About Shari Hindman
I am Aubrey Thomas Hornsby, Jr. -- actually Aubrey Hornsby III in a line of five Aubreys! I love Alabama, family and community and my wife and I offer our cabin so that others can enjoy what I had growing up - fun, beauty, family, good food and love staying at my grandfather's house on the lake every summer with my brother and sisters. Those were exciting times and they still are as five generations of Aubreys live on.
Shari Hindman purchased this Cabin in 1950
Why Shari Hindman chose Elmore County
This property has been in the family for years! Aubrey the first built this glorious cabin for his family and it has been passed down through the generations. Now, Aubrey V is enjoying the fruits of his great great grandfather. He is just three years old!
What makes this Cabin unique
We welcome you to Lakewood. Perhaps it’s the lay of the land, the point’s gentle gesture towards water and sky. The place has always felt sacred to me. It’s all about family and the generations: the Old South. I remember when every house was full of kids, cousins, elders. We rocked and played for hours while the fish were caught, the burgers grilled, the ice cream firmed up; till everyone was there. Swimming, conversation, sheer joy of life. That’s how it was…and still is… at Lakewood. It gives me great satisfaction to read the comments of our guests; to sense that this place has revealed something of itself to another family. That a relationship has been built and that the feeling is mutual. There’s plenty to do. We encourage you to use our beach volleyball court at the water’s edge, relax in the hot tub, boat the 750 miles of Lake Martin’s shoreline, islands and coves (we have our own boat ramp). Ski, jet ski, windsurf, fish (or just watch the large mouth bass moseying along our 600 feet of antique sea wall), cruise Lake Martin’s new extravagant homes, hike or ride the 80 miles of trails along the lake’s cliffs and woodland vales. Discover the charm and friendly people of our surrounding towns of Eclectic, Dadeville, Alexander City, Wetumpka, and Tallassee. Don’t miss the Chicken Auction or the Red Hill music hall renditions every Friday night and all our local festivals, gatherings, and churches. We now have the best high end restaurants imaginable and the finest funky dining that Alabamians love. You will be staying on Treasure Cove on Alabama’s Treasure Lake (as recently proclaimed by Governor Riley). Our water is always clear and clean. But most of all fall into the grace and magic, the peaceful delight of Lakewood.

We had a great time. House was clean and well stocked. Awesome point on the lake and perfect for kids. Nice to have their own boat launch too. Water was still super cold but hopefully we can come back when it’s warmer!
Our point on the lake offers beautiful sunset views along with privacy and quiet. We love when the geese come swooping down and land on the water in front of the house. In early morning if you are lucky, you can see the fish jump. Our point is beautiful and I am so happy that you enjoyed your time. We thank you for choosing Aubrey's Lakewood Cabin.
Great Spot On the Lake
We loved the screened in porch and the location on the Lake....beautiful spot! We will definitely rent again.
We are so happy that you had a good time and want to come back. We love that screened in porch too. When our kids were little, they would love to sleep out on the porch on the island bed. We love eating our meals on the porch so we can watch the fish jump, the birds chirp and the waves roll in. Sitting on a point let's us get a full view of everything from sunrise to sunset.
Love Aubrey's Lake house
Beautiful view, large screen porch, well equipped kitchen - just 3 reasons that we love this place !!!
We try to make everything perfect for our guests! Right down to the beautiful sunsets from the screened in porch. So happy that you love our place as much as we do. We appreciate you renting every summer.
Very relaxing place
The home has a great location and is very peaceful. Our kids enjoyed making s'mores over the fire pit every night that didn't rain. Our kids were content swimming off the dock all day and there was really no need to leave the house. We brought our 24ft powerboat and were able to enjoy the entire lake as well. It was a perfect vacation for us.
Nice rustic cabin feel! Like the good old days!
Stayed 7 nights with my family. Would have stayed longer. Great water view with lots of windows. My granddaughters loved the hot tub. We used the on property boat ramp to launch our Sea Doo and brought our pontoon from it's wet slip at the marina. The fire pit was a nice feature. Just wish it had not rained every day we were there, however a rainy day at the lake is better that any day at work!
We love that "good old days" feel too. We were born in the 50s so we have tried to keep that feel of family, good times, sitting on the wrap-around porch just being lazy! So sorry about the rain - I hope you got some good swimming in. BTW, storm watching is one of our favorite things to do! Please come back and see us again.
Beautiful property great views
We had 3 adults 2 teens and 3 children stay and had plenty of room. The yard was my favorite. I was a little disappointed that they didn't have the hammock or volleyball net up but all in all we had a great stay and would definitely be willing to stay again.
We are so happy that you had a good time. A former tenant rendered the volleyball net unusable so we ordered a new one online. There is a bit of a snafu there. So sorry about that. I now keep a second one in the toy box. Please come back and stay with us again.
