Welcome to your farmhouse away from home. Once settled in after your seamless self check in you can enjoy everything the home has to offer. From two fireplaces (fall / winter only), Smart TV’s in each room to the complimentary snacks and coffee bar in the kitchen, Dandy Times has it all. These amenities make Dandy Times perfect for extended stays. Ask about our discounts! You can enjoy a country sunrise from the rocking chair on the front porch while drinking your coffee or end the evening with a sunset while grilling out or sitting with friends around the Solo Stove Fire Pit on the back patio. Every room is tastefully furnished and stocked for your comfortable stay. You will find additional bedding, pillows and towels along with a free use commercial washer and dryer. The laundry room has an outside entrance perfect to use as the ‘mud room’ if necessary. Dandy Times offers a blacktop driveway with turnaround and a two car garage for your use. The driveway area is monitored with 24-hour video for your safety and security. The garage is well lit and offers electric outlets to charge your boat batteries after a long day fishing on Barren River Lake. We are conveniently adjacent to a private and well maintained boat / RV storage facility. Please let us know if you will be needing storage while visiting and we can assist you by checking for availability. The entire property is well lit for your safety and comfort with additional lighting near the backyard patio ideal for the evening corn hole game while waiting for your meal to come off the grill.

Dandy Times is situated in Barren County’s relaxing countryside. It is located in a rural farming community amid the rolling hills of the Austin community in Lucas, Kentucky. You’ll be less than three minutes from Barren River Lake State Park, minutes from Mammoth Cave National Park as well as the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Great Place

Attended a conference at Barren River Resort State Park nearby. The lodge was sold out, so we needed a place nearby. We were lucky to find Dandy TImes, which is less than two miles from the State Park. The place was exceptionally clean, neat and tidy and everything was in perfect working order. Getting in the house when we arrived was a snap, due to great instructions from the owner. Communications were friendly, accurate and easy. I'd definitely stay there again!

Dandy time at Dandy Times

This is our second time staying at Dandy Times. It was just as enjoyable as the first. The house is extremely nice and the property is a little off the beaten path, which is great making it nice and quiet. The host is very flexible and will do anything to make your stay more enjoyable. I can't thank them enough. We'll be back.

Great stay!

We loved our stay at Dandy Times! The beds were comfy and the house was super cozy. We cooked dinner there one night and it was nice having all the utensils and cookware needed to make it happen. The grill was easy to use and worked well. We would happily stay here again down the road.

Great Times

This was just the place for us to kick back and relax. The kitchen is great for preparing meals and fully equipped. We spent a lot of time out on the porches. Star gazing is awesome. Brett was a great host and stayed in touch with any of our needs. So close to the lake. If you like catfish, must go to Harper’s catfish in Scottsville. For cheese a visit to Kenny’s Farmhouse Cheese.

Wonderful Time At Barren River

This was my first time in the area and I will definitely be back! Brett was Fantastic with communication and information All the locals were very warm and inviting The area very beautiful and the state park was probably one of the nicest I’ve ever been too I’ll be back for sure Thanks again Brett

Felt like home!

We were so pleased with our stay at Dandy Times! Brett was in touch with us from our booking until we checked in, making sure we had everything we needed. The house was so well stocked with plenty of towels, dishes, even laundry pods (which was a life saver with messy little children). The house felt very secluded, but very safe with motion lights in the backyard. The garage was a nice amenity, and we were thrilled to find yard games and complimentary firewood. Overall, we were extremely satisfied with the house and the hosts!

Clean comfortable place to stay

The house was extremely clean upon our arrival. It was a comfortable temperature. We were close to Mammoth Caves and the Kentucky Down Under zoo. The host even contacted us to see if we needed anything while we were there. I would recommend staying here for anybody looking for a quiet, clean place to stay.

