to rain forest with St. Thomas in the distance. So many activities, shopping and restaurants are located within ten minutes. We are on nine and half acres and have lots of beautiful flowers, views, and an organic orchard and garden.
The trade wind breezes come right up our hill from the ocean traveling to the rain forest. Our very unique architectural villa has been here since 1982 and utilizes these magnificent trade winds so that air conditioning is not needed. Experience paradise like it was meant to be here at Yunque Brisas.
We are also a bed and breakfast. You may choose a special morning we make you a special breakfast ie. Eggs Benedict, Crepes, Creme Brulee French Toast, or a Veggie Omelette from our organic garden. All other mornings we supply a choice of continental, hot or cold cereal, or a smoothie breakfast. Buen Provecho!

My father came to Puerto Rico in the early 50's via the F.A.A.. While sitting on the beach at Playa Azul in Luquillo he looked up at this hill and said to my mother, "that would be a beautiful place to put a home." After a couple flyovers and some research from friends, my mother and father purchased our land and started building a dream home. This is where I grew up till I was eight and then moved to Florida with my mother. While growing up I always came back to this little paradise every summer. During the summers my father and I would cook every day something new for each meal for 90 days. We were not gourmets, or gourmands, but very proud gluttons. Somewhere between my father teaching me how to chef and my mother working in the hotel industry, I dabbled at it as well for about 25 years. I worked for different hotel chains, family restaurants and had a few restaurants of my own. I played bartender, server, chef and manager trekking around the country. Now I am back to my little paradise. I love to provide friends with a great experience when they are here and I love to share all the great food from the property. Hope you can spare the time to come and visit and share a story.
The Owner purchased this villa in 1982
I did not purchase this vacation home, I turned it into one. It just seemed a waste if more people did not experience this little paradise.
There are so many unique aspects of this beautiful property. The birds provide a chorus melody at sunrise. Occasionally a flock of parakeets will fly tree to tree greeting you as you wake. The mornings are calm till the 9am breeze blusters up. On a clear day you can see St. Thomas in the east, and a very clear day you can see St. Johns and Tortola. Out to the north the ocean is many shades of blue and green in and around the reefs off the points and beaches. Clouds start building up and climbing toward the rain forest. A red tailed hawk will let out a squeal as he soars the mountain overhead. More birds make their way though the property greeting you as they go. In the afternoon a shower may get pushed over from the rain forest and the sound on the roof will put you to sleep. The late afternoon brings a beautiful sunset color to the town of Luquillo and its beaches. Egrets start flocking up to the mountain and just before dark the bats come out to dazzle you with their aerial ballet. Of course, then the coquis start to serenade you while the stars come out and dazzle you. Special evenings, which we keep a sharp eye out for, is when the full moon rises out of the ocean. The best though is when friends come and visit and experience these wonders with us.
I can't say enough about how wonderful my stay was at Yunque Brisas Villa. I was looking for beauty, peace and a place to relax for a few days before my family came into town. I found that, and so, so much more! The gorgeous, simplistic architecture and bathroom with rock brings the outside in and creates a special feeling of magic. At night I sat on the private veranda/deck with a glass of wine and enjoyed listening to the 'rainforest' sounds of the cute little Coqui frogs of Puerto Rico, woke to solitude, a rising sun and a feeling of specialness all the way around. During the day I took a short walk down the hill to the beach and swimming pool of the resort. Yet, besides the accommodations, it wouldn't be the same with out the host, Brad. Besides the fact that he is a spectacular chef ( I ordered the same breakfast both days it was so good!!), he is informative, friendly and just well...a wonderful man. I feel like I've made a new, great friend! He showed me around the property, which is filled with uncountable fruit trees and more. His passion for the land is undeniable and contagious. I even brought my boyfriend back when he came into town for him to meet Brad. This is just a special place in so many ways. I can't wait to come back again!
This a great getaway for someone looking to experience a Puerto Rico vacation. For someone who wants to understand the culture and cuisine and take in the sights and sounds of nature. The villa really allows you to experience the foothills of the rainforest and comfortably enjoy the frogs and birds. It is wonderfully designed to incorporate outside and inside living. You get to hear the sounds of nature while enjoying the comfort of the indoors. The property is beautiful. Great vegetation and beautiful views of both the ocean and rainforest. Brad is knowledgeable and really goes over and beyond to make the experience incredible. His breakfast are 5* and the perfect start to the day. Make sure to pick his brain because he knows all of the good spots on the island. Don't miss this chance.
This villa was perfect for a getaway. It's secluded from other people yet is just minutes from town and the rainforest. The hosts were wonderful and very welcoming. They even cook you breakfast!! Brad went above and beyond telling us local spots to go as well as multiple things to do. The house is very openly laid out so you feel close to nature and get to sleep listening to the sounds of the frogs and birds and there's always a nice breeze coming through. It was very relaxing and I'm glad we stayed here!!
