Welcome to Yunque Brisas. We are located on a beautiful 600 foot hill less than a mile from the beach. We overlook the magnificent Wyndham Rio Mar Beach Resort and have a 180 degree view from ocean to rain forest with St. Thomas in the distance. So many activities, shopping and restaurants are located within ten minutes. We are on nine and half acres and have lots of beautiful flowers, views, and an organic orchard and garden.
The trade wind breezes come right up our hill from the ocean traveling to the rain forest. Our very unique architectural villa has been here since 1982 and utilizes these magnificent trade winds so that air conditioning is not needed. Experience paradise like it was meant to be here at Yunque Brisas.
We are also a bed and breakfast. You may choose a special morning we make you a special breakfast ie. Eggs Benedict, Crepes, Creme Brulee French Toast, or a Veggie Omelette from our organic garden. All other mornings we supply a choice of continental, hot or cold cereal, or a smoothie breakfast. Buen Provecho!

About Owner
My father came to Puerto Rico in the early 50's via the F.A.A.. While sitting on the beach at Playa Azul in Luquillo he looked up at this hill and said to my mother, "that would be a beautiful place to put a home." After a couple flyovers and some research from friends, my mother and father purchased our land and started building a dream home. This is where I grew up till I was eight and then moved to Florida with my mother. While growing up I always came back to this little paradise every summer. During the summers my father and I would cook every day something new for each meal for 90 days. We were not gourmets, or gourmands, but very proud gluttons. Somewhere between my father teaching me how to chef and my mother working in the hotel industry, I dabbled at it as well for about 25 years. I worked for different hotel chains, family restaurants and had a few restaurants of my own. I played bartender, server, chef and manager trekking around the country. Now I am back to my little paradise. I love to provide friends with a great experience when they are here and I love to share all the great food from the property. Hope you can spare the time to come and visit and share a story.

Why Owner chose Zarzal
I did not purchase this vacation home, I turned it into one. It just seemed a waste if more people did not experience this little paradise.
What makes this Villa unique
There are so many unique aspects of this beautiful property. The birds provide a chorus melody at sunrise. Occasionally a flock of parakeets will fly tree to tree greeting you as you wake. The mornings are calm till the 9am breeze blusters up. On a clear day you can see St. Thomas in the east, and a very clear day you can see St. Johns and Tortola. Out to the north the ocean is many shades of blue and green in and around the reefs off the points and beaches. Clouds start building up and climbing toward the rain forest. A red tailed hawk will let out a squeal as he soars the mountain overhead. More birds make their way though the property greeting you as they go. In the afternoon a shower may get pushed over from the rain forest and the sound on the roof will put you to sleep. The late afternoon brings a beautiful sunset color to the town of Luquillo and its beaches. Egrets start flocking up to the mountain and just before dark the bats come out to dazzle you with their aerial ballet. Of course, then the coquis start to serenade you while the stars come out and dazzle you. Special evenings, which we keep a sharp eye out for, is when the full moon rises out of the ocean. The best though is when friends come and visit and experience these wonders with us.

A perfect getaway on the Island of Enchantment
Don't stay here
Wow, was the first thing that came to mind when I saw this review. Wow in the sense, how did this happen when all the communication every day was great, fantastic, what a great time we are having. Mary Helen and Roger told me about the roach issue and I replied immediately. I explained to both Mary Helen and Roger that the way we take care of these things is prevention with boric acid, but no pesticides. We do not have an infestation. But, the glass sliding doors were open for a couple days, stuff flies in and out. This is the tropics near a rain forest. We also have lizards geckos and coquis coming and going when the doors are open by the guests for two days. This is one of the things my guests love about this open architecture. We in fact have a famous coqui that has been in the bathroom for more than fours months. One of my previous guests named him Stewie. I am not going to spray pesticides and kill Stewie and my other friends on an organic farm. So, yes if you don't want to experience natural living PLEASE DON'T COME HERE!!!
I feel sorry for Mary Helen and Roger that they where this unhappy. If they would have only said something to me, I could have found them a hotel near by where nature is not so close. I am very sorry also, that they thought I just took off surfing and didn't care. I had to deliver the surfboard and was late leaving because I spent over an hour with them helping them for the days excursion. I am still in shock from this review and the one star because I talked with Mary Helen several times on the phone, texting and emailing, I arranged their trips and excursions, linked them to the best restaurants, arranged two masseuse, and had champagne on the house with their anniversary date, twelve text messages alone for the masseuse. This I do lovingly for all my guests. But, I am human, one star hurts when you try so hard to please people and this happens. I called Mary Helen and Roger 3 times to try to get a reason behind this and they never answered or returned the messages. I don't need to explain any more. If your like all my guests before for five years and since that love living with nature, I will do my best that you have the greatest experience in Puerto Rico and the neighboring islands. If you are uncomfortable with nature listen to Mary Helen and Roger...DONT COME HERE!!
Isn't there a review grade ABOVE "excellent"? If so, that's what Yunque Brisas gets from us!
Wow, I am blushing from such a glowing review. This is why I love doing this business. I get to meet, entertain, host and help the greatest people on the planet. I really hope I don't have to wait another 25 years to host you two beautiful people. Thanks again Pat and Henry. It was a shear pleasure hosting you!