Above and beyond

Brett was amazing throughout our stay. There was a weather related issues during our stay and he reached out to ensure our safety. The house was perfect and then some. It was perfectly situated between everything we wanted to do, and was beautifully decorated and comfortable. It was peaceful to sit outside and enjoy our morning coffee. Host also went above and beyound to think of family activities offering several inside and outside games.The house was also very quiet and restful with super comfy beds. We highly recommend this house. If we come back to the area, this will be where we stay. This was the best home away from home for us.

Private, Quiet & Comfortable

Our stay was perfect. The host had thought of everything from leaving snacks (which was well received after a 7 hour drive) to a personalized welcome note. It was well decorated and super comfortable. We visit Lucas ever year for an event at Barren River State Park (which is right down the road) So we will definitely be back!! Highly recommend!

The house was decorated so nicely, the landscaping was beautiful. The house was so spacious, so open and comfortable. It was close to a happening catfish place which was so good, the service was great.

Dandy Times - excellent stay

A nice place and our stay was great. Dandy Times was as described and very convenient as we were in town for a yearly bass tournament. The garages were nice for being able to store the boat indoors. However the end garage is too short to accommodate a 250 Pro XS or pole poles. The location seemed to be very secure. The house itself was very clean, well kept and equipped. The host was more than helpful in making our stay enjoyable and complete. In order to make the feedback complete, if there was one item that would make Dandy Times even better it would be the addition of a half bath. Many thanks, you have a great place!

Retreat in the Country

Dandy Times was an incredible place to stay. The house was perfectly cozy for our family of 6, and the hosts thought of every detail in making their farmhouse feel like home. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to prepare meals for our family. The beds were very comfortable, and it was great having a full sized washer and dryer. We enjoyed a fire in the solo stove and swinging on the front porch. This is a great place to stay, and the hosts made every effort to welcome us and make sure we were comfortable. We hope to stay there again in the future.

Peaceful Relaxation

Property and home were well maintained. The decor and furnishings made you feel nice and cozy. The games and books were a plus. We had some quality time there with some of our family and enjoyed Barren River Lake State Park. A lot of info given by owners about things to do and see and places to eat. Very accommodating couple.

Great family getaway!

Dandy times is an excellent getaway destination! The house was spotless, welcoming, and well decorated! Brett was super attentive and great to work with! The extra touches of snacks, water, access to the garage were added benefits! Would definitely stay at the property again!

No Better Host

The house is great, just what we needed and you can not ask for better communication from a host. There was bad weather in the area and Brett was kind enough to tell our crew where they could go if they needed to seek shelter. That may not mean much to anyone else, but it sure meant a lot to me. Thank you, Brett, we will be back to see you when we are in the area again.

Best Farmhouse Around

This cute farmhouse absolutely had everything one could ever imagine! The kitchen was fully stocked with just what you have in your own kitchen! Special added touches everywhere, from beautiful throw pillows, lots of lap blankets, to make-up remover wash cloths. A very cozy and inviting home. We will be returning for another weekend getaway. We enjoyed watching the sunrise in the rockers, on the front porch! Thank you for making our time away feel just like being at home! Everything about our experience was FIVE STAR!!!!

Wonderful getaway.

Out of the way, quiet and relaxing place to hang out with the family. What a wonderful place away from everything. The hosts welcomed us with a personalized note, snacks, firewood, games and more. The place was clean and kids had a great time making s'mores out back after a long day walking the caves. Everything was beyond our expectations. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you.

Summer weekend getaway

From the beginning the host was very attentive and answered all questions we had upon arrival. The host had snacks and cookies to welcome us along with a very clean house and gorgeous property. We played cornhole, had a fire with s’mores and played lots of board games and card games. The host left lots of food suggestions that were very helpful! The host also stayed in contact during the trip making sure everything was going well. We had an amazing time and highly recommend dandy times! Already wanting to plan our trip back!

Family visit

Was a great stay. Got to see grandkids that we haven’t gotten to see very much until now. They loved playing in the yard. Just really enjoyed time with them. Loving them. Can’t wait to come back.
