Spacious fully-furnished 1-bedroom loft in the heart of historic downtown Wilmington available for short- or long-term rental. We get a lot of people coming into town for weddings, romantic couples retreats, boys and girls' weekends, vacationers who want to hit the beach by day and chill downtown at night, and families coming to tour UNCW with their teens. It's perfect for all of those things.
A gorgeous urban space surrounded by history; 1200 square feet in a renovated historical building with 22-foot ceilings, exposed beams and girders, new plush carpeting and white brick walls. Two bathrooms (shower and full tub), huge walk-in closet, underground parking, skylight.
The unit is next to Cape Fear Community College, two blocks from the Cape Fear River. Surrounded by Wilmington's finest restaurants and night clubs, Pontiac Place is a five-minute walk to the Brooklyn Arts District, the new downtown convention center, PPD, the Cape Fear River Walk, and the water taxi to the USS North Carolina battleship. It's 4 miles from Wilmington International Airport (ILM) and a short drive to more than a dozen attractions, including world class golf courses and Wrightsville Beach.
Downstairs living space features a twin-size daybed/couch, 37 inch HDTV, Roku box with free Netflix movies and Pandora radio, audio-visual receiver, DVD player, basic cable and WiFi Internet. Fully equipped kitchen includes refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, blender crock pot, full complement of plates, cutlery, and utensils. Loft bedroom features a King-sized pillowtop bed, a twin-size day bed, full sized dresser, desk, walk-in closet, full bath, and shaded skylight.
Note: We recently upgraded the living room furniture, adding two comfy leather armchairs in place of the smaller couch and a basic chair. We added a chair and a bookcase upstairs. So some of these photos are out of date. Sorry.
Free WiFi Internet, Cable TV. Coin-op laundry in building.
Sleeps four comfortably. Perfect for single travelers, couples or young families. Longer term rentals negotiable.
NO SMOKING. NO PETS, NO EXCEPTIONS. SORRY.
Early checkin/late checkout may be available, but PLEASE ASK FIRST. Otherwise we need to stick to the 11 am check out and 4 pm check in limits, so our maid has time to clean the place. Thanks.

I am a freelance writer who chose to move from San Francisco to Wilmington 10+ years ago. I bought the condo quite a while ago after a big project. I used it for office space for a while. I rented it to a tenant for a bit. And I've been renting it out as a vacation rental for a few years now. I no longer live in Wilmington but I come to visit whenever I can. I love the beach and the downtown. The ocean is 85 degrees in summer. The waves are great. The diving is easy. The food is fantastic (some of it anyway.) And the people are the best. If you've never been here before, you're in for a treat.

Downtown Wilmington is a very hip, happening place. There are two dozen great restaurants and a dozen live music venues within five blocks (yet our property is extremely quiet). It's got the third largest historical district in the southeast (after Charleston and Savannah) and for my money, the nicest. It's great to be able to go out at night in the summer when Wilmington is hopping and not have to worry about finding a parking spot or driving home. And if you're here for the beach, it's a nice way to get away from the sand and surf at night.
Stroll two blocks to the Riverwalk and enjoy the incredible views of the Cape Fear River. Take a horse-drawn carriage through one of the largest and prettiest historical districts in the country, home to both Revolutionary and Civil War heroes. Take a water taxi across the Cape Fear to tour the USS North Carolina, a decommissioned WWII era battleship. Enjoy free concerts every weekend in summer along the waterfront. Drive out to Wrightsville Beach (25 mins) and enjoy 85 degree water and 10 miles of pristine sand; you can surf, parasail, or jet ski. Take a sail along the Intracoastal waterway or kayak through gorgeous unspoiled marshland. Dive WWII era wrecks and sunken artificial reefs within 45 minutes of shore. There are half a dozen great golf courses and amusement areas within a short drive as well. An easy two block stroll to Wilmington's rockin' nightlife along Front Street and the river. You won't be bored.
This place was within 2 blocks of historical downtown area. We were able to walk to everything we wanted. Very nice condo with plenty of space. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.
This loft is nicely appointed and fairly spacious. Great location for walking around Wilmington.
Perfect spot downtown Wilmington, everything is within walking distance including the river walk. They also have a free parking spot. Place was nice and clean with a fully stocked kitchen.
My husband and I were so excited to return to Wilmington but wanted to make sure we were downtown this time, close to the best parts of the city. We began by looking at hotels but everything was so expensive. A friend suggested vrbo, and I happened upon this absolute GEM! Check in was easy, using the code for the key box and letting ourselves in. The loft was gorgeous - clean, stylish, and spacious. Everything we needed was provided and it was great to have the extra space over a hotel room. The parking garage was a great convenience, saving us money from parking in the city and we were sure our car was safe. A ten minute walk from the best spots in town, and a fifteen minute drive to the beach -- absolute perfection! We had a great time and should we return to Wilmington we would definitely stay here again!
Great space, perfect location, very comfortable and well stocked with more than the necessities.
The loft was spacious and nicely equipped. The owner clearly put time into outfitting the unit with the necessities along with travel guides and information about the surrounding area.
While there were no issues with the unit itself, we had a couple issues with the Pontiac Place building itself. The day we arrived, it was raining quite hard and lobby and main hallway flooded. This was likely due to the gutters outside the front door being plugged and overflowing. A buzzer, presumably for the front door being open, was also continuously going off, even though the front door was closed. As others have stated, the underground parking was nice, but the entrance/exit ramp was very narrow and steep. Our car actually bottomed out the first time down. We had to remove all luggage and passengers from the vehicle to prevent it from bottoming out again.
Overall the stay was present and the unit was very nice. If the unit owner has any sway with the association, they should look into the issues stated above.
