Great home. Plenty of space and privacy for big groups. Lots of beds. House in a fine area, walkable to casual locations and a quick ride to the French Quarter. Really happy with the stay.
We had a wonderful visit to New Orleans. The house is warm and inviting and able to handle large groups with ease. It was comfortable for a large group and had lots of option of place to congregate or to take a break from the crowd. Right off the street car line - convenient to so many of the great things about New Orleans. Easy to get around the city even during parades. Loved our stay!!
What a great house for a group like ours! There were 15 of us, couples and singles and the number of bedrooms and bathrooms was perfect. There was plenty of room for us all to be together, both inside and outside. WE catered in food for two events, one on Friday and one on Saturday. The central dining room could accommodate all of us. The house is huge and quirky and was just what we wanted. Christian was always very responsive to questions and addressing any issues (smoke alarm!). I highly recommend this property!
Little quirks like not all light switches working or lamps not having plugs, but it’s a historic house so was to be expected. Couldn’t figure out how to use a few tv’s either, but that’s ok. Really cool setup with a market just down the street and easy access to get around town.
This was beyond perfect for us. We were a group of 9 and it was the perfect house to be together and still have enough room to retreat when needed. Each floor has a little kitchen and living room so it really feels home. We were all able to gather easily in the main living room. I would rent this house again and again because it was that great. We came for a wedding in the garden district and we were about 7 minutes away from there which was so convenient. I can’t say enough great things.
My group enjoyed our stay at Lion's Gate Mansion. Christian is available and quick to respond. The Mansion is lovely and so comfortable. So many little spots to relax in. Even with a large group you can find a spot for privacy. Bedrooms super comfortable. Unfortunately the weather was bad so we weren't able to utilize the outdoor space but it also looked very inviting. Parking was right in front and very convenient. Easy walk to numerous restaurants and an easy Uber ride/street car ride to the French Quarter or other areas of the Garden District. Check in and check out were super easy. Special shout out to the interior decorator. So much fun artwork and such eclectic rooms to relax in. This would be my first choice if returning to New Orleans with a big group. Thanks Christian!!
Our adult kids and one grandchild totaling 10 people stayed for 5 nights. We planned afternoon day trips and family time in the evening.Spacious: There was plenty of room and the home provided lots of New Orleans nostalgia. The living and dining rooms are bigger than they appear online providing plenty of space for family games if that’s your thing.Safety: If I’m honest, when we first approached the home from the north on Jackson Avenue several of my guest were a little nervous. However, the neighborhood quickly changed on the block of the Grand Mansion. We parked cars on the street and never had issues with the local folks.Host: Christian was very responsive to our problems. He still needs to solve some dark light fixtures, but I’m confident he will.We count this trip as one of our favorites and would recommend it to others.
Friends and I stayed for 5 nights. The house is large and we had a mostly good time making ourselves at home. Location is great! There's a number of broken or missing controls for tvs, fans/lights, and doorknobs. There are mice, including one that died in the middle of the dining room floor - I assume from poison traps that are around the house. These weren't a problem for us, just not what I would call "luxurious amenities".Our problems were:- The host was not responsive to messages, voicemail or text; either not responding or taking days to respond.- I requested late checkout months ahead of time and the host agreed to and charged me for. Then he suddenly declared it was not possible and we had to leave at the 10am checkout time. - When he called, I brought up his unresponsiveness and he argued with me about whether he was unresponsive - after telling me he wouldn’t honor the late checkout time.
The house is nice but we were quite disappointed considering the price we paid. We enjoyed the front porch. The bedrooms were all different and one had hardly any lighting except for some lamps. Most of the TVs had problems, either no remote or one wouldn’t even shut off or adjust the volume at all. The only bathroom on the first floor is in the one bedroom on the ground floor so guests have to go upstairs to use the restroom. One room had a lot of dust on the ceiling. The first floor shower has very low water pressure and the hot/cold lines are reversed. The hand held shower head in one shower wouldn’t stay up. The front steps were covered with debris from the trees. We asked for a broom so that no one would slip walking up. The owner said that he would have it blown off the next day but that never happened. Some guests complained about all of the street notice but ear plugs were provided in each room. We had a nice time but were expecting more attention to details and more of a luxury experience.
I booked a Vrbo property for my 70th birthday, hosting family from across the country and overseas. The stay was a letdown. I asked about early check-in, but was charged without confirming. After five requests, my credit card company reversed the fee due to the host’s unresponsiveness. Communication via the Vrbo app was poor; the host rarely replied promptly. Upon arrival, I found termite evidence in a bedroom, which the host dismissed, claiming it appeared at night, though housekeeping left hours earlier. Dead cockroaches littered the bedroom and kitchen, and a live five-inch cockroach crawled in a bed. Flying insects covered our bedroom ceiling, and a clogged sink went unfixed. The listing promised on-site parking and a washer/dryer, but a car occupied the only parking spot, and the host denied it was an amenity. The washer/dryer was locked in a basement used by an undisclosed resident. Most alarmingly, an unannounced repairman entered at 10 p.m., instructed by the host to not inform us, checking a toilet. I wasn’t notified despite asking for clarification. This left us shaken, ruining our celebration. Dirty dishes in the dishwasher added to the mess. The host’s dismissive attitude and lack of transparency made this a stressful, unsafe experience, far from the joyful reunion I planned.
