About Brianna Tallian

We are 3 professional women living in the Midwest, who have been coming to St. John for years. We finally decided that life is short, and it was time to have a place for ourselves and our families to escape the northern winters. We hope it will give you the same pleasure that it gives us.

Brianna Tallian purchased this house in 2013

Why Brianna Tallian chose Estate Mandal

This is not the resort Caribbean. This is a private spot at the end of the road. This is peace and quiet on our favorite island.

Clean, beautiful, and magical.

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a two week stay at mango in June 2018. The way mango is set-up worked perfectly for us. We would enjoy the deck every morning and evening. The extra covered deck space was fantastic!

The island is still healing from the devastating hurricanes, but is still gorgeous. Mango sits in a very quiet area away from it all! It took a few days to unwind from our busy lives, but once we did, I told my husband that I felt like I was staying in a treehouse. There was so much wildlife everywhere. We enjoyed birdwatching from the deck, catching (and releasing) hermit crabs, and watching the dive boats anchor in grootpan. Mango is absolutely delightful!

St. John is VERY much alive

  • 5 of 5

This is our third time staying at Mango - we just can't stay away from this end of the island. We were booked a long time before the hurricanes hit, so we were super nervous to see what had happened to our little island. Turns out, our fave little villa was pretty untouched. You can see that there was a lot of damage, but that part of the island was well protected - the northern side got hit hard though. They also seem to be doing a great job of clean-up. The electric, water and cell phone service all worked perfectly, and only 2 restaurants are still working on rebuilding. All of the ATMs worked and grocery stores were stocked as normal. Miss Josephine has even gotten her amazing salad greens back in stores!!!

So, enough of the logistics - on to the good stuff.

It is peaceful everywhere you go. There were never many tourists there, but now it's just amazing. Of course the bars are still hopping, but a few times we were on beaches like Lameshur and Salt Pond with ZERO other people. Side note - take the hike out to Rams Head from Salt Pond. Wow! Anyway, we just couldn't get over how cool it is to have your very own half mile of sandy beach! in the middle of the day

The best part is, of course, the people. They got hit hard by those hurricanes, but you can see how they are working to bounce back. Their resilience is amazing and it felt good to our spend money locally to help them rebuild. If you've been to St. J before, you know that the Coral Bay spirit is strong. It can be bruised, but it obviously won't be broken.

Great place for our family's visit to St. John!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed staying at Between the Beaches Mango Villa with our adult sons very much! It truly is between two beaches. They were a short walk away and we went to them repeatedly for swimming and snorkeling. I think the most people we ever saw at these two beaches was 6 people and that included 3 of our family. Frequently we were the only ones there. We were also very close to Salt bay beach and Little Lameshure which we also truly enjoyed.

The unit was very comfortable and my older son said this is exactly what our beach house would look like if we had one! We cooked there each night and enjoyed eating on the deck at the start of the week. The tail end of our week, the mosquitoes had a strong enough presence we ended up eating inside. St. John's has no springs or natural water sources so you will likely want to purchase drinking water to bring with you once you hit the island. We really enjoyed our visit to St. John and to the Virgin Island National Park. We rented a jeep for our visit and we'd recommend you do the same. Each member of our family agreed Mango Villa was a great place for us to stay on the quiet side of the island!

Amazing

  • 5 of 5

The place was amazing with beautiful views. It had a homey feeling. A great place to relax after a busy day. Our plans changed and needed to spend an extra night, Briana got back to us quickly and worked with us so we could. I appreciated all the information (food, beach info, activities, etc) she had in the house.

Best end of St John

  • 4 of 5

Way preferred this end of island. Less crowded and commercial, yet some of the best eats nearby, hikes and Salt Pond Beach was our very favorite. Although many "Holy Hairpin!" moments driving across the island, no problem and no difficulties finding parking on this end. This property is a little dated, but very spacious and very nice for the money. Views can't be beat from the deck overlooking the water. Beds comfortable and AC. (No washer/dryer if that is an issue for you-quick dry and technical clothes are what I recommend for the VI anyway, and this end of island more arid, so things dry remarkably quickly). Totally equipped, owner communicated via txt with us throughout our 4 days here whenever we had questions. I would come back and /or recommend to other budget travellers in particular. Last thing- get a VERY detailed account of how to get here; owner will furnish a great set of directions, but don't leave the directions at home like I did!!! GPS not much help here.

superb stay!

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough about Mango Villa.

It is everything and more as described here in the ad. The porch is huge and overlooks two beautiful bays and the sunset. The house is very well supplied with everything you need to cook, watch movies, listen to music or just watch the birds....

We also loved the layout of the house because we have a teenager so everyone really has their privacy.

Will definitely be returning !
