We had a wonderful stay. The house was clean and stocked with everything we needed. The house is very convenient to downtown, restaurants, groceries and the freeway. I would stay here again.

Quiet and Cozy

The house was super cute and cozy. It was in a quiet neighborhood and was close to the Starved Rock Park. We really enjoyed the back deck area. Great place to stay!

Super cozy, has everything you need

I had a fantastic weekend in the cottage with my family. It was perfect because we have a few dogs and the yard was fenced in & private. Very clean and well thought out property. I really enjoyed it stay and would stay here again for sure!

This was an amazing property. It was just as pictured. The host was very laid back. Check in and check out process ws very simple. The kitchen was very well supplied with everything you would need. Very happy with our experience and will probably rent again next year for our event.

Hiking at Matthiessen State Park

This place was perfectly represented! Our three small dogs loved the fenced in yard. Plenty of room and everything you need-just like home. Visited Matthiessen State Park which was only a few minutes away. The host responded within minutes- hope to be back soon!!

Quiet Getaway

Love this place! I came here to finish writing a book and I was able to do just that. Close enough to Starved Rock, where I went hiking with my dogs every morning. Great coffee and food. Maria's Cafe is a must! Looking forward to staying here again!

Fall Break

Very nice stay for our kids fall break. The fenced yard was great for our dog. The neighborhood felt safe. We didn't automatically receive check in info but our host was extremely prompt and responsive to help us get in.

Starved Rock fall getaway

We really enjoyed Starved Rock State Park. Fall colors were beautiful and great hiking. The canyons were not what you expect in Illinois. Ottawa is a cute town that is convenient to other attractions. Heads up many of the restaurants are closed on Sundays and Mondays.

Perfect Location and Very Cozy Home

This was a very nice home, and recently updated. I will defenately go back. It was nice that the yard was fenced in for the dogs. I highly recommend staying here. You will not be disappointed. Alot of good restaurants within a five minute drive.

The location was great with the trail heads in 3 state parks and a nature preserve each just a 15 minute drive away. The house was also close to supermarkets and the downtown, which had many restaurants and lots of free parking. The owner, Emilia, was quick to respond to our email and straighten out a minor glitch with the check in. The beds were super comfortable and very much appreciated after a day of hiking. The house had good WiFi, easy off street parking, was very well equipped, and clearly quite dog friendly although we didn't bring ours along.

Beautiful place!

This cozy house was immaculate, the decor was very grounding and zen feeling. Emilia was very responsive, even to my questions before booking. The backyard was lovely and had great ambience with the lighting. Emilia has thought of everything one could need for a stay, and the thoughtfulness put into every detail shows. We could not have asked for a better stay!

The perfect spot

We had visited the Starved Rock area previously. This was our first time in Ottawa, the town was friendly with great restaurants and lots of activity. The property was: clean, updated, great location, and had a responsive owner. The owner also had thought of every detail of our stay. The yard was perfect for our dog and the patio was perfect for chilling out. A 10/10 experience and would stay there again.

Weekend away with family and pups

The stay was better than expected. The house is clean, spacious and well decorated. It comes with everything one needs to feel right at home. We had so much fun, and more importantly, were able to relax and unwind, that my youngest child cried when it was time to head home. The host is very responsive and accommodating. We will be staying here again during our next visit to the area.

Lovely Stay for Humans and Pups

We had a fantastic stay at the home! The house was exactly as described with a lovely back yard for our pups. It was well-equipped with everything we needed for a relaxing vacation. The location was perfect - close to Starved Rock and Matthiessen State Park. But what truly made the stay exceptional was the host. They were incredibly communicative and responsive to all our questions before our stay. We reached out to see if we could bring a small dog pool for the back yard and she responded promptly and clearly. We felt very well taken care of. We highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a comfortable and relaxing stay.

Lovely Property!

This house is adorable! Super cute decor, perfect size for a family of 5 plus our dog! I absolutely love that it is pet-friendly and has a fenced in yard. It's a great location, just minutes from downtown. Only 15 minutes to Starved Rock. The street is quiet, so you can actually enjoy the space. Best of all, Emilia was SUPER responsive! She messaged to let us know we could check in a little early. I messaged her with a question and she responded within minutes. We will definitely stay here again when we come back to hike. This was the ideal stay for three old(ish) friends who love to hike, eat good food, and sit around and retell the lore of yesteryear. The house was perfect. Everything we needed was available. The neighborhood is quiet. The location is convenient: every place we needed to travel to was less than 20 minutes away. To be specific, our goal was to visit Starved Rock State Park [10 miles of hiking while there], visit Matthiessen State Park [10 miles of hiking while there], and we were able to get in a short walk at the Buffalo Rock State Park. We did visit The Lone Buffalo / Tangled Roots Brewing a couple of times, too. We also cooked a few meals in the house - the cookware in the home is very good. I like to travel with my trusty cast-iron skillet because, well, you just never know. Everything I needed was already available and in very good condition. If you are reading this review to help determine whether or not you'd like to book this house for a stay . . . trust me, you will not regret it. Book it!

Why they chose this property

I first came to Ottawa, just technically passed by it when I was young and freshly married. We loved traveling and every free time we had, we spent doing that. Especially through villages, a little towns places that are not so popular for visitors. I really fell in love with this little town and it’s essence. About eight years ago when I gave birth to my son, we took a trip down south and stop by a park by the water. Little did we know, we found ourselves in Ottawa again! When I begin my journey And in Airbnb, I was looking for a home that was affordable in the place that would cut captivate people that would visit. And I found my little slice of Haven.

What makes this property unique

This property was certainly meant for me to own. The moment I stepped foot in this empty home, I knew this was the place I wanted My dreams to begin. I have put so much love into creating a beautiful, safe, comfortable and peaceful place. I knew I wanted to create space for people seeking relaxation, and peace away from the busy lives and bigger cities. I want for people to be able to bring their animals with them no matter what kind in all honesty and enjoy time together away from home.
Although my home is not a total entertainment place, I feel that I brought something different than What’s around, I created a simple laid-back peaceful place for everyone to enjoy. That is why I chose the name Hozho,- it means in Native American tranquility and peace.

Before I had put full privacy gate, I had a temporary see-through half a gate. I had animals come visit the backyard, not only birds, rabbits, squirrels, but also deer! I loved every minute of it, and I loved seeing the deer being so comfortable. The deer was laying And relaxing. That was my confirmation for everything I’ve done to this place. I really hope everyone gets to enjoy it.
