Cosy Family Cottage. Spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean and Cliffs of Moher

Bedrooms 3
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 4 - 7 nights

About the property

Cottage, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-7)

Creig Cottage has the most spectacular views of the Aran Islands, Cliffs of Moher and Galway Bay. It is located on the Wild Atlantic Way with views for miles of this magnificent coastline.

Built on a half acre elevated site, Creig Cottage is your home for the week in the heart of the limestone Burren. This is an National Park which is known for it outstanding natural beauty as well as its unique flora and fauna. Staying here in it naturally quiet setting with a view of the ocean during the day and stars for miles at night is bound to put you at ease.

The cottage is on The Burren Walking Tour, an ideal base for walking and touring through spectacular scenery. Wild goats, badgers, foxes, birds and unique flowers can be seen on this unspoiled barren land. A fascinating area for all Botanists, Ornithologists and Geologists.

Yet we are just three miles from Doolin, which is famous for its nightly traditional music so you do not have to venture far for a lively night out. In the area also there are many fine restaurants including Michelin award restaurants, seafood places and many more.

Some of Ireland's most famous attractions are all only a short drive away - Ailwee Cave, Cliffs of Moher, Aran Islands. From Doolin you can take the ferry across to the Aran Islands or do one of the Cliffs of Moher cruises. If you wish to explore further there are attractions like Dromoland Castle, Bunratty Castle and Folk Park, Loop Head Lighthouse, and the cities of Galway and Limerick. It is also easy to take a day trip to Connemara, Kerry, or Ashford Castle from this location.

As we are located on the coast we are near beautiful `Blue Flag` sandy beaches of Fanore and Lahinch. Fanore is a less visited beach with things like Surfing and horse riding available to do there. Lahinch is a busy seaside town with amenities such as a swimming pool, playground and championship golf course.

Lisdoonvarna, or the "spa town", is ten minutes from the house and is noted for its sulphur water, and for its `match making festival` in September.

Miltown-Malbay hosts the Willie Clancy summer school every July, learn to play a traditional instrument or Irish set-dancing.

Golf Information; A championship world famous golf course of Lahinch is just 20 minutes drive. There is also Doonbeg, Dromoland Castle and Ballybunion all within a 2 hour drive.

Why Patricia chose Lisdoonvarna

We built Creig Cottage in the year of 2000. It is located on my family farm which was great to use as a holiday home when visiting family.

What makes this cottage unique

Creig Cottage is unique in its setting as it is off the main road with no other houses overlooking the place. Looking out of the windows is an ever changing picture, in fact I would say that it is Ireland as it should be viewed, overlooking the Atlantic ocean and unspoiled.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Creig Cottage is my favourite place in the planet; Unique, magical and hauntingly beautiful.

The minute I saw the spectacular setting and entered the front door

of Creig Cottage I knew we had a "more than perfect place" for our

week's stay in Doolin. The cottage is fairly new, beautifully built, artistically and practically decorated, has incredible views, and is so

very comfortable also.

From the sunroom you have a wonderful panoramic view of the

ocean below and the rock walls, wildflowers, and picturesque

landscape leading to it. You can also see the Cliffs of Moher and

Galway Bay in the distance. There are great walking trails all

around which we enjoyed a lot.

The kitchen is very nice and spacious, and is supplied

with everything one could possibly need. It also has a great view!

The bedrooms and bathrooms are equally nice. I plan to return

to Doolin and Creig cottage as soon as possible.

Patricia and Laura are very hospitable and helpful too!

The property was simply beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

We loved this cottage so much that we didn't want to leave. Everything was so clean, and Laura set out a nice basket of goodies for us on the kitchen table upon our arrival. She also was very helpful in telling us about interesting things to do in the area which we appreciated! The views from this cottage are spectacular! The power of the natural landscape seeps into you while staying at this charming little place overlooking the Atlantic right on the edge of the Burren. You can see a ring fort out of one of the windows very close to the cottage, the Cliffs of Moher, and the Aran islands and more! Everything we needed was there, and this cozy little place will be a place we will come back to someday...soon we hope! Simply the best!

Another five star review.

If this listing looks too good to be true, I can say it's even better. The view is stunning in every direction. The house is comfortable and clean and esy to keep that way. The living and sleeping spaces are separate enough to accomodate night owls and early risers. The location feels remote and isolated ( the road is closed to cars just passed the cottage and becomes a green road) but a short drive will take you where you want to be. If you're ready to let Ireland take you, right down to the bones, it can happen here.

A wonderful vacation destination!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this beautiful home for 10 days------ and felt at home from day one. The home and surrounding landscape are more beautiful than the pictures on-line. Martin and Tricia are so easy to work with. They gave us some wonderful ideas on what to see and how to get around Ireland. The welcome basket of breakfast food was much appreciated after a long day of traveling. From this home we were able to travel to Galway, Dublin, and as far as Kinsale. We loved the area and views right from the home. Looking out on the Cliffs of Moher and Aran Islands, walking around the area with the ocean, animals and greenry, the pubs in Doolin each night with great food and traditional Irish music, all made for a wonderful vacation destination. Can't wait to return to Ireland and Creig's Cottage one day!

An invigorating experience

We had a wonderful month at Craig Cottage. The wild flowers and nature were beautiful. It was cold but we were protected by the central heating, fire and electric blankets! Amazing views watching the weather coming in over the Atlantic.

In the immediate location there is pony trekking, mountain biking, kayaking, caving and walks/treks. If you go a little further afield you will find abseiling, surfing, dolphin watching, golfing, fishing and all sorts of activities to keep everyone entertained.

Specific things that we think are a must-do in this area are visiting the cliffs of moher and the burren to see the dolmen. We are located in the Burren National Park so you will get to see it in all of its beauty.

Doolin is known for it traditional music scene in Ireland and is definitely worth a night out to experience all that the pubs have to offer.
