Wonderful House

This house is beautiful. Our extended family of 9 stayed there for 6 days and it suited us perfectly. The pool is well-maintained and the property manager was very attentive.

Huge place great for families

We had a great time, the house is extremely cool due to the fact that it sits on top of a little hill and the breeze takes care of bugs and heat, the space is adequate for large groups due to the fact that it's two houses in one with two separate kitchens. The host is very attentive and helpful and she waited for us to arrive at the house, we defenetly recommend this place

Adequate accommodation

Nice pool, great view, house could use some repairs and updates. There is no oven and the charcoal barbecue doesn’t work too well with a large group of people like ours(we were 5 couples). We give it a 6 out of 10

Dear Anonymous, thank you for your review and sorry to hear our house was not up to your standards. It suprised me that you say we do not have an oven. We do have a brand new combination micro wave/oven. Maybe you missed it? We plan to install a second build in oven as well, but have not been able to do so yet. The BBQ is a subject of taste unfortunately. Our previous BBQ was considered too big by some of our customers, and they preferred coal versus electrical, so we changed it recently. Excellent luxuous big house, ideal for children

We stayed for 3 weeks in this house, we were satisfied with everything. The bedrooms were nice and clean, the kitchen is big and complete (even 2 kitchens). Nice big swimmingpool, that was cleaned a few times in a week. The living room and the veranda was big and if we opened all the windows, the wind of the see was pleasant. Also a secure feeling is that the house was in a secured area. We fully recommend this accomodation. Contact with the management was excellent.

Heerlijk verblijf gehad, met mooi uitzicht en veel ruimte. Lekker apart zwembad en groot terras buiten, met vrij uitzicht.

Seaview house with excellent pool

The kitchen is big. It leaks an oven unfortunaly. There is a lot of space inside and outside the house. We loved the pool. The pool is big and there is enough shade to sit in. We were here with 8 adults. Three bathrooms is enough. We always had our breakfast and dinner outside on the veranda with seaview. Love to sit outside. We recommend this house to stay. You need a car. There is no shop on walking distance. Ther is no beach at Jan Sofat. For most beaches you have to pay. The beach on Little Curacao is very nice. There are a lot of stairs in the house. It is not a house for disabled people and for little children. You need to can walk on stairs.

Dear guest, thank you for your kind words. Thank you f or your reccomendation. You are absolutely right about the house not being suitable for disabled people due to the fact that the two living levels and the intermediate swimmingpool level are connected with stairs. All acces to stairs (but one) can however be closed off for todlers, especially the pool acces. We do have a combination microwave /oven, but a truely big oven would make sense in this house. Super leuk huis met genoeg ruimte

We zijn 2 weken met 8 personen in het huis geweest. Lekker ruim op elke slaapkamer een airco. Huis mag hier en daar wel wat worden geupdate, maar voldoet aan de verwachtingen en is precies zoals beschreven in de omschrijving. Zwembad is top en word meerdere malen per week schoongemaakt door de poolboy.

Comfortable, well-furnished house suited for a large family

The house is bright, well taken care of (clean, with a helpful caretaker and a well-stocked kitchen) and has good communal space, including a lovely porch with a large dining table. When the doors are open, it's very breezy and comfortable. There are no screens on any of the doors, however, so at night you need to use the AC, which we would rather not have done. We also had one member of our party who had difficulty navigating stairs: this is not a good property for such people. The pool is very good. Aside from the stairs and AC, the house was perfect for our family reunion. The location is mixed. It's very safe - in the middle of a gated community - but the cost of that is that one needs to drive everywhere. No beaches to walk to, and there's no good place to go running from the house. But things are a short drive away: there's good windsurfing within 10 minutes, for instance, and when the traffic is OK, it takes just 15 or 20 minutes to get to the center of town.

