Nestled at the base of majestic Hahns Peak in Northern Colorado, 24 miles north of Steamboat Springs, our Steamboat Lake Colorado High Country Getaway offers visitors the use of our new (2008) timber-framed home. For additional information and photos please visit YourHomeSteamboatLake (dot) com. Google - N 40 48.440' W 106 56.620' - coordinates to see our location.

Clean air, blue Colorado sky and plenty of excellent recreational opportunities abound. The absolutely wonderful scenery--including nearby peaks, the Continental Divide, lush green valleys and colorful alpine wildflowers--make our unique area picturesque year-round. Visit (dot) shtml for a current webcam shot of the area.

•Summers find locals and visitors alike hiking, mountain biking, dirt biking, four-wheeling, scenic and wildlife viewing, horseback riding, and just about any other outdoor activity you can think of. We have available a book called 'Hiking the 'Boat II' with plenty of adventures and are confident that you will truly enjoy your time here. Steamboat Lake State Park is just across the street offering premier fishing and boating to a full-service marina and swim beach. If fly fishing is your thing there are many nearby lakes, streams and rivers to choose from. Summer arrives with high temperatures in the 80's, and the nights are ordinarily in the 40's.

•Autumn is a gorgeous time in the Rockies with breathtaking scenery. Our Aspens tend to 'turn' about the third weekend in September with the shorter days and cooler weather. Although indian summers are frequent we usually have at least one early snow in the beginning of September, but doesn't stick! Elk and deer seasons also start in September and run through November.

•In winter, nearby Steamboat Springs Ski Resort offers some of Colorado's best skiing. All around Hahns Peak and Steamboat Lake you'll find a winter wonderland with over 140 miles of groomed snowmobiling and cross-country skiing trails. This region is one of Colorado's more snowy areas. Through the winter the highs are mostly in the 20's; through the dark hours in the winter temperatures drop to the 0's.

A little history of our village...The original Hahns Peak was founded close to the shores of Steamboat Lake in 1865 during Colorado's gold and silver rush days, and was the original County Seat of Routt County.

Hahns Peak Village today offers visitors a stroll through Colorado's colorful past, and offers residents a peaceful & historic residential life. Be sure to visit the Hahns Peak Historical Museum and original school house! The locals have opted to preserve the original quiet residential character of the town and shy away from the commercial tourism development typical of many old Colorado mountain towns.

The entire area around Hahns Peak and Steamboat Springs is one of the best vacation destinations in Colorado and we invite you to visit.

Look forward to seeing you soon!

Keywords: Located across from Steamboat Lake is our custom built (2008) timber-framed home, constructed from local materials. The trees were harvested from the property.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a wonderful time at the Hahn’s Peak Village, about thirty miles up in the mountains from Steamboat Spring. The house was spacious, clean, and well supplied with necessary items. We enjoyed the beautiful view from the family room during our meal times near a fireplace. The house had an underfloor heating system which was very helpful in the winter time. We took joy in snowmobile rides, horse riding and cross country skiing. We won’t forget the beautiful sceneries surrounded us. Kathy , our host, was such a wonderful and kind person. She was very helpful in anything.

Awesome views

  • 5 of 5

We stayed the week of Christmas. one of the top ten drives in the US from Downtown Steamboat out to the house. We loved the heated floors. A great week with the kids on a family vacation we will always remember fondly. The construction on the home is awesome, love the fact that some or all of the wood came from the property.

Amazing Views!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and son and I visit the Hahn's Peak area most years since 1992 and have had more and more difficulty finding pleasant accommodations in the region. This property, however, was absolutely lovely! The main living area was spacious and comfortable with incredible views of Steamboat Lake and the mountains in this region. Wow. We hope to return again next year. Highly recommended!

Lovely Home!

  • 5 of 5

The pictures of this home do not do it justice. This was an amazingly beautiful home to stay for a week's vacation near Steamboat Springs. The home was extremely clean and well cared for. We could not have asked for anything more. We stayed with 3 children (13, 11, 6) and found it to be perfectly suited for our family. The area is lovely and we took advantage of all the hiking, fishing, and swimming that abounds but most enjoyed coming back to this wonderful home at night to relax on the deck. Thank you for sharing it with us & we cannot wait to return.

Beautiful Area and House, not fond of some things

  • 3 of 5

We loved the area we stayed in! However, I don't feel right giving this more than three stars. My husband and I are very outdoorsy and were extremely excited about a break. When we arrived the house was dirty, crumbs on counters, the stove, dirty dishes (probably from the last renters), poorly kept yard, etc... Besides that the house was very nice. And the views were amazing! Expect it was obvious the windows had never been washed and being professional window cleaners we did that for our stay. What's the point of views if the views are clouded by years of build up on windows? The homeowner did come out and mow the lawn but it was the night of our last stay so it didn't really matter.

However, if you are coming for the lake, ATV trails, and hikes.... I WOULD ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND! And the food is excellent and towns people are super friendly!

Caution though...... to our dismay the neighbors dog is absolutely HORRIBLE!!! Every morning at 5:20AM you could count on a rude awakening of loud, non-stop barking for 27 minutes to an hour and 10 minutes! Every day! On the Dot! That alone is what really put a damper on the trip. The neighbors dog.... I was ready to shoot it.

Hopefully in the future the neighbor can learn to be respectful and shut their dog up! Then it would have been much better.

Quiet with Views

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed for three nights and enjoyed most everything. We had our 8-year old and two small dogs along with us. Everything was provided and we wanted for nothing. The only aspect of the visit that was hard for us was the stairs. Because it's a 3-story house you need to scamper up and down quite a bit. Between lugging our things and managing a young boy with dogs we were sort of worn out. Otherwise, it was great. Plan to grocery shop in Steamboat Springs. It's about 40 minutes to the place from there. The lake is a 20 minute hike. Good fishing.

Just a short walk down Main Street is our favorite restaurant, "The Hahns Peak Cafe". You can sit on their deck and enjoy a cool drink and wonderful food. Their Sunday Brunch is NOT to be missed!

Throughout the year Hahns Peak Roadhouse, just 1 mile away, has breakfast, lunch and dinner. They also offer many activities including but not limited to horse-drawn sleigh ride, snowmobile rentals, atv rentals, horseback rides....
