Welcome to Crystal Blue Oasis, an all-seasons family- and pet-friendly retreat found just north of US-12 (East Chicago Road) and nestled among the sloping hills and winding roads of the Irish Hills area along the Southern edge of Jackson County, Michigan. It is centrally located for a quick getaway; 54 minutes from Ann Arbor, 1:03:00 from Lansing Capital Region Airport (LAN), and 1:16:00 from Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW).

The main floor of the home offers two bedrooms. The lake-facing primary bedroom provides a light and bright view of the lake and is furnished with a king-sized bed to accommodate two. Blackout curtains are positioned to block the sunrise if guests prefer to sleep in or enjoy an afternoon nap.

Wrapped in warm-hued knotty pine tongue-and-groove paneling decorated in classic cottage fashion, the roadside bedroom has a queen bed sleeping two additional guests. The room is outfitted with room-darkening curtains.

The loft provides a third sleeping area, sleeping four more guests in twin beds (best suited for older children, teens, and small adults). It is accessed by a forty-two-inch (42”) diameter spiral staircase. The area includes a lounge couch and a Smart TV, offering a separate area for kids and teens to gather. A mini split unit provides supplemental heating and cooling to keep the temperature upstairs enjoyable.

Every bed in the house is outfitted with a hybrid mattress blending the comfort of traditional inner springs and the conforming support of memory foam. The beds are dressed in premium bed linens, completing the package to promote a restful night’s sleep.

A recently completed kitchen and dining room remodel (May 2025) added a dishwasher, new cabinets, stainless steel appliances, and granite countertops. The expanded beverage station continues to supply a variety of K-Cups, teas, hot chocolate, creamers, and sugars while adding a separate beverage fridge. The breakfast bar provides casual seating for 4, offering peek-a-boo views of the living room television. The dining table includes seating for up to 8 for larger family meals. The kitchen remains fully outfitted with assorted equipment for cooking and baking. The completely renovated bathroom offers a walk-in shower with a hand-held sprayer (no tub). Other interior features include central air conditioning and a washer and dryer.

Crystal Blue Oasis boasts a level lot with eighty-two feet (82’) of direct frontage on a 155-acre spring-fed lake with all-sports access to boat, swim, and fish for Bluegill, Black Crappie, Sunfish, Largemouth Bass, and Walleye. Its calm, shallow, and sandy shoreline makes it great for little ones to splash and play. The marl (clay) lakebed allows sunlight to reflect, creating the mesmerizing turquoise water reminiscent of the Caribbean, and its crystal-clear water lends itself to a tranquil kayak and paddleboarding experience. For a small added fee, there are two sit-on kayaks, two sit-in kayaks, two kids’ kayaks, and/or two stand-up paddleboards available onsite for the duration of your stay. Contact the host to arrange access and to sign the waiver of liability. For guests traveling with their watercraft, a no-cost boat launch is available for small boats and personal watercraft. Seasonally, the onsite dock (one side) is available for use during your stay. An assortment of life jackets is available.

Outdoor amenities include front and rear covered porches with outdoor seating, a wood-burning fire pit, a propane grill, an outdoor dining table, a children’s picnic table, and an assortment of outdoor games.

Need a break from the water? Enjoy an assortment of games and puzzles or relax while watching any of the Wi-Fi-connected Smart TVs found in the living room and each bedroom. Seasonally (September 15th – May 1st), bask in the warm flickering glow of the wood-burning fireplace.

Off-property, choose to hit the links at one of the area golf courses, enjoy a meal at their clubhouse, or take a 15-minute walk and visit the local chill and grill for its fast food-style menu and sweet treats for dessert. If breakfast sweets are your thing, Special Ed’s offers a roadside donut stand with fresh, hot apple fritters, cake donuts, and breakfast sandwiches.

The Jackson County area offers many seasonal attractions, including MIS (Michigan International Speedway), the Jackson Hot Air Jubilee, the Jackson and Hillsdale County Fairs, and an opportunity to hunt for treasure along the US-12 Heritage Trail during Michigan’s Longest Garage Sale. Other local attractions include numerous wineries and craft breweries, as well as antique stores, historical sites, Cell Block 7 prison tour, Hidden Lake Gardens, and The Cascades illuminated and choreographed manmade waterfall.

Crystal Blue Oasis is conveniently located within 20 minutes of Hillsdale and Spring Arbor Colleges and an hour from the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, and Eastern Michigan University.
The driveway will accommodate one large or two small vehicles. The property is not conducive to street parking.

Two active recording devices on the exterior of the home capture audio and video. The video doorbell overlooks the front yard. Guests can use it to communicate during check-in if they have difficulties. Positioned at the dock, a motion-activated spotlight monitors the property owner’s watercraft(s).
