•Summers find locals and visitors alike hiking, mountain biking, dirt biking, four-wheeling, scenic and wildlife viewing, horseback riding, and just about any other outdoor activity you can think of. We have available a book called 'Hiking the 'Boat II' with plenty of adventures and are confident that you will truly enjoy your time here. Steamboat Lake State Park is just across the street offering premier fishing and boating to a full-service marina and swim beach. If fly fishing is your thing there are many nearby lakes, streams and rivers to choose from. Summer arrives with high temperatures in the 80's, and the nights are ordinarily in the 40's.
•Autumn is a gorgeous time in the Rockies with breathtaking scenery. Our Aspens tend to 'turn' about the third weekend in September with the shorter days and cooler weather. Although indian summers are frequent we usually have at least one early snow in the beginning of September, but doesn't stick! Elk and deer seasons also start in September and run through November.
•In winter, nearby Steamboat Springs Ski Resort offers some of Colorado's best skiing. All around Hahns Peak and Steamboat Lake you'll find a winter wonderland with over 140 miles of groomed snowmobiling and cross-country skiing trails. This region is one of Colorado's more snowy areas. Through the winter the highs are mostly in the 20's; through the dark hours in the winter temperatures drop to the 0's.
A little history of our village...The original Hahns Peak was founded close to the shores of Steamboat Lake in 1865 during Colorado's gold and silver rush days, and was the original County Seat of Routt County.
Hahns Peak Village today offers visitors a stroll through Colorado's colorful past, and offers residents a peaceful & historic residential life. Be sure to visit the Hahns Peak Historical Museum and original school house! The locals have opted to preserve the original quiet residential character of the town and shy away from the commercial tourism development typical of many old Colorado mountain towns.
The entire area around Hahns Peak and Steamboat Springs is one of the best vacation destinations in Colorado and we invite you to visit.
Look forward to seeing you soon!

Great location, great views, great amenities!
We hope to come back again!
Beautiful vacation home!
My husband and I enjoyed a 6 night stay at this beautiful little house in March of 2018 on our honeymoon! The view from the balcony is BREATHTAKING! We enjoyed many sunrise and sunset views from the balcony. The same view is seen from inside the great room of the house as there are so many big windows, giving you a seemingly 180 degree view from the front of the house. The house is so cozy and beautifully decorated. The amentities gave us exactly what we needed for the week- a supplied kitchen for us to cook a few dinners in, washer and dryer, cozy beds, plenty of towels and linens, etc. A few things that held me back from 5 stars were that we couldn't get the master doors that lead right outside to lock. (We messaged the owner, and she tried to tell us how to lock them, but we still couldn't). We also weren't left with a set of house keys so we just had to leave it unlocked every time we left. The house is in a very small, very cozy, and very safe feeling community, so it wasn't too unnerving, but we just would have liked the security of being able to lock the house and all of our things in it when we left every day to go on our adventures. Also, every time we took a shower in the master bathroom, the smoke detector would go off. We weren't sure if this had to do with steam or the water heater or what. It was very startling at first but we came to expect it. We also experienced a large fly problem while we were there, but that could just have something to do with the area or time of the year. It in no way reflected the cleanliness of the house (it was very tidy)! All in all, the pros by far outweighed the cons when it comes to this vacation rental! It is a good 30 minute drive from Steamboat Springs, which is where we spent most of our days, but we knew that going in! The drive to and from is absolutely beautiful. We had a lot of snow on the ground when we stayed which made for excellent scenery and winter activities. We chose to stay out of the way because we wanted some seclusion and privacy on our honeymoon as opposed to staying at a hotel or resort in Steamboat surrounded by people 24/7. We made an excellent choice picking this as our honeymoon destination! Thank you again!
So glad you enjoyed your honeymoon stay!
We really appreciate your 4 star review and want to update you.
Regarding the items you mentioned:
The master bedroom french doors to the backyard are extra tall doors, sometimes you need to push up high on the door and pull up on the handles to allow the the locking mechanism to extend both up and down into the door frame.
We now have a lockbox on the door with a house key inside. Our home is a tad rural and the majority of our guests are from the city and are accustomed to locking doors. We have heard your recommendation and added the lockbox with house key inside.
The batteries may need to be changed on the smoke detector and will check on that immediately, thank you for letting us know.
At certain times of the year in Colorado, having a log structure means you are guaranteed cluster flies, usually Spring and Fall when there are large temperature swings.
We look forward to hosting you again in the future,
We spent 4 nights in this beautiful home. We were able to ride out on our snowmobiles right from the house with easy access to Hahn’s Peak Roadhouse as well as easy access up to the riding trails. The view from the house is absolutely gorgeous- we loved every minute of it! We will definitely be coming back.
Great ride-in/ride-out snowmobile cabin.
This house was well maintained and very nice. I would definitely recommend and will definitely revisit.
The cabin was beautiful and the views were amazing. Unfortunately the mountain peaks were always covered with clouds so could never see the beautiful mountain sunsets. It was great being able to pull the snowmobiles right up to the house when we were done riding every day.
Beautiful place. Well stocked. Great views. Overall a great place to stay when visiting steamboat lake.
Just a short walk down Main Street is our favorite restaurant, "The Hahns Peak Cafe". You can sit on their deck and enjoy a cool drink and wonderful food. Their Sunday Brunch is NOT to be missed! Throughout the year Hahns Peak Roadhouse, just 1 mile away, has breakfast, lunch and dinner. They also offer many activities including but not limited to horse-drawn sleigh ride, snowmobile rentals, atv rentals, horseback rides....
