Tranquil Setting for Wonderful Holiday

Bedrooms 4
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms, 1 bathroom 3 en-suites, (Sleeps 8)

This house stands on 1 acre of lawn dotted with trees and shrubs. There is a wonderful little stream running at the end of the back garden - the ideal place to spend some 'quiet time' under the large over-hanging trees and listen to the stream. We have installed a bench and table on the river-side deck, for ease of reading the daily newspaper, an interesting book or just having a cup of coffee.

The house is within easy walking distance of the village where there is a number of small restaurants, one hotel and some pubs, where, on occasion, during the season, there are Irish music sessions.

There is a wonderful extensive playground in the village park for children, also an exercise area for the 'not so young'! The park, known as Inis Cealtra, has a wonderful maze which is fun for everyone, and very informative.

The marina is overlooked by the park and easily accessible and local boats and operators are available for exploring the beautiful lake. There is also a safe sandy area next to the marina for swimming.

Lough Derg is one of the largest lakes in Ireland - famous for it's May Fly fishing and, for those eager fishermen and fisherwomen there are boats for hire in the marina.

The oldest monastic settlement in Ireland, on Holy Island, is a short 10 min. boat ride away and well worth a visit. For those who do not favour getting there themselves there are regular boat trips available from the marina which is a short distance from the house.

Mountshannon is home, quite famously, to the White Tailed Eagle. With luck the birds can be viewed from the specially constructed 'hide'. Something to be seen in Mountshannon only.

Within 15 min drive you have East Clare Golf Club, ideal for golfing enthusiasts, and for the less enthusiastic there is fun to be had at the 9-hole pitch and put course which is even closer to the village.

The house is newly built, very comfortable, large rooms, well lit inside and out, and has 'wrap-around' deck to enjoy outdoor living.

Wildlife abounds in the fields surrounding the house and gardens, we have had visits from some deer lately, have spied hawks and many other species of the feathered kind, not to mention the odd rabbit or hedgehog. None of the above can be guaranteed, however, they have been seen!!

This is an ideal base for touring the South West of Ireland, 60 mins will get you to Galway, or to the sandy beaches of Lahinch,Spanish Point and many more. Limerick city is approx. 40 mins and the journey takes you through the charming towns of Killaloe and Ballina, well worth a visit. I could wax lyrical on all that is to be seen but the best way is to come and see for

Co Clare has approx 100 miles of coast, part of the wonderful Wild Atlantic Way. It is just in excess of an hour's drive from Mountshannon.

The house is approx. 45 mins. from Shannon Airport and there are several flights to and from London daily from Shannon.

There are also several flights direct from the Shannon and, if you are beginning to organise your vacation and have not yet booked your travel arrangements we would recommend flying to Shannon Airport, life is much slower there than the hectic pace in Dublin yet it has all the amenities you could wish for.

This is an ideal destination for anyone seeking to avoid the hustle and bustle of the busier Irish resorts and escape to a more secluded region where tradition and warm hospitality are a way of life.

We look forward to having you visit, if that is your wish.

About The Owner

We are a retired couple who enjoy travelling, gardening and keeping our properties in good shape.

Why The Owner chose Mountshannon

We actually built this property because of the location, it is just 500 yds off the main road yet, when in the house or gardens one feels 'away from it all'! There is a wonderful little stream running at the bottom of the garden with large trees overhanging it, the perfect place to sit and enjoy a peaceful relaxing time.

What makes this house unique

Again, we relax completely when in our property in Mountshannon - it is the ideal get-away from it all place.

Easy and Comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We had a great first visit to Ireland. My family of 5 stayed here and we very much enjoyed the house and were very comfortable with extra beds available. The house is spacious and stocked with everything you would need for your stay. Surroundings are quiet and peaceful and easy to unwind after a day of touring. Sean and Louise were very kind and attentive to our needs and went out of their way to accommodate our travel plans and itinerary. We had a car and although we did not know the area, we were within driving distance of many wonderful places to visit. We were able to visit Bunratty Castle, the Cliffs of Moher (a must see at sunset), and spend a wonderful day visiting Killarney and its wonderful views and sites. Visiting Killarney was a special treat facilitated by Sean and Louise and undoubtedly one of the best of our days in Ireland. You can take a train into Dublin for sites as well as there is so much too see and enjoy historic buildings, churches, museums, and places to eat. Wonderful places to visit, and this house is a great place to stay during your visit. Thank you again for a lovely time! Best, Stephen, Racheal, Marianna, Gabriella and Christian.

Relaxing country style home.

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful three weeks in the home. Everything we needed and my boys could easily walk to town from the house. Clean and had plenty of room for our party of 7. Calm relaxing area, drove over 3000 km during our trip as so much to see and we barely left Clare. Love this area.

15 jours dans le Comté de Clare

  • 5 of 5

Nadi

Jewel in the Crown!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in Pine Ridge twice. Firstly for two weeks in 2015 and returning in 2016 for two months as we enjoyed it so much

The house is large and roomy for larger families or just a couple like us. We brought our family over from the UK for the weekend it was extremely comfortable for as all. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could wish for. Pine Ridge is really a home from home. The garden is large and delightful with a patio for outside dining and sun loungers for relaxing. A lovely area at the bottom of the property overlooks the brook which runs into the lough, great for a Guinness or a glass of wine. If the weather is inclement the cosy lounge has a great wood burning stove.

Within walking distance of three pubs a bistro and the local hotel Mountshannon is set in beautiful countryside with plenty of interesting places to visit. Dont miss the daily boat trips to St Patrick's Purgatory an ancient pilgrims site on Station Island in Lough Derg. There is a beautiful walk from the house to Lough Derg for that leasurley evening stroll.

The jewel in the crown is the owner's Louise and Shaun who are warm and lovely people. They could not be more helpful and were the perfect hosts.

We have rented a number of properties in the West of Ireland and this is without doubt the best.

Heaven on Earth!

  • 5 of 5

Our group of four arrived looking forward to a couple of weeks in Ireland free from stress, phones, doorbells and people's problems. Indeed, Sean and Louise provided us with a beautiful "home" away from home and we enjoyed their hospitable presence. I will never forget our experience in Ireland and our respite in their beautiful home. I highly recommend this vacation rental for those who need to get away for a good quiet rest and a desire to drive to sights on their own.

Perfection in Mountshannon!

  • 5 of 5

Pine Ridge is a very comfortable, well equipped house in a spectacular setting. It had everything we needed and more, with plenty of comfortable bedding, towels, household sundries such as laundry detergent, and even some breakfast staples and treats. In fact, when we arrived exhausted and hungry after our long flight, Sean and Louise were there to greet us and immediately set about cooking us a lovely breakfast (not part of the standard service, I'm sure)! We sat and visited with them for well over an hour, getting their input on sights to see in the area and were highly entertained with Sean's stories. When we told them of some difficulty with our rental car, Sean took it for a drive, decided it wasn't right, and called the rental agency to arrange for a replacement car. Over the course of our stay, we bothered the Corcorans with a few other health-related issues, and they were always cheerful and exceedingly helpful. Louise even got on the phone late one night to make a doctor's appointment for us! To say that they went above and beyond is an understatement, and judging by other reviews, they make it a habit to treat all of their guests like family. If our stay at Pine Ridge had not included any interaction with the hosts themselves, we would have been more than satisfied with the lovely accommodations, but meeting Sean and Louise (and some of their family members) was a true highlight of our trip. We would recommend this beautiful house to anyone visiting the area and would give it many more stars if we could! Thank you Sean and Louise for your kindness and for making our first trip to Ireland positively perfect! xo
