Stoney Bay Beach House is a one bedroom, one bath masonry house with a 60 foot long covered gallery, located in privateer bay estates nestled on it's own private beach. The house is close to the ocean and facing directly east taking advantage of the trade winds to keep the house nice and cool, and is one of the least" buggiest" locations on St John. The house is the only one in Stony Bay, part of Privateer Bay, so the only neighbors you will be able to see will be on the BVI,s!

You will have no noise from cars, trucks, construction, dogs, roosters or people from this incredible location.

The living room/dining room has beautiful soaring 18' cypress ceilings, with comfortable upscale furniture. You can enjoy watching the sunrise over Norman Island (aka Treasure Island) and the Caribbean sea from the comfort of your pillow top bed. The gallery is very close to the water and has a hammock , lounge chairs, Adirondack chairs and a table with 4 chairs for outdoor dining. The kitchen has all the amenities including a dishwasher and front loading washer and dryer. There is a coral reef right in front of the house to Privateer Bay for endless underwater exploring.

If privacy, seclusion and nature are what your looking for this location is like no other.

Paradise

This property is incredible! Getting there was an adventure but Betsy and Bob guided us in and the property is stunning. It was extremely clean and had everything we needed. It's a little bit of paradise we're you can disconnect and relax! The house is private with its own beach and ocean side view. There was snorkel equipment and everything we needed to make a meal if we wanted to stay home. I wish I could give this property 10 stars as it's in a class all it's own. Thank you Bob for creating a small paradise and sharing it with the world. This was our first trip to the island and now we can't wait to come back!

Very private, clean, and updated home

My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon and absolutely loved it! The house was much cleaner than we had expected, with a fully functional kitchen and very nice facilities. The bedroom AC works great and is nice to get out of the humidity at night. The breeze off of the water feels great when you open all the windows and sliding glass door. You must have a 4WD jeep to get up and down this driveway. Trust me, you'll be glad you got a jeep. The house is completely private and there are only about 5 houses within a mile of this one. The only complaint we had was the property managers(who were very nice) had told us they were just up the hill from us if we needed anything or the power went out. Well the power went out on the whole island while we were in Cruz bay and we tried calling the managers but had no luck, which was a bit frustrating. Other than that it was a perfect week! If you're concerned about being too far away from the attractions, don't worry. It's only about a 45 minute drive from the ferry dock to the house and the house is within a half hour of most beaches. Make sure to visit skinny legs while you are here and check out the movie in the ruins! Saint John is an amazing place and Bob has an amazing house that is very welcoming to guests. Staying out on the east end was a great choice for us as we are sort of "anti-tourists" we were even asked if we were locals by a local at skinny legs! Don't miss out on staying in this great house and great area.

ABSOLUTELY PARADISE!!!

We totally agree as mentioned above ---- there should be a FIVE STAR PLUS-PLUS rating for this property. We just returned from spending a week at this house IN PARADISE. Thank you Bob Moseley for all that you did to create this heavenly place on earth! This house is incredible and the location epitomizes "PRIVACY." Every detail is covered - from kitchen to bath to living room to bedroom - inside & out. We could only imagine and talked at length (each time we drove in and out or walked up and down the driveway) about the amount of effort that was put into building this house in this remote location on the East End of St. John Island and --- how in the world the driveway was developed. Simply AMAZING! We started our vacation with a couples massage right at the house -- HIGHLY recommend Paradise Massage- ask for Christie and Tishanda .. it was outstanding with the ocean in the background ..we enjoyed snorkeling & swimming in front of the house on the days when the ocean was calm. We enjoyed the closeness of many other wonderful beaches (Hansen Bay, Salt Pond Bay and Brown Bay) where we snorkeled and swam and enjoyed much private time and relaxation. Miss Lucy's and Skinny Legs were favorites for a bite to eat. We loved the Lap of St. John Tour we took one day with Bryan and Margaret - who run Busy Bee Charters! Really nice folks who shared all sorts of historical information about Coral Bay and the Island and took us to four fantastic snorkeling locations (not easily accessible by anything but boat) - our favorite was Lavonga Cay and they served a delicious lunch, as well. Highly recommend this snorkeling tour when you come to St. John. The thing we enjoyed the most, though, were the times spent at this house. Sitting on the porch. Hammock time. Sitting in the chairs on the beach. Walking on the beach in front of the house - finding so many treasures, making so many memories. Just listening to the ocean and experiencing all of nature around us. We say a BIG Thank YOU to Betsy & Bob the property managers who met us at Coral Bay and escorted us in ... they were wonderful to email / talk with before we even started out trip and they provided us lots of useful information - they were so helpful after we were on the Island and at the house, too. We are so glad to have found this most relaxing and fun property and when we return to St. John, we know we will only want to rent this property to make more memories in PARADISE!

Five stars (Excellent) does not seem adequate for this house and its locale: A new VRBO category?

My wife and I returned a week ago after ten days at Bob's incredible place in early March 2017. The other reviewers did a great job at capturing the highlights, but as someone who has rented spaces in the Caribbean islands countless times in the past forty years, my context focuses on Bob's peerless attentiveness to lovely and comfortable furnishings inside and out, handsome interior architecture and paint palettes, superior quality linens and towels, and, perhaps the best-equipped kitchen I've encountered in an island rental property, right down to the six matching high-end wine glasses and a corkscrew that is far better than the one we own at home.

Once you actually experience how remote this property is, one can only wonder at the level of effort and care Bob put into this place, perched under a stone cliff overlooking nothing but the BVI's and an endless chorus of incoming waves and trade winds. This is no ordinary Caribbean rental, for certain, and when you factor in the loving extra personal touches that Bob brought to bear, I could certainly make a reasonable case that the good people at VRBO should create a new category, maybe called "Five Stars Plus" for exceptional situations like this one.

This review also needs to include the property managers who could not have been more helpful at every turn, including guiding us to Bob's house at dark on our arrival and whose friendship was part of an experience that we will never forget. We have already sent Bob a deposit for 2018!

Car: necessary

The house is located on its own private bay, Stony Bay, inside of

privateer bay. There are no neighbors in this bay so you will have it all to yourself. I can guarantee no noise from cars, trucks, construction, dogs, roosters, people etc. Its a truly amazing location.

Coral bay has everything you need and is just 13 minutes away.