Hi Sam. Thank you for your kind words. You are abolutely right about the stairs and screens. I am sorry you missed the information about the stairs; we mention on vrbo that the house is not suitable for wheelchairs due to stairs. I hope this did not inconvenience your friend too much. The lack of screens were a choice for safetysake. No easy entrance at night for uninvited guests. But I will list it on our todo list as there might be more people who would like that. Curacao is a location where you need a car to go anywhere except when you choose to stay at jan thiel where you have all facilities in walking distance, so yes you need a car for our property. The upside of living here is the peace and quiet of the neighbourhood and large private pool. Having said that I am happy you chose to stay with us and that our house facilitated your family reunion to your liking. Thanks again! Yvonne and Koen

Extremely comfortable, homey villa with gorgeous view of Spanish bay

This is a lovely, spacious villa in a private, safe neighborhood. Our favorite thing was having morning coffee on the outside deck as we looked at the hills and bay, and enjoyed watching the iguanas and green parrots. We also enjoyed the occasional morning or evening swim in the very good size swimming pool. The kitchen was set up well, although would have been nice if there was an oven. Bathrooms were nice and bedrooms' size were good. The only thing I would change would be the beds, as they were not the most comfortable and small (single beds for grown adults does not permit for adequate sleeping). One other thing is that the caretakers were not responsive to helping us figure out some minor issues, like getting television to work, but figured it out. This villa is perfectly situated . It's less than an hour from airport and say 30 minutes from williamstadt. Curacao is a large island so car rental a must if you want to explore and hit the variet of beautiful beaches on the island (car rental prices are reasonable but be prepared for up to $1000 security hold on your credit card until check out☹️). We went to 9 different beaches, all beautiful but lots more we would have liked to seen. A five minute drive down to Jan thiel is lovely but busy beach that's worth checking out. Also in Jan thiel is a fairly well stocked grocery store that even has fresh squeezed orange juice! While groceries are pricier than in the states, it's cheaper than eating out (somewhat expensive even at casual dining places). I will say the Italian restaurant just down the road was very good and not expensive. Also in Jan thiel is a nice gym, very modern, if your looking to exercise. Lastly taking one trip into williamstadt to take in the history, little shopping (anything you want) and its unique feel a must! Also check the curaçao liqueur company for a history lesson, to see how it's made and a nice gift shop is a lot of fun! I absolutely love curaçao and this villa. Of all the islands I've visited in the Carribean, it is now my favorite. If you love beaches and beautiful Carribean water than there's non better. I also like the fact that not heavily visited by other Americans, the people are very friendly and there's so much to see and do. We had 10 beautiful days here, oh yeah weather great and warm and bringing xtra sunscreen a good idea,and I did not want to leave! I would retire here if I could. As I write

Thank you for your kind words! Sorry you missed the oven, the microwave is actually a combined microwave, thus an oven too! I will talk to the caretaker about the TV, there should be an instruction set available near the TV. I will make sure it is replaced. About the beds; We bought hotel quality beds, however only one kingsize bed and the rest are indeed all single beds. We figured that would best suit all the different types of guest we have. I do see your point! However, good to hear you had a great time and thank you for your mail in which you indicated you would like to book again. We look forward to having you visit us again!

Beautiful villa and amazing view

Our family of 12 fit comfortable In the house. Pictures on the website don't capture the full beauty of the place. Pool was big and well kept. The care taker was very attentive and responsive to our requests. All in all we were all very happy with the villa. Would definetely recommend it to family and friends. The owner yvonne was also very nice and gave us great tips about places and things to do on the island.

Wonderful and relaxing holidays

We liked the place, the views, specially the views. It was great to sit down in the terrace al everything hour of the day.The swimming pool is real y big and we found everything we needed in the kitchen. We had a wonderful time.thanks

Best holiday ever!

This place was a perfect gettaway for our busy life in Holland. It has a beautiful view and we spend a lot of time to enjoy that! Very nice and big swimming pool and plenty of space. No comments and the next time we will rent the same house!

a wonderful time

we stayed for 10 days in this Villa. Every morning breakfast with a great view, then a morning swim in the poole! every day we went for sightseeing, a swim with dolphins (!), beautiful beaches to relax en a lot of good restaurants. we especially enjoyed the villa because there is a lot of space, fully equiped kitchen, large bedrooms and feels like home. Jan Sofat is a safe part of Curacao, feels good! Shopping facilities nearby. In the evenings, restaurant or bbq at the poole. for us, this holiday was super!

