Our family first discovered Island Park in 1960 while vacationing in the Yellowstone area. We were so enchanted by the uniqueness of the area that we decided to build our own home and guest cabin here in 1995.
Richard Hunt purchased this cabin in 1995
We enjoy the beauty of the setting, the wildlife, and the proximity to Yellowstone Park and the Tetons, as well as the outstanding fly fishing and other outdoor recreational activities.
We love the peace and serenity that the area offers. We can walk out the door and hike in the national forest, ride bikes to the Continental Divide and the Centennial Valley in Montana, and cross county ski and snowmobile right out the door.
To our Host & Hostess,
What a charming, comfy, cozy hideaway! You have covered all the bases with attention to every detail that visitors might need.
Hope we can make it back in Sept. Thank you for a really special first time retreat from the desert!

Rich's cabin came highly recommended from a lifelong friend. We were not disappointed. Off the beaten path and surrounded by wilderness and wildlife, but close enough to places for dining and supplies. We enjoyed our stay and the on property host could not have been more gracious. Only 20 minutes to the West Yellowstone entrance to the Park. Great value, again we want to say we loved it!
The cabin was truly perfect! Everything was just as advertised -- actually better! Spotlessly clean, nicely furnished, easy to find. The owners, who live nearby, were great hosts and provided us with information on out-of-the-way places to visit in the vicinity! Particularly enjoyed our lunch at the Elk Lake Resort.
I highly recommend this great cabin. Owners were right next door and my boys loved playing fetch with their border collie! Rich was fantastic and even replaced a blown out light bulb for us. Very quiet and peaceful.
My husband and I enjoyed our stay. The cabin is phenomenal. It is beautifully decorated and it is very homey. The owners are super nice and are always willing to answer any questions. To save money on going out to eat every night we bought food at the grocery store in West Yellowstone and used the grill to cook out. The owners were nice enough to let us store some of our food inside of their freezer in their garage. I would highly recommend you staying at this cabin if you are looking at staying at a place where you feel like you are in your own little mountain getaway. I would definitely stay here again if our travels ever brought us out that way again. This place is rated a 10 ++++ on a scale of 1-10. I can’t say enough things on how much we enjoyed our stay. You won’t regret your stay here.
The cabin is a clean, cozy, and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable. The cabin is just 23 miles from Yellowstone's West Entrance and served as a good home base for exploring the Park. We really enjoyed the Saturday night rodeo and barbecue just up the road! The owners are on site and available if needed. We highly recommend this property.
This cabin is small but sweet and beautiful. Had everything we needed and more, and the cabin and our hosts were very accommodating and organized. The area was lovely and close enough to access yellowstone, but without the crowds. Bring bug spray and citronella if visiting in summer from the desert like we did!
Within walking distance of Meadow Vue Ranch, where authentic Western rodeos and barbecues are held during the summer months.