I'll just run you through a typical day at Yunque Brisas Villa. You wake up in the morning to the sound of tree frogs and exotic birds chirping in the distance, stepping out onto the patio you overlook the Caribbean, with Luquillo Beach in the distance, to your right, you see El Yunque National park. Brad greets you with fresh squeezed fruit juice, and a variety of tropical fruits to eat, after that appetizer he brings you a more traditional meal of your choosing. I suggest the eggs benedict, his lemon hollandaise is delightful! While you are eating breakfast, he helps you to plan your day, telling you things to avoid, and things you MUST do. Starting the morning off like this puts you into ease, as you have great advice that keeps you in the know, without worry.
After the morning, we explored the various parts of the island surrounding us, from the Rainforest, to La Selva and Luquillo beach, to San Juan and Arecibo. After which we would come back, rinse off in the outdoor shower, and listen to the sounds of the jungle before falling asleep.
A few things to know: You will need a rental car, an adventurous spirit, and a willingness to unwind if you stay here. Brad is an amazing person and when we go back to PR we would not hesitate to stay with him again.

P.S. Good luck with the future of the property, we can't wait to hear how things are coming along!
My husband and I LOVED staying at Yunque Brisas for our honeymoon. After the stress of planning a wedding, we wanted something that would be laid-back and secluded. We were drawn to this villa because of the architecture, location, and reviews from other guests.
First of all, we loved the boulder bathroom. It's like showering in the rain forest, which was awesome. The rest of the villa was clean, comfortable, and cozy. There is an amazing ocean view, and we were able to enjoy sunset over cocktails on the roof. We liked the natural feel of the property and enjoyed our little lizard and coqui visitors. (If you have a problem with lizards and coqui visitors, this isn't the place for you--but you'll be missing out on a real gem.)
The owner, Brad, was a combination of the best concierge you could ask for, a personal tour guide, and chef. The breakfasts every morning were delicious. The fresh fruit and juice sourced from the property were fantastic, I wish I had some now...and I'm pretty sure those were the best avocados we've ever had. (I can't eat eggs without avocado anymore thanks to Brad). And breakfast is included with the stay, which is awesome.
Brad was also great about helping us figure out what we wanted to do each day. He gave us tips on the most beautiful spots to hike in the rain forest, told us where to find a secluded natural pool, recommended the best kayaking tour of the bio bay, and gave us directions to fantastic beach spots. We also decided to spend a couple days doing nothing, and while Brad was always available to help us, we always had plenty of privacy. He directed us to some great food and introduced us to some of the nicest people we've ever met.
Each day, we would sit and chat at breakfast after we finished deciding what to do for the day, and we found out that we've lived in some of the same places and have quite a bit in common. We feel like we made a real friend at Yunque Brisas
Even though we stayed here a little over a year ago, we had such a great time, we still talk about it and look forward to going back when we can.
My husband and I were very excited to return to Puerto Rico after our last trip there two years ago. We wanted to visit a new part of the island so we chose to be close to the rainforest and ferry to go to culebra. I found what seemed to be the perfect place, based on high reviews and photos. Brad was cleaning the house when we arrived. So we went and had dinner and came back. Brad was very pleasant and hospitable. He had great suggestions for our excursions everyday. We text him several times with prompt responses to our questions. However, my husband and I were very disappointed in the villa. It was not clean, lizards, roaches, frogs and bugs camped out with us day and night. The original screens were on the Windows. The screens had large holes for any bugs to come in. The bedroom had a huge hole in the bottom of the screen, allowing things to come inside. The bathroom that was suppose to be screened in, to give one an outdoor experience while taking a shower, was not screened in. The back and side screens had fallen off because the wood had rotted. We had to keep the bathroom door shut when we came and went. I never unpacked my bags. We kept everything zipped up. We asked Brad if he could give us some spray for the roaches but he said he put borax down and that was all he could do. He got his surf board and left. We managed to stay two nights, hoping to get used to it but once we saw the roaches we knew we needed to leave. We packed up and said our goodbyes. Also, there is no garden anymore, it is weeds. The mangos supposedly were stolen by someone. The breakfasts were not what was described in the reviews. Internet signal was there but poor. We loved our day excursions. I highly recommend zip lining in the rainforest and costing the waterfalls. We never made it to Culebra since we left early and went to Isabella on the other side of the island, best decision we made.
We are located in one of the best areas of Puerto Rico. If you are interested in nature and activities, we have it all. Golf, tennis and swimming in The Wyndham Rio Mar Beach resort less than a mile away. Other activities within 10 minutes include the best beaches on the island. There are public beaches with facilities all the way to wild beaches to explore. El Yunque National Caribbean Rainforest offers many hikes, bird watching, ziplining, horseback riding, river trekking, natural slides, rope swings, waterfalls, natural pools and amazing views. You can learn how to surf a couple miles away. Everybody is guarnteed to surf. We also have some of the best surf breaks on the island in our area for surfers.