Curacao Vacation Home

Ten great days enjoying. The house is excellent for vacationing. It combines a large, open family room and roofed deck, making a great place for meals, games, and relaxing with a great view. The pool was a wonderful way to spend some down time between excursions around the island. The home had everything we needed and made our vacation easy and restful. Really appreciated the before and after communications with the management company and the owners. No surprises and very easy.

Very nice place, perfect for a relaxed stay

The villa is an early establishment in the Jan Sofat gated community above the Spanish Waters. It is located on a hilltop, so you have a nice view over the bay and the mountains at the West coast. The house has a lot of space, a large terrace and a big pool. Willemstad downtown is a 10-15 min drive, you will need a rented car (good rates at Alamo/National via internet). The place is perfect for a relaxed family vacation, if you do not intend to go out all the time since it provides a very nice setting. Solar electricity cuts power costs for air conditioning massively, you save considerably of these additional costs charged seperately in Curacao. The villa is well maintained, housekeeping service is very good. Fully equipped kitchen, several nice places in short driving distance (Jan Thiel resort, Mambo beach), good supermarkets (Dutch in Jan Thiel across Livingstone Resort, large selection with good quality in Vreugdenhil, economic family supply at Good Buy after the roundabout at Caracasbaaiweg). In walking distance, there is a sailing boat rental for the Spanish Waters (Pro Sail @ Boathouse restaurant). I recommend a visit to Canoa beach at the East coast, and to go out for dining in the Santa Rosa area, less touristic but good food. Ask locals for recommendations.

Spacious, comfortable villa with a large pool

We spent eight days on the island and we loved coming back to the villa after a long day. We're two adults and three kids and the villa was great for us. Some days we lingered on the open veranda for a long breakfast -- the breeze is pleasant and the views of the marina are great. We did not have to use air conditioning, the breeze through the house was perfect; there are also ceiling fans that kept us comfortable. Even though we spent most days snorkeling, we still loved to take a dip in the large pool after we returned to the villa in the evening, or to refresh ourselves in the morning. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook dinner or make breakfast. Good supermarkets are nearby. We had no trouble getting to downtown by car, or to the northern part of the island to Lagun and other beautiful beaches. The house has fast WiFi, which we used to look up directions or call various places on the island via Skype. The property manager was very welcoming, helpful and professional; we called him a couple times with questions and he responded right away. Regarding places nearby -- we went to the ostrich farm (something like 15 min away), for the tour and later for dinner later that night, which was great. We also snorkeled the Tugboat, 10 minutes away. Most other days we drove through Willemstad to the northern side of the island to pristine beaches there. Overall, we highly recommend the place.

Excellent Stay!

My husband and I stayed at the villa with our 19 month old toddler for a little over a week. We had a wonderful visit and hope we can return someday! The villa was more than enough room for the three of us, and later in the week, when my aunt and uncle joined us for a couple of days, we STILL had enough room (they slept downstairs and really had their own apartment for themselves). Both kitchens were well stocked with supplies (plates, glasses, pots, pans, etc). The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of towels (just bring soap/shampoo). The pool was terrific-- very clean and large for a private pool. There was A/C in all the bedrooms (a little tricky to work, but we figured it out), but no A/C in the living room/kitchen (but ceiling fans). It was a little hot in the afternoon/evening, because of this. But it cooled down with the breezes (though there are mosquitoes--not just here but everywhere on the island). Jan Sofat is located in an excellent part of the island-- about 10-15 min drive from Willemsted and maybe 30-45 min drive to Westpunt (where the excellent beaches are). A decent, safe neighborhood. Sum total: An amazing vacation. The pictures not only do justice to the place-- the villa is even BETTER than the pictures! We can't wait to come back.

Your comments that the villa looks better than its pictures is something we hear on a very regular basis, I have the same feeling myself( but I am not objective, I love this house), and even with a professional photographer I cant get the space and feel of the villa on photo. Fully luxery equipt villa with a stunning view

We had a wonderful stay togehter with friends. The house is great, but with friends and still have enough privacy is extra fine. The house can fit 10 people without a problem and still have enough room for some privacy. The house is luxery equipt and the beds are also very good . The location is good, the view stunning. Nice pool ! We look forward to visit again.
